For anyone else who couldn’t find this information on the internet ANYWHERE- Our song was just voted onto DistroKid Rock and we got an email saying congratulations and all that at midnight. So FRIDAYS AT MIDNIGHT is when the votes are reset and the songs are added. Matchups I have concluded are how many times your song has been placed against another song but it doesn’t share how many votes you get. Our song had 131 matchups so a max of 131 votes to be added to the playlist and assuming that they order the songs by most votes first, we are 6th so i would assume you would need a little over 100 votes to get playlisted but i’m guessing that number would vary based on the popularity of the genre. Hope this helps cuz I was beyond frustrated trying to find anyone with this information! If you’d like I can update on how many streams it gets throughout the week too
I’m having a problem. My song is already downloaded and available in stores its trying to have me make it available in stores again to get on the playlist. 🤔
Hey, Pete Johns, I have a question about an unrelated topic, but since you are really into iPads/iPhones/Apple products, I thought it could be good to try to ask you. I just upgraded to IOS 14 on my two-year-old iPad two days ago, and today, during an hour-long Zoom meeting (I did it on the iPad) I was in, my iPad started becoming really hot. It didn’t give me an overheating message or anything, but the device just became really hot, and much hotter than usual. I looked online, and it looks like updating your iPad can cause overheating. Should I be worried about this? Will the problem go away in a few days? Should I contact any customer support about this? Thanks for taking the time to read this, and also thanks for all of these really informative videos!
Hey there. I haven’t heard of a heap of overheating problems from iOS 14 but it’s definitely possible. Make sure you try closing all apps and turning completely off and back on. Won’t fix everything but often will help.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Hey, I don't want this comment section to become a QnA forum, but while I have you, I have a completely unrelated question to ask you that I think you will know the answer to. Is there a way in Garageband IOS to use a guitar amp on a MIDI track? For me, it seems that you can only use amps on audio tracks, and that is really annoying for me. Do you have any videos about this? Thanks again for all of your help!
Hello Pete! I have a question regarding copyright. Will I get a copyright claim if I use the autoplay function in garageband? The autoplay melody that I have in my song is sort of in the forefront of everything but there's also some bass, drums, and ambient sounds overlapping it too. I watched your video about apple loops but is the autoplay also considered an apple loop? Thanks!
I’d probably recommend waiting for Pete to respond, since he’s basically an expert on that kind of stuff. But I’d guess no. It is extremely unlikely anyone else on RUclips has used the same auto play you did, and it is even more unlikely they would have put the same effects on the track that you did (I assume you put effects on it). Again, I’m not an expert, but I’d say your chances of getting a claim are extremely small, especially if there are other instruments in your song besides the auto play.
So sorry I've missed this - just going back and cleaning up now. This video should help with some info - ruclips.net/video/IIqi6TRnTk4/видео.html And tune in to my live shows as I've been talking about this a lot lately - in today's Creator Town Hall in fact!
The common response to my attempt seemed to be, "Why does it play only a small part of the song?" To which I'd say, Yeah... why? At least shouldn't the good folks at Spotify give the listener a link to the whole song? This way they'd not only help the artist but also themselves by bringing more listening traffic to Spotify. Am I missing something here?
So it’s more of a novelty, giving you a taste of the songs and seeing which one you want to vote for to see if it makes it to the playlist. There’s not any Spotify play time with this per se.
@@PeteJohnsMusic They put my country track against a dance track. But actually, I liked the dance track a lot. But should we be compared? I hope the dance track gets on a dance playlist and I get on a country playlist.
@@stoneloremusic thank you. I searched everywhere. No one knows. I just submit on Fridays now as I once received a winning result on a Friday but I'm still not really sure.
@@TheYellowDrumStudio I actually JUST got an email at midnight (EST) that my song was voted onto DistroKid rock so FINALLY and answer lol! Fridays at midnight they tally the votes!!
@@stoneloremusic That's awesome. Thank you so much. Lol Finally some confirmation. Crazy what you have to go through to get a simple answer. Thanks again. 👌🏼
It seems that distrokid always pick a limited number of tracks to match. Try and try and they are the same 5 or 6 tracks, again and again. So this is quite manipulated, and think that there are some sponsored songs. There are no equal chances to be voted. Sad to say.
I was just wondering the same thing. So it doesn’t really tell you how your song is doing in terms of votes; just how many times it has gone against others

Yeah probably not a perfect way to promote yourself. But pretty fun. 😎
What is the matchups thing? I've got 142 matchups. Have no idea if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
It's a thing. 😄. Just means your songs have been matched up against other folks' songs.
