OMG!! I said I was not doing it and here I am. I bought a Halo light and a lap desk. I am so excited to join this group! I learned to stitch about 40 years ago. Have done this on and off, mixing it up here and there with all types of crafts. I stared watching your channel during the start of the pandemic and have enjoyed every minute of it. You are so relatable and down to earth. I love all your work although I have never done quilting. My mother loved cross-stitching and left me allot of projects that I am looking to start. Can’t wait to post them on here. Thank you for encouraging me to take this art form back up.
I love seeing your progress and how excited you are for all the things! I don't have anyone to talk stitching with in my life so this is a fun outlet to feel like I'm not the only one who gets silly excited over these things. That being said...you are a problem. Lol! I am now addicted to Fat Quarter Shop, Primrose Cottage and Cherry Hill Stitchery! Oh. My. Goodness! Thank you for sharing your love of all things crafty with us! Have a great week!
Love your videos, I’m new to flosstube but I have followed your card videos for a couple years! Those quilts are going to be beautiful! Love those fabrics. I’m picking up cross stitching again because of you ☺️ I did it years ago, my aunt taught me and she has since passed, so it is a loving memory of her that I hold in my heart. I’m late to do a stitch along but will join for the next one. Thank you for these videos, I really enjoy them.
I won!!!??? That is too funny because while I am soooo excited to start a SAL with you, I genuinely meant what I wrote! I really needed an iron and bought the travel size Oliso iron (I hope you got credit for it. The link got a little wonky after I added it to my cart). It should arrive tomorrow!! I bought the iron to press my current FFOs, but also want to use it to get back into quilting. I love your channel so much because of all the crafting you do and the way you manage it. You literally said something like, "I can stitch an hour for Christmas ". You schedule your crafting! Brilliant! My ADDHD self needs that kind of commitment in my life. I bought a Happy Planner hole punch because I loved your Cross stitching journal. You are my hero!! Thank you for all that you do!
I haven’t had time for quilting or cross-stitch in about 30 years, but I enjoy these videos so much. I also was happy to hear about the visit with your parents. They sound so adorable. 🥰 I miss my parents every single day. 😭
Biggest hugs Margaret. I know I am lucky to still have them both. They are truly amazing parents. I can only hope I am as good a parent as they have been. ❤️
Hi Nicole. I have never commented but should say that I love watching your channel. I don't understand all the terminology but I research some to understand. I love stitching but I am so slow. Your words bless me and give me hope. I love learning, so the more you share, the more I learn. Hugs! Sue
I love stories about your family😊💖 How wonderful for all of you! You look so happy and pretty today. I enjoy your videos soooo much! Thank you for the time and effort you put into all of it…and for making me feel like your friend. 😊👍🏻💖💖 hugs, Debi
Thank you so much Nichol for posting the links in your videos. It’s so helpful. I’ve been having a time finding the Bohin needles. They seem to be sold out everywhere, so I ordered them from your Amazon link. I have my eye on that Brother Cut and Scan. Someday 😉. Thanks for setting up the FB group too. I’ve enjoyed seeing everyone’s work! Can’t wait to do your SAL. 🤗
It's been 110+ here in north Texas for the last few days. I'm with you, over it! The redeeming bit about living in the desert is that it cools way down at night. Here it's still 95 at midnight. I just started Jingle Bell Cafe and I'm loving stitching on black Aida. I have several patterns I've purchased on FQS and I can't wait to dive in.
I heard about your Flosstube from Primerose Cottage. I started watching #10 but went back to watch all your previous flosstubes & then rewatched # 10. I feel all caught up up 😄. I'm joing your SAL. I have all the supplies & I'm ready to go. I'm glad it's fairly small. I'm hoping it will help me keep up! You have quickly become one of my favorite Flosstubers. Thank you for taking the time to answer the questions & show us all the things. I'm not a card maker but I do quilt/sew & cross stitch
Hi Nichol! Your WIPs are coming along beautifully! I myself have had to do some frogging so I’m a little set back, but it happens so I’m okay. Plus the mistakes were all done before I got my Halo Go which I love. Your quilt blocks are so beautiful and I love the Nantucket collection. Your and your son’s quilts are gonna turn out awesome! You are always so upbeat and have such a genuine personality - you’re a breath of fresh air and inspire me every week! I get so much joy from watching your flosstubes and card videos. You make my heart happy. Thank you for your never ending work in getting these videos up and sharing your hobbies with us. I’m glad you enjoyed your parents’ visit. I only have my mom left and I enjoy every moment I can spend with her. She lives far away from me as well but we do cardmaking together via FaceTime and my sister and I are taking her to the Outer Banks in September for a girls week. I’ll be taking my stitching with me for sure. The best thing about Facebook are the crafty groups I belong to, which now includes yours! I’m so grateful you created a safe haven for us in your group. Hope you have a great week. See you soon. 💖
Totally agree with you about the heat. It just knocks me out. Can’t wait for cooler weather although I’m guessing it will be a while. I did want to let you know that there is a tutorial on the Fat Quarter Shop’s Jolly Jabber on making those design boards. I made a few a while back (the tutorial is from 2015) and it was pretty easy. Also, have you seen Moda’s upcoming QAL also called Letters to Santa. The quilts will be composed of holiday words … or what ever the maker wants to do. I’ve always loved those word quilts that I’ve seen so may decide to join in with that. Will be ordering the pdf of Welcome Autumn and figuring out what fabric to use. Sounds like you had such a wonderful visit with your mom and dad. Cherish those moments with them. 💕
Your quilt blocks are looking awesome. The quilt you're making for your son is going to be gorgeous. Love the color choice, blues are my favorite. I Can't wait for part 3 of Boo Crew tomorrow. Loving that pattern so far. I just started When Life Is Done by Silver Creek Samplers. I'm stitching it in honor of my mom who passed in 2020. Not Christmas in July but I just picked up the floss and couldn't wait to start it. So glad I realize now that no one is going to come and take away my floss for starting another new project. lol
I wish I had only half of your energy! Love all the cross stitch wips and really love the quilt blocks. Makes me want to start one again. I have not done elaborate quilts before though. TFS
Hey Nicole. I am a card maker and stitcher too no videos up though. I lost all my supplies in a house fire and I’m just trying to rebuild them. It’s be devinstating Your videos are keeping me inspired and helping my heavy heart thank please continue sharing your good work Nicole you can’t imagine what it is like to lose everything until it happens to you Hugs and xxxxx Diane
Nichol, I just love your videos! It feels like a chat with a stitchy friend! Your enthusiasm and positive spirit are so inspiring! I am going to try and get on your Facebook group and am definitely doing the August stitch along! Your quilts are just amazing! I have so much material I have to make some quilts but then I hope to join a block of the month. Going to start watching the Fat Quarter shop videos so I know what is going on ! Your blocks today were just beautiful! Have a great week!
Love my light, thank you for your recommendation! I really enjoy watching your videos while I am crafting at home. It’s like having a friend over who enjoys crafting with you 🥰 I have scrapbooking friends but no card making or cross stitching friends around so your lives and now your Facebook group is awesome!! I so enjoy seeing all of your quilt blocks. I never learned how to sew but appreciate the artistry in quilts. Thank you for sharing your creative talents and your passion for what you do!
I wish I could just give you a big -ol-hug! I watch your card videos and now your flosstubes. Your such a wonderful light of joy when you do these videos. Keep that uplifting spirit you have.
Thanks for the sweet mention of my comment, Nichol. You are so kind. You just light up when you are sharing and I so enjoy seeing your enthusiasm. Please don't apologize for anything. You have a lot on your plate and I'm grateful you share what you share. Oh goodness, the quilts are going to be swoon worthy. Your stitching is wonderful and I look forward to participating in the SAL in August. I hope you have a fantastic week. Thanks again for all you do. 😊
I don’t like to backstitch, but the patterns I have done with it, pop. It just takes a flat picture and brings it to life. Those patterns also use quarter, half, and three quarter stitches.
I am so enjoying this even though not doing it. Long, long ago in a different time and place I did tons of needlepoint and crewel work, mostly NP though. I was lucky enough to have a gorgeous shop not that far away and I would get the painted canvases and hand pick the colors with the very knowledgeable owner. But I made had my projects made into cushions which was so decorative and made such a cool gift. With cross stitch, since I don't have a samplers on th wall kind of decor --- what do you do with all this charming works? I can't wait to see them finished into something else!! I still use every year some really sweet NP Christmas tree ornaments. They're a family tradition for me and my siblings who received them each year for a while before work became too all consuming and time filling! Thanks for everything you do! I watch your card videos every day. : )
Love, love, love the quilt you are making for your older son. The colors are wonderful--especially for a guy and I think the soft plaid is so nice and appropriately masculine. I love how all your plaid lines are so nice and straight. It drives me crazy to see patterns in a quilt where the lines that are supposed to be straight are not. The very fist quilt I learned on has a whimsical plaid and the quilt teacher told me, 'Oh, you don't need to worry about cutting those so that they are straight'. It is just a 30" square spring table topper but every time I see those crooked plaid lines I grit my teeth! Is it possible to join the facebook club if you don't do crossstitching but do needlepoint? Thank you so much for all the time and energy you spend to make your followers feel part of special group. Blessings till next time.
It is lucky thing that you are a good person considering you are such an enabler! 😄😄. Thanks for mentioning you’ve added to your Amazon favorites page. I ordered the Simply Keto book as I am considering trying that change. Have you discussed Keto in a clip or elsewhere? I didn’t find one but perhaps my terminology when searching was off. Thanks!
I haven't. About four years ago I went full Keto and lost 50 lbs and felt amazing. Then, I quit. And the weight cam back. I just started back up again as eating low carb and less sugar makes me feel great and have more energy. I may eventually discuss this more in a video.
Love your videos! You are so inspiring & very contagious. I’ve picked up my cross stitch again & working on finishing my past WIPS. A word about overdyed fabrics. When I was cross stitching, I did some research on overdyed fabrics, mainly linens. I discovered that not all companies ‘set’ their dyes aka not colorfast (like R&R), so this means water cannot touch the fabric, especially if you are steaming the fabric. Not sure if this is the case now, but sometime a chat about overdyed fabrics would be helpful. TFS.
Cross stitching rules! I'm almost done with my Boo Bash, and have my next project in pre-production, just need to order some floss! You have re-awakened the monster Nichol! 😎😁
You crack me up!😂😂😂. I don’t know how in the world you do all that you do in a day but I want to be weekly inspired by your energy to also get myself as productive. Iron all the WIPS would give me great anxiety. 😅😅. Don’t ever apologize. Just amazed that you are able to give us so much of your most precious commodity, TIME. Thank you Nichol.
Thank you so much for inspiring me to take up cross stitch again! I love the idea of working on multiple projects…Could you explain in more detail how you set up your monthly stitching calendar from Fat Quarter Quilts and what your rotation sequence is for cross stitch projects? Thank you
Enjoyed your floss tube presentation! I love your cherry quilt blocks. I used to collect Mary Englebreit cherries fabric and still have a lot. You did a good job with your fabric choices! Good luck with your stitching! I started a free DMC chart called Lemonade. Going pretty fast. Ready for our Autumn Sal!
Through this post, I was able to join the FB group - hurrah!! I love these FlossTube videos and always learn something - like starting with white and not red!!! Of course, I started with red on the Santa hat and am now struggling with the white. So, I learned something today! Even though I don't quilt, I do sew and just made three pillows for my bedroom so I'm always open to new ways of doing things. Thank you so much Nichol - I've been following you for many years while you demonstrate card making. XOXO
Good Morning Nichol! What a great way to start my Monday! Coffee and a video from youl. Whoo Hoo!! I feel like you as well. I'm done with the heat and more than ready for fall. Planning on working on my Boo Crew today, I've got some catching up to do! LOL..... Have a great day and hope to see what you come up with next soon.
Love your Jolly July Christmas starts! I'm almost finished with SWTH Tis the Season & working on Jingle Bell Cafe. I still need to start LK Christmas Rules. Happy Stitching Nichol!
Your blocks are gorgeous especially the Nantucket Summer. Of what an amazingly beautiful quilt that will be. I, too, am going to be making a quilt with that fabric collection and absolutely love this collection. I’m also looking forward to her Dwell collection!
I just ordered all the things! So excited to start the SAL and last night as I was stitching I had such a hard time seeing the stitches so cannot wait to get the Halo Go. This is soooo much fun! Your enthusiasm is contagious and now I want to buy all the projects. I have a ridiculously hard project that I’ve picked back up after many years but I decided to allow myself to do more than one project at a time because in reality that old project will probably take me awhile yet - it has tons of back stitching! I just love the new Facebook group, thank you for bringing the joy of cross stitching and quilting back into my life again. You are so genuine and kind and sweet and I just love being part of your Patreon family!
Got my light and I love it! Now, I’m enjoying stitching more! Thank you for answering our questions and taking the time and patience for us. I have more patterns than time but just like card making, love the newness of cross stitching!
So beautiful cross stitch and quilt. Just love it. I will try finish my projects that was unfinished. But I totally love to cross stitch!. That was my first I cross stitch long time ago. Now I feel like to cross stitch..🤣🤣😂😂 Thank you for sharing! Just love everything. Anyway thank you again…Aloha 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏼😊♥️
You have thoroughly convinced me to deny my monogamous stitching tendencies and start multiple projects. Christmas A to Z sampler, 12 days of Christmas ornaments, To the Beach and Back banner and the upcoming Autumn SAL. I’m a lean mean stitching machine!
Hi Nichol! I just started watching your flosstube starting last week, and I must say I am so happy to see your videos. I have been meaning to get back into stitching, and you have motivated me to do that! Thanks :)
Thank you so much for starting your flosstube. I did some embroidery when I was young but seeing all of your projects and your enthusiasm made me want to try cross stitching and even try quilting. I have started Letters to Santa and even bought supples for the Welcome Autumn stitch along. So excited and thank you for these videos!!
Congratulations to the winner. I’m going to order the pattern now. Looking forward to the stitch Along and I plan to post a couple pictures on the web site. QUESTION. Could you explain the different fabrics I knew Aida and linen. What is Lugano. Is it only the small count because I only stitch 1 over 1 i went to Y local hobby lobby for Aida and I noticed there were several different types not manufacture.
I ordered the light and lap desk. One of them is coming Wednesday! I’m doing the Letters to Santa and the Welcome Autumn you are doing for August. I’m about 3/4s done with it. I’m really enjoying the stitching, and although I do not sew, I’ve always wanted to quilt. I have a friend who quilts and she said she’s willing to help me get started! Yay! I love the blue and green one you are making. So pretty! One more thing, my hubby is asking what I’m a going to do with all these things I’m making! 🙄 Men!
I joined your Facebook group, answered the questions, but did not have a spot to agree with the rules. But I totally agree! It will be fun to see everyone’s progress and current stitchy projects.
I can't stop stitching! I have so many crafts I love to do but right now I am OBSESSED. I lovingly blame you. I just started Stoney Creek's Believe Snowfriends Banner (OMG talk about backstitch) and I don't want to put it down but now I have so many other projects that need love. So much fun. PS I got my Halo Go yesterday (a day early) and I L O V E it.
Nichol, girrrrrrrrlfriend... I did not see this. I am watching replay and loving it 😍. Replay are my life these days. You always have fantastic videos and I follow you in cardmaking as well. I haven't started my stitching yet, however I am getting there. I need to get on your Facebook page soon. Keep the videos coming. Hugs. Oh, by the way, Patreon for Flosstube would be great 👍 (Just a thought). You are one of the best!!!
Nicole, 25 count would be like 12.5 if there was an Aida that size if stitched over two. Yes 28 is like 14 if stitched over two. Yes 32 is like 16 if stitched over two Yes 36 is like 18 count if stitched over two. You can stitch one over one on any of those it just makes the design smaller. So far i don’t stitch on anything smaller then 18 count Aida because eyes… Love seeing all your projects.
Tammy Blalock (Creative Country Girl) has an explanation of the fabric count in her comment, I'd add one CAN stitch over one on the higher count fabrics, whether even weave or linen, and some patterns call for it, for example on a face on some of the Lavender and Lace or Mirabilia fancy ladies, or in Brenda Gervais' little book, Keeper of the Pins that everyone is looking at these days (and I think you have Nichol), in the pattern "Needle and Thread," the little strawberry attached to the tomato pincushion is stitched over one. I always use two threads when I stitch, but I think if I were to stitch on 36 or 40 count I'd use one thread. (Cataract surgery is the 21st, we'll see how it goes!) If one stitches over one on a 32 count fabric, the piece will be half the size of a piece stitched over 2 threads because the thread count is always threads per inch. Jean Farish actually recommends double checking the thread count when you buy a piece of fabric for this reason! But then she's a pro!
I currently have The Gather Inn by Plum Street and like you, I’m over Summer. We here in Texas have had temps in the 100’s since May! 😱. I’m dreaming of fall for sure!
Hi! I'm not for sure if someone else mentioned this but I thought that everyone should know what 25 count even weave is. Half of 25 is 12.5 so if there was an Aida that was 12 and 1/2 that would be its equivalent. Since there isn't, 11 count Aida cloth and 14 count Ada cloth would be the closest to 25 count lugana. 25 count lugana is bigger than 28 count lugana or evenweave. I hope this makes sense.
Love all your projects, Thanks for sharing ! Primrose Cottage Stitches is having a Halloween sal starting in August, I think its called Toil and Trouble, and it would look great on your piece of TPT fabric! Happy Stitching and Quilting!
Lovely wips! I stitch on 14 ct Aida but am interested in trying out Lugana. I see that you said your stitching in 32ct Lugana, is it a huge difference?!
32 count would be the equivalent of 16 count aida so it is smaller than 14 ct aida. If you want to try a lugana similar to 14 I would suggest 28 count.
I’d really like to do your SAL in August but the fabric is confusing me. Is the Lugana fabric a two over two fabric? I’ve not done that before and I’m concerned it’s going to be too hard for my poor eyes to see. Is there a 16 ct Aida color you’d recommend if I decide to go that route?
I am filming a video that will be released mid-September. I highly, HIGHLY recommend the Fat Quarter Shop RUclips channel for learning how to quilt! I am addicted! ❤️
Who is your quilter? Can you share her info? I have more than a few quilts ready to go and I used to do them myself on an at home hobby long arm quilting machine but after a bad back injury I can no longer quilt my own tops. I haven't even tackled finding a good quilter to do them!
They are generous with the fabric. I cut it wrong the first time and then cannot believe I did the same thing a second time. Arrrgh. 😆 @@NicholSpohrLLC

The quilt for your eldest son is going to be amazing. I’m loving the colours and patterns you’ve selected.

Just found you after watching Primrose Cottage video! You are wonderful! Love your smile and positivity!!!! Can’t wait to see you again soon.

I'll answer this in my next Flosstube.
Amazing how much you accomplish. You must work 24/7.
Stitching and quilting are for fun so I don't consider them work. ❤️
Love the video. Look forward to your SAL
Got the halo light. Love it. Waiting on my pattern. Can't wait to get started!
Wonderful!
Sure!
TFS.
I've made a note for a future video. :)
Thank you
Yes, I will talk about it in my next Flosstube.
Enjoyed the video 👍👍👍
I am so glad I found you. I was able to watch AND stitch with you on Friday! Thank you for sharing your stitching. Just stunning!
Whoo Hoo!! I feel
like you as well.
I’m also looking forward to her Dwell collection!
me too! Dwell is going to go so well with Nantucket!
Now I feel like to cross stitch..🤣🤣😂😂
Thank you for sharing!
Yaaaay totally needed a video of you today, always cheers me up 💗🥰 hope you have a lovely day and thanks for always sharing your art 🙏🏻
Congratulations to the winner. I’m going to order the pattern now. Looking forward to the stitch Along and I plan to post a couple pictures on the web site. QUESTION. Could you explain the different fabrics I knew Aida and linen. What is Lugano. Is it only the small count because I only stitch 1 over 1 i went to
Y local hobby lobby for Aida and I noticed there were several different types not manufacture.
I'll answer in my next Flosstube.
🙄 Men!
I love my light and find it so hard to stitch without it now LOL!
ME TOO! It's a game changer!
I joined your Facebook group, answered the questions, but did not have a spot to agree with the rules. But I totally agree! It will be fun to see everyone’s progress and current stitchy projects.
I don’t know that I saw a place to agree either.
Got my Halo Go light last week, and totally feeling your sentiment about not knowing how you ever did without it. The difference is amazing!
I will keep the Patreon in mind for the future! ;)
Nicole, 25 count would be like 12.5 if there was an Aida that size if stitched over two.
Yes 28 is like 14 if stitched over two.
Yes 32 is like 16 if stitched over two
Yes 36 is like 18 count if stitched over two.
You can stitch one over one on any of those it just makes the design smaller.
So far i don’t stitch on anything smaller then 18 count Aida because eyes…
Love seeing all your projects.
Thanks Joanne! I appreciate the info. ❤️
YES. All good points, Mary. I should have mentioned that. A lot of the higher counts call for 1 over 1 or 1 over 2. Thanks so much for the info!
YES! Thank you! ❤️
Love all your projects, Thanks for sharing ! Primrose Cottage Stitches is having a Halloween sal starting in August, I think its called Toil and Trouble, and it would look great on your piece of TPT fabric! Happy Stitching and Quilting!
I saw that and I think you're right about that fabric being perfect for the Halloween SAL! ;)
Hey Nichol...What do you think about stamped coss stitch???. It looks like it would be fun, especially for beginners. Hugs 🤗
I don't think I have seen this?! Who is doing stamped cross stitch? I must know! lol
Do you starch? Your blocks are really nice!
I don't!
Lovely wips! I stitch on 14 ct Aida but am interested in trying out Lugana. I see that you said your stitching in 32ct Lugana, is it a huge difference?!
There is a 14 count Lugana. It stitches nicely.
32 count would be the equivalent of 16 count aida so it is smaller than 14 ct aida. If you want to try a lugana similar to 14 I would suggest 28 count.
@@NicholSpohrLLC thank you for the response and suggestion
Hi Nichole, I had a. Hard time finding this. It says unlisted under the title. I found it through the flosstube playlist.
That's because it isn't public yet.
Please tell us what bags you use for projects.
They are listed in the description box below the video.

I'll discuss this in my next Flosstube.
Nichol...teach me to quilt!!!
I am filming a video that will be released mid-September. I highly, HIGHLY recommend the Fat Quarter Shop RUclips channel for learning how to quilt! I am addicted! ❤️
For design boards, if you can't afford to purchase them Lori Holt has a tutorial so you can make them yourself
The little boo is so cute
Who is your quilter? Can you share her info? I have more than a few quilts ready to go and I used to do them myself on an at home hobby long arm quilting machine but after a bad back injury I can no longer quilt my own tops. I haven't even tackled finding a good quilter to do them!

The Fat Quarter Shop Mystery Block-of-the-Month is the block I cut the striped fabric wrong. Boo Hoo.
Oh no!
They are generous with the fabric. I cut it wrong the first time and then cannot believe I did the same thing a second time. Arrrgh. 😆 @@NicholSpohrLLC
