I’d say the summer of 1976 was the best ever, a bit like living in southern France rather than southern England. And the summer of 2024 was the worst one I’ve ever known. The few short couple of days of heat events just didn’t make up for such a late spring and early autumn that we’ve had. Brian’s way of presenting the weather forecast is great. Concentrating on the weather rather than going on about how accurate he was about last week’s etc. I look forward to each video.
this time last week in the south of England was perfect even the weekend overcast was pleasent except for some localised torrential rain and thunderstorms on Sunday. I was eating sunday lunch inside a pub and knew rain was not gong to let me eat outside looking at corfe castle and i was right, whilst eating pudding everyone scurried indoors. Hope you had a lovely time away, funny we were both on holiday at the same time 😁
Computer models calculate conditions at different levels in the atmosphere. This provides a more consistent and standardised way than using altitudes. It also makes it easier to see variations at given levels, e.g., ridge/trough patterns at the 500 hPa level. In terms of the computation itself, pressure levels have traditionally been used for data reporting, so it simplifies the processing needed.
I suspect that due to the dry second half to summer we may have an early Autumn in 2024. It will be interesting how first dates of ground frost pan out.
So many stupid comments about climate change on social media at the moment . Folk not thinking its real because of weather conditions in the UK etc etc . Could you make a video explaining how climate change effects the earth for all those still too lazy to do some research or even read the news ? .. Drives me mad!

Where were you in 2007 and 2012? They both were cooler and wetter than this summer.
A very average summer nice!
Thanks
Been getting mist at times the last few day. Near the east cost of Scotland.
Great update as always
Thanks

Thanks. Hope you enjoyed your holiday too
Worst summer ever
Not my perspective, but as I've mentioned a number of times much depends on where in the UK you are
Nice video Brian
Thanks
Late October temperatures next week?!
Definitely below par at the moment. The lows tonight will be interesting
It could be a long winter😢
I hope not.I hate winter.
Proper autumn next week, at least temporarily.
It was well modelled I think
is there a reason they give temps at hpa pressure and not altitude ? Very nice to hear the words `warm in the north `

What summer. None in Scotland
The contrast between north and south has been particularly acute this year I think

I'd expect ground frost to be widespread tonight
Will be intresting to see what happens.
Be interesting to see how the rest of September develops.
Autumn today here, wi d and rain 16c then 24c and sun tomorrow, typical early Autumn 🍂, cheers Brian.
Thanks

It's always worth remembering that the UK is a very small part of the globe!
