That's a thing, actually. There's this story of one heresy era chaos marine. He's friends with this marine from one of the loyalist legions, and they fought during the heresy. The chaos guy won. While he was fighting the guy, he said something along the line of wanting to kill him again and again. So now, because the idea amused the gods, he's constantly running into the loyalist marine's "descendants" who became astartes with his geneseed. The chaos astartes can recognize a family resemblance. The thing is, the chaos marine has lost his will to keep the grudge going, but is compelled to do it for the amusement of chaos. It's a better fate than turning into a chaos spawn.

You forgot the fact that he turned on his chassis lights to make it easier for the crew-slave he was protecting to see the rooms he was grandpa describing on their way around the catacombs.

“I have to, finish everything for that boy.” For context he technically didn’t defeat Jain Zar, only finished her off after Talos mortally wounded her with an explosive suicide attack after he allowed her to impale him, so I’d give credit to defeating her to First Claw and Malcharion just doubled tapped her under his heel to finish the job.

It is a slightly grimderp piece of lore. Because if this did happen, then Malcharion would have been responsible for killing a dreadnought who should have been the Blood Angels equivalent of Bjorn. A veteran from the Heresy, possibly the crusade and more importantly someone who fought during the siege of Terra itself. If that dreadnought had been there, then the sheer prestige of him would have likely kept him confined on Baal for most of the time, not out fighting wars with small strike groups like here.

If I remember correctly he just shut down and not died. The main point of Malcharion is that he cant die and get rid of the Dreadnsught. Next time he will be put in Redemptor Dreadnaught that kills its pilot, and stillbMalcharion will survive.😊

Nope but the NLs cut open the downed dreadnaught of the Blood Angels open when it downed by the war sage’s drednaught (both beat each other) then the NLs carved up the lump of meat that was the blood angel inside the dreadnaught.
