    Quick summary of both the comment section and the review: So we have Simgot Ea1000/500LM which are very hyped (maybe a little overhyped even), but the Oxygen has been a long time sub-300 single DD king, this seems to be an "improved" oxygen. And these are both said to be miles better than any other single DD. Maybe someone will verify the claims eventually?

    Looks near identical to Kara with much higher upper mid and treble, adhering to the harman target. Not sure if that's good when people are starting to prefer tuning akin to ThieAudio Hype 4, where upper mid is more like the Kara instead. Either way, $250 for this is a really tough sell unless you're a big fan of Tanchjim in general.

    The thing that's unique about the Kato is that I haven't seen any other IEM since meet universal praise in reviews at release.
    Not even any of the colabs from Crin, HBB, Z or Gizaudio. In every instance the consensus doesn't go over 2/3rds.
    Kato hit like 19/20ths consensus - seriously - go look up launch reviews, I've watched dozens of them. This is a big deal to me because we all have different ears, and with that much praise the Kato isn't just "safe", it's practically guaranteed to thrill.

      @Mageoftheyear 10 месяцев назад

      @@sofiaclemente7925 Nope. Not the Hexa, nor the Zero. Waner and absolutely not the Blessing 2 - there are lots of reviews that find it too light on bass.
      Guys, when I say universal praise I do not mean that the IEM got a recommendation at the end of the review - I mean that in almost every category of performance of sound it was universally praised *at launch.* Obviously, in cases such as Timmy's review he feels many IEMs have since eclipsed its position. That's fine. I'm not reviewing Timmy's opinion.
      Nor am I calling your favourite IEM bad doo doo.
      And I am not telling you that the Kato is the best IEM to have ever existed at the price. If I listened to enough IEMs I'm sure I'd find something I like much more.

This has been the price range of the top 1DDs for a while, and Kato launched there too. So I really don't get people saying this is priced too high, it's priced according to it's competition, which Tanchjim is confident they're better than. Origin is about $120 more then the Kato for me in Australia, from HifiGo. I can't justify that. The Kato is already being out priced by Moondrop with the Aria 2. How are you recommending this and saying Moondrop are second place.

    moondrop beautiful world?

    • @burns0100
      @burns0100 10 месяцев назад

      From the chart it's basically a clone. Kato with less bass and slight tilt towards the treble. Just lacking the accessories BW offers. Honestly I can't see how he says it's outright better then Kato when I've A/B'd the BW and Kato and only on certain songs can I really notice a difference.
      I did get my BW for free so price isn't a factor in my reviews. I'd imagine Origin just sounds like a cleaner Kato simply due to the same reason the BW sounds like a cleaner Kato. Less bass, more high end but well balanced to not sound harsh. Same question people say with BW, would you bother spending the extra money for such a small change.

      Moondrop and softears are, I dont think tanchjim is though, maybe same manufacturer since many companies share manufacturers for shells and drivers.

    The iem measurements don't tell you everything.
    I used to own both Kato and ea500, and I can understand that Origin is more expensive. If you say it's as good as the price difference, it might not be. Like 1000 dollar iem is not 10x sound quality of 100 dollar iem.

    Bruh, current single dd goats are Simgoats - that's what you have to compare against, not freakin Aria2, nobody cares about Aria anymore!!! Nor about Falcon or Oxygen. And KATO?? That's like from the previous century lol!

    • @andrewskiiii
      @andrewskiiii 10 месяцев назад

      Disagree and I have the EW200’s and EA1000’s. Are they really good? yes but they’re not the GOATS of anything, they’re just the latest and greatest current hyped IEM’s right now. Newest does not always = better

    Single DD sets are about to become dinosaurs anyway with the advent of DSP and MEMS drivers. All of them will end up in a museum IMO.

    • @kaavik47
      @kaavik47 10 месяцев назад +4

      Not really. They are much faster and more precise. I think DDs will still be employed for bass thump and timbre in many implementations, and single DD sets may still be common in the low end of the market, but I doubt there will be any that will be able to compete at $200+ except for nostalgia value. Time and the market will tell.

    • @miki890098
      @miki890098 10 месяцев назад +5

      And if it was priced like the Moondrop chu, it would be even better! /s
      If this really is that much better than the Kato, I think it wouldn't be realistic to expect such a product to be priced that low, we're still talking about a very high-level single dd, and single dd's are much harder to tune than hybrid iems. For them to have achieved such a controlled tuning means they have probably spent a lot of time perfecting it and making it sound as smooth as possible, plus the build quality alone means the price cannot be that low. Imo the price is "right" for what it is, the question now is who would still want to spend that money on a single dd, and I think there is a market for people who prefer single dd's to hybrid, for them to get the best possible option for under 300 I would say it's reasonable. It's not going to be the best absolute iem you can get for the price, but if that's what you want specifically well now there's an option
