I am a retired JD Tech. Yes this is an issue. I have welded and ground back to original. Great job investigating this issue. This can happen when the customer shuts the PTO OFF..or on...snap!

The two videos gave me some info’ to give to the JD dealer. Their first attempt fell short of success. Dropping the mower (again) today to see if they can fix it. Again, thanks!

I'm so glad I found you. In the last 2 years, I have gone through 6-7 belts on my 300x. I've taken it into JD. They insisted there was nothing wrong. Only to have another brand new belt break in 3 days.
    Thank you so much.

Thanks for the update ! I'm going to check out my bolt hole next. Got 500 hours on my x300, so I'm guessing this could be an issue.

The PTO clutch can wear and pinch your belt too and break belts clean

    Off the subject, sorry.
I watched your quick and easy roofing a valley video and wondering how did it hold with the rain and winds? I'm going to do this with my roof. Any pointers? Kick ass video!! Thanks

That was 2 or 3 years ago now and one of my friends who builds houses has a roofer that showed him this way apparently called a California valley. Anyways lot's of wind and some significant snow last few seasons and zero issues with method
