What is Postcolonialism?
Since I claim to be a postcolonialism scholar, I think it is apt to include a brief description of my field of study. In my view, Postcolonialism ( also written as Post Colonialism or Post-Colonialism) is a dynamic field of literary study that focuses on the history of colonialism and native responses to the colonial policies and life after colonialism formally ends. The field of postcolonialism also offers insights into the literature and culture of the the former European colonies and their struggles after the end of colonialism.

These videos are very underrated thankgod I found this I can do my assignment very nicely now thank you so much
You're very welcome!
I think poetry is best left untaught, as it is easier to appreciate and understand on one's own without the influence of instruction. Teaching poetry may detract from its inherent value and meaning, possibly rendering it less effective or meaningful to those who engage with it.
I guess that’s one way of looking at it but we are required to teach it and I feel an informed education about poetry is better than no education about it.
M literature student. Sir i used to watch your videos with heart coz they provide knowledge and secondly your accent, way of speaking is sublime. Stay blessed. Keep uploadong such objective topics
Thank you so much.
Thank you for this lecture Sir. Kindly give brief explanations of definitions of poetry according to romantic poets like Wordsworth's. And also about novel, drama etc
Thank you. Yes, I will slowly develop this as part of my course content.
Great deal of thanks ! Two humble questions
1. Considering the cultural sensitivity of Poetry is that possible to have universal definition ?
2. Can we say good poet skill is borned or aquired through learning ? considering the specialized language as a unique characterstics of poetry .
Finally , I started to see your videos few days before but already addicted with your thoughtful insight .
Thank you. This is specific to a course that I am planning to teach for American students. I don’t think there is a need for a universal definition. I guess one can have an inclination toward poetry but it can be taught as well. But the natural desire will have to be there for training to be helpful.
10 Best quotes about poetry.
1. "Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility."
- William Wordsworth
2. "Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality."
- T.S. Eliot
3. "Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words."
- Robert Frost
4. "Poetry cannot afford to lose its fundamentally self-delighting inventiveness, its joy in being a process of language as well as a representation of things in the world."
- SEAMUS HEANEY
5. "If I read a book and it makes my whole body so cold no fire can ever warm me, I know that is poetry."
- EMILY DICKINSON
6. "Poetry is a river; many voices travel in it; poem after poem moves along in the exciting crests and falls of the river waves. None is timeless; each arrives in an historical context; almost everything, in the end, passes. But the desire to make a poem, and the world's willingness to receive it--indeed the world's need of it--these never pass."
- MARY OLIVER
7. "Poetry: the best words in the best order."
- S.T. Coleridge
8. “A good poem is a contribution to reality. The world is never the same once a good poem has been added to it. A good poem helps to change the shape of the universe, helps to extend everyone’s knowledge of himself and the world around him.”
-Dylan Thomas
9. “Poetry might be defined as the clear expression of mixed feelings.”
-W.H. Auden
10. "If poetry comes not as naturally as the leaves to a tree it had better not come at all. "
- John Keats

Sir,
To please make clear the word 'compact' in the discussion.
Thank you I think I did clarify it. But it simply means that the lines are controlled and don’t include excessive details.
@@masoodraja Thank you Sir
Welcome.
