Still miss you Zou ......Its strange to see him alive on the screen and playin that guitar .Remember how Zou really wanted that guitar with its bend body ,fret and wood problems ..It was a wall decoration to be honest .He had to get it fixed to make it play and sound like he shows here .Zou came by my house regularly to see if i had some 6 string interesting to him.. He was allways looking for the one guitar really matching his playing and changed guitars often .The well known guitarplayers burden and lifetime search for the perfect guitar ..

Soukouss is not west African. It is a Bantu music from the two Congo wihich span an area in Central Africa that borders Southern and East Africa

Love this rhythm and picking style. Zou Diarra was a legend. Master of multiple instruments, built them himself. So sad he's gone. I'd love to know what kind of guitar this semi-hollow is... perhaps it's Zoumana's own design?

It was as far as i remember an old eastern German guitar ,When he saw it hanging at my wall he imediately wanted it alldow it was in a bad shape . It looked nice but the frets were wrong ,the steel was good but the head was twisted. It cost him some but eventually this is what he made it sound like . Zou was allways fixing some sort of instruments or building a Cora and stuff like that in his little wooden shed behind the house .I think even that wooden shed he build himself .

You hit the open B, then 2nd fret on the G and 1st fret on the low E simultaneously, then a pull off from one to open on the high E, finish on the 3rd fret of B

    tres bien la vidéo.
pour les debutants comme moi, c'est mieux de montrer case par case les cordes qu'on doit jouer avant de passer à la partique
