If you mean the plastic under trays, then yes definitely re-install them and make sure they are not damaged. These protect the heater from water, mud and foreign objects hitting the heater unit. If broken, these can be replaced via VW or from online sellers!
Does fitting the heater outside greatly reduces the noice vs having it inside, or does the noise still travels through the hot air conduct anyway? Cheers
Mounting the heater outside the van does reduce noise as you don’t have the “burner” noise inside. Even outside you do still have the fan output noise through the vent. These heaters are probably one of the quietest diesel heaters we’ve installed over the years! Maybe we’ll do a video soon with a decibel reading on external and internal installation to help show the difference!
Hi, Autoterm Planar did offer a modem up until the last couple of weeks! These have been temporarily removed from sale due to issues with the phone service providers network. Once Planar have a solution hopefully they’ll be back on sale! On the comfort controllers you can always set a timer or delayed start for the heater!
Yes, the diesel heater can run with the van running or not. So the vehicle heater (operated via the engine coolant temp) and the diesel heater are completely separate.
Autoterm with comfort controller (comfort so the wrong word) Worst product I ever bought. Unreliable no connection in the digital display. The installer and the manufacturer arguing between themselves who and what is causing it to be £1000 of trash
Thanks for the feedback, was it a registered Autoterm dealer that fitted it? Definitely sounds like you have a electrical connection issue! We’ve fitted hundreds or these and they’ve been the lost reliable heater we’ve installed. We’ve installed all of the main brands!
Do you refit the sill covers back over the heater or is it not recommended/not enough space?

Is that 4 inch ducting?
Hi Chris, This is 60mm Ducting for heater inlet and outlet. On the bigger heaters you can use a 90mm Ducting.
Many Thanks
Simon
Is it possible to turn on these heaters remotely so when you get back to the van it is on and warm inside?
