in my opinion, if you have a low budget or just want to save money and are going to mount them behind your monitor, then i think you should go with the govee rgbic strips because they cost a lot less and they can act the same as a play bar behind your monitor. For other uses like maybe lights for your stream or stuff like that, then you should definetly buy it
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
You have the best rgb lighting I have ever seen in a room. Simple , clean , the vibes it gives with the galaxy projector . Best set up I’ve seen. I dream of having a setup like this

You learn to live with it. I have the govee immersion led strip tv backlight and I thought the camera would be off putting, and it was at first but I quickly learnt to ignore it. Plus you can install it below the tv and IMO it's less noticeable. If your TV does not support android / not open source the only way to mimic color on screen is via this camera.
The problem the Hue owners are beginning to realize is that there isn't really an elegant solution for 4k 120hz passthrough or splitting. I imagine that Philllips will need to release a new hub that has higher bandwidth HDMI pass through. The Govee stuff bypasses that by not needing to mess with the HDMI signal (at the expense of some accuracy of knowing what's on the screen)
I am deep into the govee ecosystem and I ordered and have over 100 feet of rgbic strips and 4 bulbs and 8 outlets and a cheap 26 dollar strip and I'm getting flow pro and maybe table lamp.
I almost bought the Philips hue lightbar... then Govee came in clutch and I instantly bought them! They're really nice, especially for the price. Great review man!
Just got a set of these. And man they're bad ass. Worth every bit of the 79$ they go for on Amazon currently. You would spend more on just a bipod corner led accent lamp, which only usually come in one singular color or limited RGB and they have zero special features like sound and rhythm control, tv immersion, echo or Google assistant home device control or custom app and color scheme control. These things are bad ass. If you're hesitant. Don't be they're well worth every penny and more IMO. They definitely are a Phillips hue killer. And no shill involved on my end. I have no issue calling trash out as it is. These are not that. If I was to nitpick, their is a very small millisecond or so delay when using the tv immersion mode. But barely noticeable. Have been playing monster hunter on them and the range they provide is amazing. Love these things. Thanks for the review brother. Soon as I seen it I jumped and bought them immidietly. Sorry so long winded just wanted to help ppl who may be on edge about these as much as I can.
I was just about to order the Philips Hue bars as I currently have a number of their excellent bulbs but just watched your video & ordered the Govee bars, I do already have a Govee LED strip kit in the kitchen which again for the money was a no brainer and so easy to install in 5 minutes. Clearly Govee are a serious competitor to Philips who clearly sell off their brand reputation like most companies but it’s good to see another company offering quality products at much better prices for the consumer.
I actually replaced my hue strips with Govee and now I am getting these too, thanks man, can't wait for you to move to USA even though I am not in Colorado anymore
Yeah it’s half the price but the way philips hue integrates with with each other is beyond anything Govee will ever do. Syncing hue with razor chroma sync is phenomenal without the need for a camera in your pc.
A cheaper alternative to these light bars are the Tzumi "AuraLED Illumalight multicolor LED light Bar". You can usually find them for about $10 USD on Walmart
Govee is one of my favorites for RGB lights. They finally have light bars now too. I always wanted a pair of these from Philips but not at their price, now I think I’ll pick up a pair from Govee.

The playbars are so damn expensive for what they are. But just remember you're not only paying for the hardware, you're paying for the sync service and the whole ecosystem. The sync service and 3rd party sync android apps work seriously well.
I look d into the Phillips and the pack of 2 bars is $129.99 and the bridge is $49.99! So I just bought a pair of the Govee brand and they are Amazing Thank you

Would have loved to see these lights in a brightly lit room with no other lights on. Your other light bars being on really don't help in giving ideas on what it looks like. Would also love to see the white light color accuracy and temp range (if any).
I really like both. I do still prefer the phillips hue lights for a smart home though. Especially because of the outdoor lighting and lightbulbs. Even though Govee has many features, phillips is available in more variety of lights. Do both are great, but both are good for different things
I'm setting my room up with the light blue and hot pink accents as well. I find it brings out that 80's vibe the best. Plus it matches my sweet whip in GTA Online with the Vice City Logo and underlighting. 🔥
Really cool room. Thanks for the heads up. I have been looking at the Play Bars but find it hard to justify the price for what I want them for. They seem overly expensive to me, and buying them for my desk setup and also the kids bedrooms would cost a ton of money. I'd rather buy some strips.
I definitely will get some eventually, like you said, the multiple lights at once is enough for me, but on top of the fact that you could literally get 2 sets of these for LESS than 1 philips set not including the hub at current pricing(150+50 for hub) so that more than makes up for brightness difference
Yeah…my Philipps Hue HDMI sync box was expensive that goes with my Hue Play LED strip behind my 55’’ Samsung, but the immersiveness of the experience is unmatched, and much cleaner than having a camera attached to the top of my tv. Firestick, PS4/PS5, etc, makes everything streaming through it an amazing experience, with zero lag. Expensive, but worth it if you have the cash for it.
Im also really happy that Govee actually made it possible to mount the camera upwards vs downwards. The camera is way less noticeable that manner. That was first thing that came to mind when i saw this implementation on other products from them. Quite didnt understand why it needs to go top to bottom perse
Im going to make hack on these. Im adding velcro to see if that works. Then i can switch the camera between monitors and led tv. So i hope that works out
Bought these awhile back after watching this very video, they really are amazing and well worth the price. I also never use the video mode, it's too distracting but I never use stuff like that in any of my gear. Love the channel by the way

Was a big govee fan for years but in the pandemic they've had pretty big quality issues. That's why I've bought Philips hue then. Now I have the problem that govee has many nice products but all of them are going over WLAN and I don't want two connection types in my smart home system. And ZigBee is for me the way to go at the moment
Agreed, you can see both bars showing the same color even though the color is present on one side only, Philips Hue play bars is definitely superior in terms of color accuracy, and that’s a deal breaker of Govee’s version for me…If they managed to overcome this problem I would definitely switch, but I guess that’s the limitation of using a camera instead of a software. Too bad you can’t have best of both worlds, Govee’s multicolor scenes feature did impress me.
Tzumi light bars are 9.99 at walmart, are app enabled, sound enabled etc. Are linkable.. they even sell a 6.5' led strip which I used to make some can lights that are also synced with the other lights..
Not sure if I have a cheaper model But the color red is more on the orange end of the spectrum. it's not bad but when you put next to a rgb strip that has a more color accurate red it almost looks like it's orange
well, the only reason I bought the play bar was to sync them with my movies/games so they didn't quite killed them yet for me. If we remove that from the equation they are awesome for the price
Just FYI, Govee sells the exact same thing, just without the camera, and it's $50, so if you don't want the cam, then get those. I am pretty sure they are just called Govee Flow (no pro in it)

Only issue i have with govee is the lack of customization with the stream deck, you can use IFTTT which only has 3 settings, none of which sets a scene and have to set each light individually which is a bit tedious
One big difference is the Hue Hub. Being hard wired to your router lessens your wifi traffic as opposed to a bunch of wifi only led lights. Not as big a deal for some people as it is for others. Personally I dig these and the Immersion lights.
Not only the lights and the hub, the app is the best around, so intuitive and the lights will last for 20 years or more, the hub can be use to control all the philips hue lights and the app will keep getting updates every month all for 180 usd, i think is the right price... You would think like me if you are a developer, is not easy or cheap to keep developing and maintaining this app, so guys get some piece of good technology for your space, you won't regret, best lights around...
I am not sure if you've seen but LIDL also released RGB LED bars based on ZigBee (so Hue compatible). I know they're released in the Netherlands but I have no idea if they're available for you. They go for 30€ a piece. They also made the table lamps, LED strips, GU10 etc. All based on ZigBee.
I’ve decided I’m gonna save up my money to buy all the things I need for my dream setup. Although it will take forever (since I don’t have a job) I’d rather have an expensive, great quality setup, rather than a cheap, bad quality setup.
I bought Hue Bar and This to see the difference. Really disappointed in Hue because you have to spend so much on the hub, bars and Sync box to get the same results. It's crazy. Thanks for a great review
5:58 I'd like to see a version of these with a usb power option, not a battery but something to power them from a cellphone charger and an optional light protocall, so i can pre program light intencity fluctuations sepuretly from color. That would be a good DIY Movie situation
I am getting the and already have two light bulbs a go and a light strip. I don’t think the price is bad for what your getting from it. First off the GUI of Phillips hue is much better. I really matter what eco system you are in
Thinking about putting something like this on my TV I like the idea of the ambient light that matches watch is happening on the screen but that extra camera is an eye sore. Might be worth it for the price though.
i have a mix of both kinda.. but i just like that Phillips Hue can connect 3 to the power module instead of 2. I have Phillips hue everything from the bulbs, LED strips, and the light bars behind my mointors and TV.. it does suck that it cost more but, the end result is sick. I will probably pick up that sleek Govee glide back to place on the wall tho

Wow, many thanks. I just installed the Hue lightstrip on my screen porch tv yesterday and love it. Was about to pull the trigger on Hue Play for my den but I think I'm going with Govee since I need 4 lamps. Currently $60 at Amazon for the pair.
I just wish their TV set was modifiable so you could put the strips on say a 27" monitor. But since the 4 strips are already fixed together... yeah... huge bummer.
The sad part is that govee products are not available in Sweden. If i would buy them from Amazon they would be so expensive. I'd have to first of all pay for the product, then shipping and then toll and then some other fee that I don't know why it exists. I'm sadly going to have to stick to hue products at the moment.

If the govee lights are WiFi version's then you can use alexa to turn the lights on and off

What is the advantage of light bars if you can buy the LED strips for the back of the tv? Do they look cooler or something?
I wouldn't call them "the killer" as they aren't as good for color sync but they are however a great alternative for a better price.
Less people care about the sync feature than just using them as supplemental lighting.

A camera sticking out from the tv is a huge deal breaker, although the technology does indeed not seem to be all that convincing anyway.

I am not sure if you've seen but LIDL also released RGB LED bars based on ZigBee (so Hue compatible). I know they're released in the Netherlands but I have no idea if they're available for you. They go for 30€ a piece. They also made the table lamps, LED strips, GU10 etc. All based on ZigBee.
I’ve decided I’m gonna save up my money to buy all the things I need for my dream setup. Although it will take forever (since I don’t have a job) I’d rather have an expensive, great quality setup, rather than a cheap, bad quality setup.

I don't like them tbh. I've just left them up cos I cba to take them down right now. They work fine, I just don't like them personally

I bought Hue Bar and This to see the difference. Really disappointed in Hue because you have to spend so much on the hub, bars and Sync box to get the same results. It's crazy. Thanks for a great review

I am getting the and already have two light bulbs a go and a light strip. I don’t think the price is bad for what your getting from it. First off the GUI of Phillips hue is much better. I really matter what eco system you are in

Thinking about putting something like this on my TV I like the idea of the ambient light that matches watch is happening on the screen but that extra camera is an eye sore. Might be worth it for the price though.
i have a mix of both kinda.. but i just like that Phillips Hue can connect 3 to the power module instead of 2. I have Phillips hue everything from the bulbs, LED strips, and the light bars behind my mointors and TV.. it does suck that it cost more but, the end result is sick. I will probably pick up that sleek Govee glide back to place on the wall tho

Wow, many thanks. I just installed the Hue lightstrip on my screen porch tv yesterday and love it. Was about to pull the trigger on Hue Play for my den but I think I'm going with Govee since I need 4 lamps. Currently $60 at Amazon for the pair.

I just wish their TV set was modifiable so you could put the strips on say a 27" monitor. But since the 4 strips are already fixed together... yeah... huge bummer.

As one of the original testers for this product, I can say that these are awesome.
You don't need a philips hue bridge to make them work. I think you used to. Now the Bridge just allows some extra abilities or whatever.
Just want to point out, that you do not need the Hue Bridge any longer, if you have Echo 4th Gen devices in your house, as they are a zigbee hub.

The sad part is that govee products are not available in Sweden. If i would buy them from Amazon they would be so expensive. I'd have to first of all pay for the product, then shipping and then toll and then some other fee that I don't know why it exists. I'm sadly going to have to stick to hue products at the moment.
