    • @aporifera

      No, when the casino robs you, you are a willing participant in a game known to have the odds rigged in their favor. The rules are laid out plain and visible, and you participate with informed consent. But any device to cheat the machines is sabotage and clearly something the casino did not consent to. I don't like gambling but it is what it is. If you don't like it either, don't go. If enough people choose responsibility over adrenaline, the casinos will go bankrupt all on their own. If not, the gamblers are essentially paying for the adrenaline, not an investment opportunity anyway.
      On a side note, a much bigger scam is arcades, with much worse odds of winning, less transparent rules, and preying on young children. That'll give you something else to feel indignant about.

      Anyone naive to believe Casinos don't have a house advantage will get a rude shock. In reality there are a few reasonable bets in casinos.
      -The main 'Come' bet in craps has a very low house advantage, about 1% or so. Most of the other bets on the crap table are not worth it.
      -Video poker games. They visually advertise the payout on them. Machines that pay well for pairs and three of a kind are good machines. Machines that have huge rewards for royal flushes but play less for pairs are not good machines to play.
      -Human vs human poker has no house advantage, win or lose is up to you.
      Slot machines are NOT good to play if you expect to win. The other table games like baccarat, Let It Ride etc are reasonable.
      But card counting gives THE PLAYER an unfair advantage. It's borderline cheating. The player is using a predicting tool in a GAMBLING game, which is totally missing the point, it's the gambling equivalent of insider trading. Don't act all butthurt because you didn't get to be a millionaire at casino blackjack

      Casinos can ban these products from being used on their property, it's their property so they can do what they want. Making them illegal, however, is an excessive use of power that no private company should be able to do.

    Reverse engineering the encryption on DVDs is what led to VLC being able to play them when little else would. And to software which can remove all protections so you can rip the contents. Each DVD has a set of keys based on which manufacturer of the device being used to read it can us since each DVD player maker has to pay for a license to get a key so their player works. But it uses an 8 bit key (if I remember right - it's laughably simple) which is easy to figure out.

    • @ShawnF6FHellcat
      @ShawnF6FHellcat 22 days ago

      When you get a speeding ticket you generally have to pay a fine of which goes directly to the government as income. The amount of income coming from tickets dropped significantly with the introduction of those devices, meaning a drop in government income aka "revenue". I don't see what's weird about it when that's objectively what all fines are for all governments, simply revenue. Does your country not have fines for speeding violations that go directly to the government?

    It would be a lot harder to get away with a device today, besides the fact that jackpots haven't been paid out in coins / tokens for almost 2 decades.. Every inch of casino floor space is CCTV monitored and you can bet every big win is closely scrutinized to ensure it was fair. In order to turn the tables, you have to think of something the casino operators haven't yet thought of and if you do find a loophole, for heavens sake don't make it obvious. Spread your winning edge across a gamut of casinos. Don't play in one spot.

    When Radar Jammers were banned, companies started making Radar Detectors. When your detector signaled that is is a radar in the area you would simply slow down to the posted speed limit. This would work because the Detector would signal a radar in the area before the police could get a fix on your specific car and be able to pick you at of the crowd on a busy highway. Some departments combated this by having a Radar just being active at a certain stretch of highway. Your detector would "go off" at this same location day after day and you would start to ignore the device at this location. And then one day the radar has an officer and a few extra cars ready to pull over the speeders.

    • @lonniemcclure4538
      @lonniemcclure4538 27 days ago +3

      Radar detectors came to the consumer market well before jammers.
      -
      Radar detectors are apparently illegal in Virginia and Washington DC.

    • @johnp139
      @johnp139 27 days ago +2

      The radar transmitters were then changed to a “burst” mode…basically they were silent until a cop saw a vehicle that may be speeding and then it shot a short burst to detect the speed. Now most detectors are optical and can’t be easily detected.

    All those gadgets to cheat at casinos were always illegal especially the flashlights. They were tampering with the machine. So being caught shining the flashlight into the slot machine was an offense. All they had to do was check the video and not pay.

    • @DeputyNordburg

      @DeputyNordburg You haven't been to a casino if you don't know that there is video everywhere. It is in the ceiling. If a machine is spewing out that many coins then someone would be able to see the flashlight that someone is holding.

    Cool Stuff! Actually, tho, you missed a key point on your #2 item abut blood transfusion. It wasn't only the excess blood that helped, it was the fact that the athletes would train at very high elevations before the race so their blood could absorb more O2. Then THAT blood was frozen and injected weeks later just before the race. Yeah - it sucked.

    • @jackmandu

    How could you detect extra blood?

    • @markae0
      @markae0 27 days ago +1

      Blood starts to rot-go bad as soon as it leaves your body. I think they have to freeze it and-or seperate out the red blood cells. A simple blood test also would detect an abnormally large amount of oxygen carriers. Blood banks always need new and fresh blood.

    • @jackmandu
      @jackmandu 27 days ago +1

      You can do a regular CBC (complete blood count) test and measure the number of red blood cells (RBCs). This is a normal lab test you get during a physical or visit to the ER, it also includes the number of white blood cells and platelets. The normal range of RBCs is pretty wide, but blood doping would probably show up as an abnormally high level. There are a couple of other measurements you can where they compare the volume of the RBCs to the volume of plasma, mean corpuscular volume (MCV). When blood doping, they would typically separate the RBCs from the plasma and infuse only the RBCs. This means the volume of RBCs compared the volume of plasma is now higher than normal.

    When I was training with my local police department in the mid '90's, one person in my class asked about these jammers. The official answer was that they were not concerned about the jammers, as the police officer could see that they were jammed, and that fact could often be enough to convince a jury in a legal case to rule in favor of the police officer.
    Then came the federal ban - pretty much any officer I knew (I chose not to join the force) was really confused when the Federal government came down on what appeared to them to be a non-issue. I don't think it had any effect in my area except for a number of people, including police officers, complaining of government overreach. Maybe some speeders got more specific fines after the ban. Yes, they were not illegal, but they were effectively screaming "I have something to hide!"
    Also, laser speed detectors were replacing the radar ones at a rapid rate anyway. Yes, laser jammers were also a thing, but they were far less effective. By the time the ban was in place, laser speed detectors were the rule in my area, at least.

    You want to know a reliable trick to never worry about speed traps, radar guns, and the like? It’s so simple a child could do it! Follow the speed limit! If you don’t speed police lose their ability to pull you over for speeding!

      If something becomes illegal, then it becomes bussiness to criminal world. This could become way worse than we can imagine in no time. Gang run underground casinos with all the extras that accompany criminal businesses.

    Police Radar uses K-Band and X-Band frequencies. In order to jam a frequency you need a higher energy output than the return on the radar device and since you don't know the exact frequency, you need to jam multiple frequencies at once. The FCC got involved because civilian and military satellites use K-band frequencies and military satellites use X-band. Radio frequencies are heavily regulated in general. So no, the FCC didn't ban jammers so local cops could generate revenue, the FCC doesn't care about that. But they do care when entire frequencies spectrums are being jammed. We have to share the airwaves a bit responsibly or things like communications simply won't work.
