      @@artandarchitecture6399 it’s not just free speech when it’s solicited to all students during an official university orientation. The implication for the students is that it is an official document from the university unless otherwise stated. Also, the university is public, but the orientation is private attendance for students and families of students to attend. It’s just a shitty disingenuous and manipulative practice, not simply free speech. Students operating like that are hiding under the guise of official proceedings to legitimize their positions among the freshman. It’s a tactic used by people who can’t stand on their arguments without grifting people to believe them. If the ideas are rational and backed by solid nuanced research, they wouldn’t need to do shit like this to convince people.

    • @JackHaveman52
      @JackHaveman52 6 месяцев назад +1

      Maybe those students are trying to mask that the word "folks" is an English translation of the German word "volks" and that the Nazis were very outspoken about the idea of "Volksgemeinschaft".
      "Volksgemeinschaft, in Nazi Germany, a racially unified and hierarchically organized body in which the interests of individuals would be strictly subordinate to those of the nation, or Volk." From the Encyclopedia Brittanica.
      Radical socialist don't want to be associate with the Nazis even though they tend to believe in the same racially charged ideals. Whoopi Goldberg tried to do the same thing when she said the Holocaust wasn't about race. Of course, she'd say that. The ideology of The View is all about race and she supports it. She's trying to separate the race ideology of the Nazis and her own racially charged beliefs. Word manipulation has always been a major tool in the radical socialist armoury. It's how they control thought.

      Wait, so because “this people” advocate for their children to receive resources, children from minority backgrounds are denied services? As someone whose worked with Early Intervention, in a state that provides services at not cost to children in need, this isn’t adding up. In fact, many parents of inner city public school students have turned down evaluations that would open their children to a plethora of services. Some cultures value educational resources, some do not.

      The problem y’all seem to be having is that these universities dig their own graves with this “We support the First Ammendment on our campus.” Not only is this often hypocritical when universities inevitably create speech codes (which are often necessary, though clear limits on First Ammendment-protected speech); but also means that they can choose when to pull the “speech code” card or when to continue claiming their support for the First Ammendement.
      Simply put: you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Choose one or the other.
      Either you support the First Ammendment and ALL (and I mean ALL) speech is allowed and PROTECTED on your campus or you implement a speech code that bans ALL hate speech (including some which may be more fashionable nowadays, specifically antisemitism and closely related nonsense).
      If private universities simply stuck to their own narratives then the type of questioning that you mentioned would simply lose its power.

      Hearings like this one bring despicable things out into the light of day that otherwise would be cloaked in darkness on campuses and allowed to fester in the hearts and minds of students until that darkness erupted in the overt acts you are seeing in society now. American citizens need to know what our money (both taxes and tuition) is being spent in support of in our colleges and universities, whether public or private. We also need to know what subversion of various types is being taught in our elementary and secondary educational institutions as well. That is one positive thing that did happen as a result of Covid, the parents were given a glimpse of what was going on in America's public schools.

    Banks is off the mark here. She says that the students hand this out to students. He asks why they don't stop it. They have the right under the First Amendment to be wrong, and distribute whatever crap they want. "It's still allowed to be handed out to your students." means that their right to free speech isn't being violated. Yes, it is despicable. It is hateful. But let's not become like them and trample people's rights. They have the right to be wrong, and the right to be wrong in print.
