    Something IMPORTANT..
I am a ceramic artist and have been working with clay since 1980. Clay tends to dry out fairly quickly especially on hotter days in the sun. If a piece of clay sits out for even just a few min is dose start to stiffen which could change the effects and outcome.
I'm not sure how much set up time there is between shots, but it can effect it.
    Just trying to help.

Nice to see lighter bullets available for 22-250. Typically were heavier bullets...55 grains or so. The 204 matched the velocity and characteristics with lighter bullet and powder load, which was great for varmints. Barrel doesn't heat up as much, shots stay consistent. I've shot both, but I love the 204 for all day shooting. Savage 12FV.

204 will drop then like a sack of taters if you make a mid neck shot 😂. Hits like a grenade and explodes the arteries. I’d never made a broadside shoulder shot though. Bullet likely grenade before it penetrated deep enough to get the vitals. I’d say the 22 250 definitely will. But the 204 is so fast I doubt it would penetrate further enough

I’m a bit late to the party here, but I believe the ‘splody bits were due to the type of projectile these had. Being varmint rounds, they’re designed to ‘splode on impact. Here in Ireland back in the 70s and 80s we weren't allowed anything bigger than 22-250, lots of red deer were killed with neck shots ( irish red deer would be just a bit bigger than your American whitetail deer) but nowadays we're allowed bigger calibres thankfully. The 22-250 punches well above its weight thanks to its super high velocity.

On a gun-forum, one of the members claims to have fired 308 bullets out of a 50 BMG using sabots to seat the smaller, 30-caliber bullet. He said that it's not much fun to shoot for two reasons: 1) you have to remove the muzzle-brake, or the sabot will do it for you. This makes the recoil noticeably heavier. He said he got around that by shooting prone, and laying a 20-pound sand-bag against his shoulder and having the butt-stock press up against that. It worked, but he said it wasn't fun. 2) he said it's not that accurate, and only got 2-3 MOA at best.
      -
All that said, he claimed to have gotten 5K FPS with a 30-caliber projectile. He said that he shot a coyote with it and there was nothing left but blood, hair, and teeth.

Remember, the speed component in the energy formula is a non-linear squared function while the mass is a linear function.

Impressive! I would’ve thought the clay would’ve stopped the bullet also.

Hi, as usual, love all your videos. I found this one today by accident. (and I noticed you also have many clay block videos!) cool
I just wanted to share something that really surprised me a few years ago. I work part-time for a very wealthy friend/boss. He's NOT a gun guy but likes to have some for when friends come to his farm for visits. I fabricated two shooting ranges on a piece of his property. I also have the 'go ahead' to acquire any/all firearms I like for his collection.
I have several 22-250s and a Savage M12 204, of my own. Even rechambered two 22-250s to 22-250 AI. I have a machine shop. Not much faster, but fun and easy to do.
Anyway, along the way, he asked my opinion about buying a Barrett M107A1 (50 BMG). I told him all the 'negatives'. Ammo cost, one cal I DON'T reload, etc, etc.
Around the same time i added a Savage M12 SS HB in 22-250 for his collection. I knew the 22-250s performance.
So, I got a HUGE hunk of 1" AR500 steel and hung it at 125 yards.
The 50 BMG really smack the target. It makes a 'mark' on the steel that you can barely see. These are 660 gr FMJ.
WE found out the 'hard way', the 250 (even with 55 gr varmint bullets), crater the AR500 pretty significantly!
So much so, I had to put a tag on the 250 saying:
"Do NOT use this rifle on ANY steel targets"
This was in case somebody went into the safe and decided to 'try' it.
BTW, my boss has fired the M107A1 exactly ONE shot. I've been shooting for over 1/2 century and I can say I MUCH prefer the 250. In fact, I use the 250 to instruct new shooters.
I keep a supply of empty milk jugs for this. Proper hearing protection, safety glasses and a solid bench rest at 50 yards. The 250 is so heavy, no one has ever complained about recoil.
    Keep up the great videos.

The lighter bullets in the 22-250 smacked the clay harder this time than when you were using heavier bullets in the comparison between 22-250 and 243.

204 for prairie dogs works great. Light recoil lets you see the hits and its very accurate at 300+ yards. Wind deflection with 40gr ammo is low.
