In case anyone's interested, I believe the music is Yuzo Toyama's "Rhapsody for Orchestra" (later used by Masakazu Kagiyama for his SP in 1992-4). An outstanding SP, he was really pushing the boat out with a triple lutz combination in 1980! And amazing video quality, thank you so much for posting this gem.
今も昔も変わらぬものは、みのるちゅあんの居酒屋解説。ちなみに、五十嵐さんは、引退後企業でサラリーマンしながら、解説の仕事やってらして、選手上がりの解説者としてはダントツでした。ホントに冷静で、理知的で、みのるちゅあんの真逆。って、なんだかんだ言いながら、佐野先生のも好きなんですけどね。でもほんと五十嵐さんは、キスクラのアップ見ても、お育ち良さそうな知的なお顔なさってますよね。還暦だそうで、おめでとうございます。数年前に、体調を崩されたというて情報がありましたが、その後お元気なのでしょうか。

今も昔も、滑る技術は日本のお家芸ですね。五十嵐文男、佐野稔両選手をいまの日本のフィギュアスケート界の重鎮として、技術と表現力の見直しをして欲しいです
Interesting disparity of technical merit marks - some going as low as 5.4 and some as high as 5.9. But when you see the slow motion of the 3 lutz-2 loop combination you can clearly see the 3 lutz has a 2 foot landing so in reality he missed it. I guess the 5.8s and 5.9s were from judges who missed it and I have to be honest I missed it myself in real time and only noticed it when they replayed it in slow motion.
That’s not exactly the way I saw it. He landed the lutz cleanly on one foot and then put the free leg down as he went into the takeoff for the triple loop. I know that in combinations where the loop is the second jump you are supposed to take off from one foot with absolutely no assist of the left foot at any point... but why? When someone does a solo triple loop not in combination , they use the left foot as an assist on the takeoff for at least part of the set up into the jump. Why shouldn’t it be the same way when the loop is the second jump in a combination? When a toe loop is the second jump
In a combination, the skater is allowed to put the free leg down. I know, he didn’t do it correctly here according to conventional wisdom, but part of me thinks the way did it should be allowed as long as the landing of the first jump is cleanly done on one foot first before the free leg is put down in a controlled manner.
