- Day 375 - Today we're exploring a freaking castle! We're in Lancaster, England and we're touring an ancient castle that was literally built in the 1100s! It also used to be a jail which makes it pretty much the creepiest place on earth. But it's also insanely beautiful!

Amazing to see my home town being featured here 🙌🙌
Thanks for coming to England, and hope you enjoyed it. All the best!
Just "discovered" your site.... thanks for taking me along! You pay attention to the things I would and I appreciated your lack of cursing..happy and safe travels.
Crazy that to think when this castle was constructed America wasn’t even a country by which it’s known as now, I’m always astounded by our rich history of the U.K. and how old things are. You’re very lucky to be able to travel the world and see places and relive history. Many Americans don’t ever leave their country. Keep up the great vids
my best friend at school was Alan Meakin, his parents were the court keepers and they lived at Shire Hall at the back of the castle. Wonderful times exploring the castle and old dungeons with Alan.
Awesome vlog, everyone looks like they're having an amazing time too! Also completely forgot Lancaster Castle used to be a jail.
Thanks! Yeah, tons of history in this castle :o
Definitely. :) Seems like forever since I went there.
Lancaster represent!!
Seriously though, nice of you to come and visit our castle, it is quite impressive!
Also did you like Lancaster as a whole?
So , so homesick for my beloved Kirkby Lonsdale and my old Lancaster University . Changed so much since the late 1960s & early 1970s and now I would be considered an " outsider " .
If you come back you should check out Liverpool and Warwick castle to taste some proper fish and chips and see the Beatles story also the castle for medieval stuff
Keep going your work guys! Love your videos. Happy that you share your adventures with us!
+Gabriel Villabona thanks so much!
If you are in Lancashire again . Try visiting the Rivington area . There are 2 Anglo Saxon barns in which to dine. The top barn is the best next to the manor house. Their are ruined Chinese gardens and acres of open parkland and moors. Along with lakes.
This is such a beautifully shot video 😍
+Smay Prangley thanks a lot friend 😄
This is so crazy - I lived in Lancaster for 3 years for university.. if only I graduated university a year later - would have met you! We had the same tour guide! Missing that city 😭
ALSO known Tal for 3 years and there you are with him!
hi it me
It's Lanchasire
Hannah & Leon Lots to
shooketh this is the city of Lancaster ... not Lancashire, that’s the county. Idiot.
A noodle bar in the back of a supermarket??? Talk about unexpected! Really wishing we could have been touring with you guys over there!
+FitWanderLifestyle yeah, such a strange place!!
it's a chinese market that's why haha
1. I live in Lancaster and have done nearly all my life.
2. I didn’t even know there was a noodle bar at the back of the Chinese supermarket!
3. Umm you know it’s illegal in the UK to travel in the boot of a car right? 😛
4. Where in Lancaster did you stay - where approximately was the house?
5. Lancaster is awesome and where else did you visit?
Claire 😊
Lancaster Castle is so beautiful :)
It was awesome!
Its not the coops probably better looking
Hi guys, just started watching your vids and what an awesome job you've been doing round each country. If you do ever get back to the UK try and get to Lincoln, my home town, to see the Cathedral and Castle. At the castle you can see the Magna Carta (the 2 main written original copies) as it's now come home, learn about the birthplace of the Tank as well. If your brave you can try the walk from the town up to the Cathedral and Castle via Steel Hill, but the Pie Shop restaurant at the top is worth it :)
the castle was amazing! When I spent two weeks in Scotland, castles were the #1 places I visited--I too wasn't allowed to shoot in some locations..
Yeah, we've learened to just accept it when we can't film sometimes (or at least sneak a little footage 😂), but yeah, we definitely need to see more castles! What was the best one you visited?
You may enjoy on You Tube VACANCES 2014 PAYS DE GALLES &
ILE DE MAN a trip through the back roads of Wales on the way
to the Island we keep "secret" ,You was very near now you will
have to return one day
I have family in Lancaster, been many times but never gotten into the Castle, either a trial or renovations! Thanks for the tour 😂
You made that fun. I enjoyed it.
Lancaster castle is amazing...been ages since I've been there
Yeah it rocked. Wish we could have filmed inside though!
thank you for this cool and interesting video
Agree about the electrical cables. An eyesore.
I worked in "The Keep" in 1970 which was then used as a workshop for prisoners boot and shoe repair shop. Its a shame its not open to the public as it is a very interesting place.
Heeeeeey I said goodnight adventurers!!! :p
I love how I had the same footage as you but we randomly decided to use all different shots in our vlogs, it give a completely different perspective :)
Miss you guys!
😂 all about that perspective yo
to see honest opinions upon my beautiful country from a you guys who live in the palace of plenty chokes me so. Thank you so much for your input. Really interesting place is the UK with thousands of years of history. I often think if you live in the country that has it all...Why go elsewhere. Thanks to all curious folks I say :) Maybe Liverpool and Manchester next time to take in the industrial revolution and the 60's music rising.

Was great breaking into prison with y'all. It be cool if you guys could come bail me out sometime. I'm still waiting
We'll get right on that
you obviously had a good person tell you all the spots in Lancaster. the noodle bar is top of the list
I went to university there. Parts of the castle was still a prison about 3 years ago.
They sometimes now use one of the old wings for a club (disco) night, stopped after about 5 events.
I spent a year in Lancaster studying at uni, before going on a year abroad, so I know exactly where that shop is. I didn't realise it had a noodle shop, so when I get back, I'll have to try that
You absolutely need to go to Warwick castle, they've done it so well(since it is owned by Merlin), very informative and very fun.
cool video guys love castle ans british history
Amazing Trip....the wires are not very good looking. Nice to have tea, Scones and Chocolate cake. That is a scary castle. One could say the British get more bangs for their bucks! Talk about resourcing buildings.
"Going to see it proper" - sounds like you've been in the UK for a while! 😂
😂 I actually used to work with a couple British guys so I've been talking like that for a while!
Oh wow you went to the Lake District and Lancaster ❤️❤️❤️ I went to uni there
So interesting - but do they ever scrub down the castle walls? They are supposed to be cream or gray but are blackened in many places.
I went to university at Lancaster! Such a nice town.
Ha I travel to Lancaster 5 times a week and walk past the castle twice daily yet, after two years of working here, I have yet to step inside the castle!
I'm from Lancaster, beautiful castle always walk past but don't really appreciate it.
Lived here since I was 3. 1979. Always loved the town. A privilege to live here!
Nice one guys. Got my Beats by Dre headphones in so the tunes sound awesome!
i hope you guys can traveling to Bali indonesia.. or discover Indonesia, Im sure the cost is very very cheap, from Sumatra island, Java island, Bali Island, and Kalimantan Island .. Success for you both
+Adisty Nadia we definitely hope to see Bali soon!
Great Video!!!!! loved it!
🙌
The witches that were tried there are the Pendle Witches, which is where I am from. The trails pre-date Salem.
endless adventure that sweetcorn may not have had far to travel as we grow it all over England and its not sweetcorn in plastic as it was vacuumed packed to keep air out so that it remains fresh longer, also its a wonder you wasn't shown where people were hung in Lancaster prison/castle
I attended Lancaster University and went to a few of the raves in the prison. They were incredible, very surreal.
How awesome! We thought we misunderstood the guide when he first said they had raves there, haha! Hopefully they'll do more in the future :)
Love your UK videos. Great content.
Thanks Jordan! We've been having a blast exploring the UK :D
If you want an "old" castle, try Portchester Castle in Portsmouth Harbour, Hampshire. It has a Norman keep, but its outer walls are Roman from the 3rd century AD.....and it's completely intact. You could also get to see HMS Victory (Nelson's flagship at Trafalgar), HMS Warrior (the first armour-plated, iron hulled warship) and Henry VIII's Mary Rose.
That's actually the similar story to Lancaster Castle. Both medieval, Lancaster has a Norman keep inside the walls and it is on the same site as a roman fort dating back to 79AD.
Alnwick Castle is an incredible place to visit. The first two Harry Potter films were filmed there!
We'll have to check it out next time we visit. That would be so cool to see up close!
great place nice people
A Lannister always pays his debts.
I was there today for a school trip
I live very close to Lancaster
H.Walker i live there
Yeah HMP means *one thing* here in Blighty.
The a wing parties were awesone!
I've seen a number of these vids with these poor Yanks, who have never seen a day's sunshine in their whole tour of Britain. We do get some you know, honest!
Believe it or not we've seen it!
I live in lancaster
Love you guys an your adventures...let me know if you make it to ND And I'll hook you up..place to stay an all the dogs an cat you can handle
To Nd
I liked this video the best because I'm a proud Lancashire Lad and my daughter lives in Lancaster too!
Awesome! We loved Lancaster! :)
Being from Lancashire I shouldn't recommend this city but if you return to England visit York in Yorkshire www.visityork.org/ if you come back to Lancashire you have to visit Blackpool www.visitblackpool.com/ but you have to visit in summer as the town kind of closes down due to the winter weather. Also Manchester is very interesting and it comes with an international airport too!
HMP Lancaster stands for Her Majesty's Prison.......it was a working prison up until 2015 I believe. A lot of the older memorabilia in the cells is from years and years ago and doesn't reflect the fact it was a working prison less than 5 years ago.
Was a resident there back in the 90's lol
been In there as a prisoner one of best I've done time lived it
Dude! Riding in the boot (trunk) is VERY illegal here in the UK. If someone had rear ended you, you would of been seriously hurt or even killed.
Also it was a prison up until the 2000's
macca covi up till 2009 it held inmates
macca covi well done sherlick
0.33 HMP Lancaster Prison!
I guess if I had to be in prison a castle would probably be the best kind of prison. Kind of freaked out about that packaged corn haha.
+K + J Day x Day hah I suppose so. And yeah I wasn't going anywhere near that corn 😬 - Eric
You should come to see our scastles in Wales
We would love to, but I don't think we'll make it this trip. :( Apparently my family's from Wales though, so we'll definitely visit eventually! - Allison
i was there yesterday!
been in there, was only allowed to leave when they let me though....
Re: the putting of people in the back of the car... you're not allowed to to that here. Or, to use your vernacular; it's "super illegal."
yay I live there
murder holes; not boiling water , Boiling oil its a lot hotter .
I think that was the old prisoner's exercise yard that you were in. (the part were you were not supposed to be)
I come fro Lancaster!
I live at Lancaster
did you guys visit a village called warton just outside of lancaster, George Washingtons parents were from there.? its only 10 miles from the castle. good English pub is named after him in the village. ps im frm lancaster and them Raves were Awesome.
Unfortunately we missed Warton and the pub, but we really enjoyed what we saw of Lancaster! Pretty jealous you got to attend the raves 🎉💃🏻
enjoy the rest of your stay. Im sure youve seen our sunsets over Morecombe bay, some of the best you will ever see, anywhere in the World.
I live in lancaster and I've been there
I think it is illegal to ride in the boot of a car over here. Not that you`re likely to be arrested for it. The police would, if they saw this, simply stop you and ask you not to do it again. If they saw you doing it again they`d let you know without further ado that they are the police.
My dads ancesters are from there
@58 seconds...
that yard they found multiple skeleton remains in 2010 or 2011 when I was a prisoner there. the police come and did an investigation on them and they ended up covering them back over and put some porter cabins there that was used for the kitchens...
alot of history to this place... although I am not proud of it I was here on a number of occasions back when I was on the wrong path.... just thought id let you know that you was walking over dead body's and probably never knew about it 👍
Dis u ever get to the liking wall, I live in cumbria and lancaster is only 20 mins away from where I lib5
U need to get to Cartmel fell for the whaling lady
Home sweet home
i used to work here when it was a prison its an interesting place
i libe here i go there all the time fr tho
check torquey where john cleese made fawlty tower
You are wrong with the visitors centre. I had many visits in that visits room when I was serving my 6 year prison sentence.
The visitors were never behind glass. There was table and chairs bolted to the floor with 4 seats per table. A green seat for the prisoner and 3 blue seats for visitors. The serving hatch in the corner was where the visitor can go and purchase snacks and beverages. In the alcove to the right of that was a desk on a stage where prisoners would hand in their ID cards to get a grey armband to make us prisoners more noticable to the staff if we were to stand up. Also There used to be visitor toilets down that way somewhere but I never been to those toilets as I was a prisoner.
I was the second of last prisoner to be released from that prison in 2011.
sat on one of those £100000 chairs
You should go to Windsor Castle, where the Queen sometimes lives, or any of the many ruined castles in Wales or Scotland.
This is where I went to university :-)
Lancaster prison is haunted
Bruh I met that guy I went today with my school the guy who tells the stories
Seriously, you guys should NOT be riding in the boot (trunk) like that - it is VERY illegal!
Yeah, not our best idea 😂
You were lucky you didn't get caught, lol! Still, seriously loving your videos - the north of England is my favourite place in the world (but then I am somewhat biased since my mum came from Yorkshire!) You guys should totally check out Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight next time you come over to our shores - great coastline, lovely countryside, you'll love it!
if you didn't get jumped by some roadmen or end up in lancaster farms did you really go to lancaster?
Jake elderton ikr
This is a great film.. YOu guys are Awesome!
go to brick lane
You should go to Warwick castle it’s gorgeous xx
Might sound hypocritical of me to say this, But riding in the boot of a car is highly illegal and highly dangerous.
It was a prison until 2011, I went with school when it was a prison
Awesome! It was such a cool place to explore. So much has happened there!
I was a inmate there for about 9 months 1989
Still waiting for video camera eye penses to be made public.. ha not for a long time if at all.. amount of sneaking people could do would be unreal but you could record footage where ya not suppose to. mwahahaha

Uhm. Look up what vegan means, maybe? By definition, a vegan wouldn't like goat cheese.
