@@JeremySiskind I was referring to both of you, I am impressed with your lines too, very different styles of playing but both just as engaging! I can really hear the beebop flavour in this Brazilian style - very cool!
Cool! How do those quarter-note triplets actually work against the rhythm? Because the dotted quarter note and the eight note do not really line up with each other. To my ears, it seems you both are playing them simultaneously though:). I guess it gets the job of the exercise done anyway! Really enjoying these interviews as well. Edward Simon is awesome
We might have been sloppy! Nothing should have technically lined up perfectly if we played quarter note triplets. I guess we’ve got to get back into the shed and practice more... which I guess is the whole point anyway! Thanks for the comment, Ernst!
Marvelous lesson! Thank you, Edward.
Wonderful lesson! Thank you
Thank you, Gentlemen 🌹🌹🌹🌹 Oakland was the perfect city in which to record. (Oakland Jazz Exile in Germany).
THANX! Have long been fan of Edward Simon❣...Great content on the channel always!💚
I’m a big fan of Edward’s too! Make sure to check out his solo piano record!
Jeremy the peanut vendor track can also be heard on my latest album “in case you missed it” by Marlon Simon and the nagual spirits.
Awesome! Thanks for chiming in, Marlon! I'll check it out!
You both are great. Thank you.
I’m honored - thank you, Florent!
Awesome! I had an awesome lesson from Ed Simon at gis studio years ago changed my approach forever
He’s so fantastic! So organized, kind, and able to do anything on the piano!
@@JeremySiskind so organized. Before I didn't think one could be that organized about music.
I never thought about clave in 5/4, wow so cool :) thx, great video :)
13:13 sounds like El Manisero - Cuban song :) great video como siempre!
Incredible lesson and incredible coincidence: I was just studying your basic Cuban bass ostinato on page 50 of your Solo Jazz Piano book!!
Perfect! We made the video just for you, of course!
Lots of great exercises for the next book Jeremy.
Haha I can’t fathom a new book right now but maybe some day! Actually, I believe that a similar exercise is in “Playing Solo Jazz Piano” already.
OMG...the triplets are so hard!
You got this, Don!
Thank you so much man for giving us these great lessons . I purchased jazz piano solo book that's great book.
That’s so nice! Thank you, Ali and enjoy!

Great lines!!
I know, right? Everything Ed plays has clarity and purpose!
