Carpenter rage bait is becoming my favorite video genre.

Puerto Rican Obama
Ok-
Haha 😂
This is perfect for people that want a desk with zero structural integrity.
Thats rough as..
I think the point of the video was to give an idea of how to do it. Obviously you can sand it down and plane it if need be
If your going to do a 'how-to' video...at least be good at it!
Yeah that’s really poor work that…
To do this properly he should have uniformly prepared the board in a steambox… a steambox will slowly break the lignin bonds and allow you to shape it much more vigorously and without all that pre cutting… once the lignin hardens in the new shape, you’re basically done except for finishing.
This can be done at home with some prep… for small bends you dont need to steam the whole board, just your section… for small bends i use a wallpaper stripper as the source of steam and pipe it into a box that encloses the section of board to be bent… i have also used tubular plastic bags before todo a full board on a jobsite without a full length steambox.
If you’re making a permanent steambox more steam is better.
I think it looks nice
Fug
Letting it soak in the hot water will have been better then just pouring it on and the supposedly scolding hot water run off.
Letting plywood soak in water like that is bad for the glue adhesion. He should have just dampened the other side
Steam is the proper way to achieve this.
You just wanted to comment lol
@@Krashout00 lol 😂
@@veganpotterthevegan that isn't plywood.
Hey friend, best way to do this is to steam and soak the wood where you want to bend it and bend it slow, usually using a metal outline to hold it in shape and kiln dry it
I’m not even a carpenter and this just hurt to watch
show us how its done
@@MohammedAliPMwhy?
Carpentry and wood working are totally different things.
By ingenious they mean Indigenous sandals
I'm an amateur woodworker and this is the equivalent of a random person laying on top of the fruit in the store, that's the cringe here
Yea I'd rather take the time and properly steam the wood and bend individual pieces to the desired shape, Then proceed with the rest of the assembly and shaping. This looks like something I'd expect to get from Wish.
Where do you think wish get them 🤔
Don’t you just love when people do this type of work in flip flops
I don't think that is the same piece of wood. thickness looks different, and the wood filling you did at the end left a lot to be desired.
The first piece he cut was about 25mm then it somehow gained an extra 10/15 mm after lol
I thought he was cutting it for forms to pour concrete sidewalks on Bends 😆. It was poor cuts
@@antarcticwallscam2507 here we have Mr internet expert. Do you have a magic ruler you used to measure through the video?
@@baitornot4697 no but i can see its different
@@baitornot4697 lol you can see it’s thicker, and also it doubles in width
It looks like you found it outside after sitting in the rain for a month lol
Bro if I ordered a desk and that’s what I got I’da returned it so damn fast
Why though?
@@TemptationsEnd it's not even level are you blind lol
@@thanosianthemadtitanic why though ?
If you ordered a desk it would most likely be machined in a large factory not in a garage work area
@@thanosianthemadtitanic we did t get a full view but if you could sit in front of it I would love it for a drawing table. I prefer to have my work desks for drawing tilted.
What do u do for a living?
Him: I’m a wood bender.
It is a thing. I used to bend metal in a factory.
Lol he only liked this one cuz it was the only positive one
That reply alone might be a wood bender for some

You need thinner cuts and way more of them closer together AAAHH
Also using a thinner kerf blade would have been better.. 1/16” widths on the cuts instead of 1/8”
it worked, so what 😀
@@samthing5961 it did work, just poorly.
@Daddy Chill He's probably already a better woodworker than you wil ever be.
Why not just bend a thinner plank without cutting? I haven't seen anyone do that but that doesn't mean you cant
This is the stuff people lose brain cells from👍🏻
Too fumbs ut👍👍 👍
👍🏽👍🏻
That’s some rough ass work
If you use angled cuts when it's folded round it closes those gaps up much nicer.
Specifically, a pointed router bit instead of a miter/chop saw.
The exact angle bit you need depends on the radius of the curve and how many cuts you'll use.
@@williamdowling7718 yes a tapered router bit is perfect for this.
Boss: hey man get ready to bend some wood
Apprentice: NAH I AINT FALLING FOR THIS ONE AGAIN 😭
The structure and integrity of the wood ☠️
Bollywood craftsmanship 😂
That explains the bridge collapse and so many other things. I see it in IT alot. Just half assed work ethic
@@thegadflygang5381 LMFAO that’s like taking the bottom 10% percent of America and trying to classify the whole country . Ignorant as fuck brody

Did you see those soldiers from Hammerfell? They have curved tables! Curved tables!
So ingenious that my dad used this technique on his rounded countertops in the early 1970s.
And your Dad probably didn’t need to fill it up with super glue
Could have just bought it from lowes like that, that's how most of the boards they sell look anyway
lol,
very under-appreciated comment
А ведь для кого-то это стало открытием!
Век живи век учись.
Perfect to add to the burn pile.
No bueno. Sawdust to fill those big gaps lol
What would u use instead of sawdust ? I am a beginer
@@julien93140 I think there's something called wood biscuits. You put them in, apply a glue or water, and they'll expand to fit the space
@@canned3880 sawdust and superglue is an old trick that works well and looks good.
They didn't even fill the ginormous gaps they cut in it. They just wiped a bit across the top and tried to pretend that's the same table they show at the end
And superglue instead of wood glue wtf
So that's how they make bent wooden desks.
Nope, its not
Don't let the negative comments get to you. Everyone is so used to perfect carpentry/woodworking skills on RUclips that everything less than perfect is considered bad.
It may very well look rough, but you did something and made it work, and that should be applauded. I want to get into stuff like this, and I know for sure that it will look worse than yours, but that is not going to stop me from trying.
Keep up the good work!
I was thinking the same. I mean, it's not perfect. But oh boy, I can not do anything that is near to what he did. Personal opinion, beautiful result
We aren’t used to perfect carpentry, we’re used to competent carpentry. This is hot garbage, as evidenced by the fact that the finished product, which isn’t even level, isn’t the same piece they started with
Agreed, theres limited skill here and its not really teaching you anything other than how to do it incorrectly and, in frikkin flip flops????@@bumbalaaa
They also did that in the 1970s and 1980s! :)
"got it, kids? Tomorrow, were gonna learn fire bending"
When that one guys says “I build furniture”
YOU ARE VERY CREATIVE ❤
How many splinters do you want?
YES
*snap!* there goes the structural integrity
Avatar: The Last Wood Bender!
Maybe a little bit of wood veneer could hide that outside curve
*I too have this type of table in my garden but I haven't thought that this is the secret behind the craftmenship of this table* 🤯
So careful good job
Looks great!
Не ну такие запилы стыдно )а идея и работа супер 🎉😊
Идея прикольная, но результат не очень аккуратен
Толщина пропила никуда не уйдет
Different bit of wood that bit looked split cause think he rushed it or should have made cuts deeper
🤣🤣🤣
You should use a V cut. Then it will form a perfect curvature.
Nice Gloves 🧤
When you order a table from Wish.
Protip: Never bend a wood. Thanks.
Thanks very interesting and inspiring. ❤
Water, earth, fire, W O O D
I love the concept of this. Did not know it was possible

I don’t even know why I’m here but I’m somehow learning a lot about my tables for no reason
good job with the featherboard, looks rlly even
Thanks, im gonna use this the next time i need a 1.5" pine board to bend 90° (never)
This must be similar to how they make those toys and even the wooden live lures :) but maybe a bit different. Thanks for showing me this friend. I have autism this gives me hope maybe I can still make awesome things like this once I get the tools someday
Like seeing this kind of creativity...

That's called kerfing wood..... done it many times for the smooth rounded finish for speaker box ports, followed by tons of sanding lol.!
its good for speaker boxes, but any application where you can see the edge it looks abit wack
Why are there always so many haters? I thought it was pretty freakin cool
It's fake 😂
Soooooo this is why the corner of the table is the first to go out
Thats a cool concept!
Nice its so realistic!🎉

that's smart af!!! 🧠🔥 I was sceptical until I saw water. brilliant invention!
Cool now do earth bending
Now do fire
Now do water
No wait do air

Honestly never occurred to me they bend the wood to make them like that, I thought they just cut it out a very large wood block

There's a few master craftsman here in my country that used hot water to bend wood in order to craft Ships. It was one of the coolest things I've seen
The last wood bender.
Whoa never would I imagine that the technique from those 5 minute crafts can actually be used irl somewhat. I think instant noodles might work too to fill the gaps. Sawdust clogs the hole and prevents the glue from penetrating deep. If you use instant noodles, the glue can penetrate deeper into the gaps
Очень красиво!
See so many comments of people trashing this guys work but not making any factual points about what specifically is wrong with this. Specifically what’s the issue here, I’m not into woodworking.
Structural integrity has left the chat

They make high pressure steam guns. Makes the softening process much easier
make V-shape cuts.. that's way better for bending
