Yes, absolutely. Trying to copy anime straight up doesn’t work because certain things were made specifically with the context of manga and anime in mind, for example the outfits having way less details than a real life outfit would have, so taking that into real life without changes doesn’t work, and there are often exaggerated features and those exaggerations don’t work in a real life adaptation because real life just isn’t as exaggerated. A way to do this well is Edge of tomorrow, they made their own designs and story loosely based on the manga that isn’t trying to be a live adaptation but simply a movie on its own. Alita was good enough I guess but the real life scenes were definitely the weakest again, it’s the entirely CG scenes that were the best which is basically just an anime at that point
