Marwa is a very tough rag to sing. One must have learnt for years to sing it well. It is a very emotional rag. It is one of the thaats of Hindustani classical music.
shrutitai is an exponent of the jaipur atrauli gharana. Marwa is a very tough raag to sing. It is one of the thaats in hindustani classical music. There is no pancham, rishabh is vadi and dhaivath is samvadi. And shadj is just a passing note. raag marwa, raag puriya, and raag sohini all share the same scale all three have no pancham. But in raag marwa, rishabh and dhaivath are vadi and samvadi. In raag puriya, gandhar and nishadh are vadi and samvadi. And in raag sohini, raag sohini stays in the taar saptak.Raag sohini is used in lighter forms if hindustani music. One needs to keep all of this straight and not get confused. Only someone who is very experienced in hindustani vocal, can keep all of this straight. Because both marwa and puriya are tough raags to sing. sohini is a little bit easier than the other two raags.
Quite unfortunate that one can't hear her own genius. Related to guruji, perhaps? Please educate us and do share who this master guruji is, that one can see?
marwa, puriya and sohni have same notes, only vadi and samvadi are different, so that changes the mood for each raga. In one concert Bade Gulam Ali rendered marwa and puriya back to back shocking the audience
I had the pleasure of listening to her in 1968 in Kolhapur. I could see that she is going to be an excellent performer. My prediction has come true
Excellent rendition of Marwa.. Very heart-touching.. Shrutitai is truly an accomplished vocalist..
Is a grate singer and deserves to be treated as one of the best performers

wohi is her Guru
Sharda Rao ,think, her father. Pt Wamanrao Sadolikar.
@@honeybozo Her guru is Gulubhai Jasdanwala, who himself learnt from Ustad Alladiya Khansaheb. Do not underestimate that fact.
