About Sam Ryder
In 2020, as the world went into lockdown, Sam Ryder uploaded the first of his now infamous covers that quickly caught the attention of some famous fans (think Elton John) with compilations appearing on The Ellen Show & BBC's Newsbeat. As the content kept coming, so did the fans, amassing 10 million on socials by the end of the year. Fast forward to 2021 and Sam was crowned as TikTok's most popular UK artist account for the second year in a row.
In 2021, Sam released his 5-song EP 'The Sun's Gonna Rise' including track 'Whirlwind' that describes Sam’s journey - spending much of his adult life writing and performing in bands, living in Hawaii and owning a vegan coffee shop; before he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a solo artist.
Sam's first show in London sold out in under 10 minutes, nearly as quickly as his first full UK tour. Ready to make his first live foray into Europe and beyond, world domination in 2022 might not be a stretch too far for this incredible talent.

Sam certainly IS one of them. One can see why he finished second at the Eurovision Song Contest.

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this… Since this is my favorite Kate Bush song, and Maxwell‘s rendition brought me to tears. But, THIS version, Sam’s version, is a beautiful gift to my ears... and for that I’m thankful.
I’m right there with you hun. It’s so rare that a cover (of a cover) has the same impact as the original. Sam’s version honors both versions and then some. Such a wonderful gift and I’m grateful for it. ❤️

I wasn't sure as well. As brilliant as Sam is, and as much as I love his voice, Kate's music can be so hard to cover. Kate's songwriting and her voice are a league of their own. Thankfully I didn't need to be worried. Sam does this beautifully. Just magic.

@@btown8210 Kate just brings a fragility and vulnerability that I think is essential to this song. To my ears, the R&B inflections you find on many covers don't sound authentic. It's almost like they're trying to seduce the listener and that's not what the song is about.
I am probably one of the last person who will comment anything on internet... But Sam! Truly one of the best artists on this day.

I have watched Sam Ryder for a while since I heard his Set you free cover. He made us very proud at Eurovision and has the most beautiful voice. This cover brought a tear to my eye. He is also such a breath of fresh air, with such a kind soul and has such a refreshing kind and positive attitude in interviews. He was such a gracious runner up in the final and I hope his career sky rockets. Well done Sam... 👏

Sam's talent is insane. I've heard counter tenors in opera but I've never heard them in popular music, I've heard a lot of falsetti but they aren't the same. Sam's tone in the higher registers is warm and beautiful and just it hits me in the feels every time.
