After a month and a half of research, scriptwriting, recording, and editing, I bring you guys the biggest video project I have worked on thus far. A deep dive look into one of Sony's most underrated titles. The PlayStation All-Stars series, and what the sequel's roster could be.
It is a bit debatable on whether this title will get the proper sequel it deserves, but until we do, this video serves as an analytical look into the history of playstation's titles throughout the console generations to see which characters would make for the best inclusions should a new game ever come out.

Wow, Thank you all for the positive feedback! I never thought this video would blowup to the point where it'd get 3,500+ views within a month. Its great to see that I'm not the only one that thinks Sony should take another go at this under-rated gem of a series.
I know I may of went a bit overboard with the roster size in this video. I understand that theres no way in heck the next Playstation Allstars will have anywhere near 105 characters, and probably should of taken out a bunch of the lesser requested characters like Ripto, Spectre, or Avalon Darrow, but the point of this video was to showcase the best variety and combination of characters for the next Playstation All-Stars and what each of the characters could do gameplay-wise. I probably should of been a bit more clearer on that in the video...but too late now. :P
I do plan on making another more-realistic playstation All-Stars video soon so stay tuned for it.
Wild Dog from the Time Crisis series needs to be in the next PS All-Stars.
I love this video but im confused. cloud and crash are 3rd party. Hell even most characters you talked about from the ps1-ps3 era are third party. So why didn't you put them in the 3rd party section?

Sony actually tried to get cloud and crash. They couldn’t get Crash due too Activision asking for too much money and they couldn’t get cloud because square said no. However square offered lightning as dlc but the dlc was canned before they could add her
Crash idk but cloud seems more likely since square and sony r working more closely than ever i mean ff16 is ps exclusive

I want a sequel for this game so badly, there's a power vacuum left by Ultimate releasing it's last DLC months ago.
Sony could make some bank by releasing a sequel that adds more stuff and better and more characters.
And given how much of media nowadays is a Ready Player One circlejerk of "Look how many properties we owned in our streaming service!", It feels like a sequel to PlayStation All Stars could happen
I agree cause if Nickelodeon, Warner Bros., and Lego can release fighting games then Sony should as well.
Not to mention it would be fitting for them to do it now while Sony is focused on releasing more PlayStation exclusive during this new era of consoles, and crushing it!
Imagine if you play as Spartan Kratos and you fight Nordic Kratos and win, but in the cutscene after Atreus is hurt which causes Nordic Kratos to snap. You then play as Nordic Kratos and demolish Spartan Kratos, after their fight Spartan Kratos could have that moment of realisation when he finds out that he’s hurt his family again

I’m going to be honest, The gameplay using Super Meters to kill makes all the regular attacks useless, and wish the gameplay was changed entierly.
It doesn't make the attacks useless necessarily, however it does encourage a lot of the same combos and combat scenarios over and over. I thing it is good for some attacks to be ineffective such as Fox's laser in Smash.
The percentage system of Smash is used so often in other platform fighters because it allows for battles to always tip one way or another.
I wouldn't mind alternate ways to play the game. The main game can be the super meter and some alts can be an hp option and sure, add a damage percent if you want.

I disagree, why would you wanna play as a random character in Resistance? The protagonist is Nathan Hale, he gets infected with the Chimeran virus and becomes a super soldier and was present for most of the games, that's what I find memorable, he should return as a playable character if there was a sequel.

For Fat Princess I feel as though it would be overall better to turn her into a Pokémon trainer esq character due to her being the leader of the villagers that all have individual moves and roles.
Instead of joker they should use Yu from persona 4. And persona 4 golden was pretty much the flagship of the ps vita.

If you had decided to do some research, a lot of the characters you mentioned as "missing" from the original game were all planned but the company couldn't get them due to the licenses for those characters being thrown around too much at that time (Crash and Spyro), the companies were asking for too much money for the characters to be in (Crash and Cloud), or they were asked to not be included due to having a new variation having games come out soon (Lara Croft). I'm sorry if this came off as rude, but there have been many easy to access accounts and explanations by the developers as to why some big names where not included. Same reason for Donte instead of Dante as the parent company of DMC, Capcom, wanted them to use the new one to push the new game despite the developers of PSASBR wanting the original one.
Yeah, i knew about Crash, Spyro, And the other big names not being added and why that was. Including the reasoning for Dante and Raidens appearance at the time. This was just a list/roster meant to show the best variety of characters that could be in the next game and what each spot could do.

Lots of good choices and logic here, but I think including some of the secondary characters and villains you mentioned would be superfluous. If we were talking about Smash Bros., I would say they should be assist trophies or costumes instead.
Actually I like having lots of villains. That's something I want more of in Smash.

You know they couldnt make that many characters. Like even smash (which has a lot of a bigger budget than ps all star ever will) reuses things from every prior games and you are like let's add 50 characters.
Of couse not all of them will be on there but these r just possibilities.

Big Daddy may not be a good inclusion. But I think Booker DeWitt could be great in combat. He has an assortment of vigors, guns and his skyhook. Plus his ultimate could be Elizabeth summoning a Handyman or Songbird.
While I loved playing Big Daddy, he really didn’t make any sense for being included in the game. BioShock doesn’t play a big part of PlayStation history, hell BioShock actually appeared on PlayStation last

Edit: In fact, I would probably have them (and mabye Evil Cole, though this vid dose provide some good points to have both versions) as the only 2 fighters from the first game to not be brought back.

She could do some of her actions like rolling, bouncing, and could do a mean trick with her weird stretchy legs. And use the obstacles from her game for set ups and attacks, and possibly merge them together for different effects, her level 3 HAS to be her Queen Vibri form, flying around the stage different moves stuff like that. And maybe she could have some other stuff from her sequel "Vib-ripple".

I would also include Wolverine to go alongside Spider-Man as the two sole 4th party characters (since both characters are getting new games developed by Insomniac Games). I mean, come on. Wolverine vs. Kratos; who the hell wouldn't want that dream match to happen?

I had to watch the whole thing. Me and my cousin love having the conversation of “what if” when it comes to PlayStation allstars. It was one of it not my favorite game as a kid. But we can only hope.
I've seen a lot of people wanting Vibri to come into Psasbr and this kinda stuff makes me feel that Vibri will soon become popular, also I want her in, add Vibri for the sequel

I find it strange that no one puts MegaMan Volnutt in their Character Rosters for the Playstation AllStars 2, since MegaMan Legends was released for PLAYSTATION 1 (and also on nintendo 64).
He could be a slightly heavy character, but not that fast. His Super attacks could be Loaded shots, the ship he uses in the game, and other things.
A character from Shin Megami Tensei would also be hella cool.
Raidou, Demifiend, Serph, and even Flynn would fit very well.
And
Flynn never appears in Playstation Console (he game is exclusive for 3DS)
But Serph and Raidou are good Chosse

Unrelated but my idea for the intro of the second game is having the intro happen inside the PS2 start up. What i mean is having the roster above the pilars that represent the data and they move to attack each other. It might start up by showing the regular PS2 start up sequence and as soon as it comes close, it shows a panoram of the characters, after that, the battle starts.
After all, my idea came because, well, second game... PlayStation 2... almost like a no brainer.

Rico Velasquez from Killzone should also be included. Dude is a major badass who has a penchant for close quarters combat and is definitely the most iconic good guy from the series.
If you ask me what I would want for the original roster here's how it goes
-replace ghost of Sparta Kratos with the Nordic Kratos and make GOS ver an alt
-Cole McGrath and evil Cole McGrath would be a single character with a karma gimmick, and make evil Cole McGrath an alt
-replace 2013 Dante with the old dante
-aside from the characters I mentioned everybody else will come back, yes even fat princess and big daddy but they all would not be DLCs (some newcomers will get that treatment)

Still, is a good list, even if I'm not totally agreed on every one, I will also incluse Lazarus Jones from _Ghosthunter_ and Jaster Rogue from _Rogue Galaxy_ both from the PS2, I think they are good characters.
Yeah, it felt he like he looked up "Playstation Exclusives" on Wikipedia and made movesets for them, and ended up adding some of the "All-Stars" but it was a just a consequence of adding everyone.

Overlord is multi-platform, as a character the Overload isn't exclusive to any console given he's on PC, on Nintendo consoles, on PS3 and 360 so technically unless they wanted him in the game, idk.
One possible psvita idea, they could have Jacket from Hotline Miami, because he was on psvita at one point and had some exclusive features. I could imagine him using masks similarly to Shulk in Smash Bros and his manado arts
Another vita idea for you or a few, Lil and Laarg from Escape Plan, a character from Hyperdimension Neptunia as there were games from that franchise on Vita, the main character whose name I forgot from Freedom Wars, if we're talking joke characters then the Deviants from Little Deviants, I want to see them match up against Nathan Freaking Drake or Kratos.
Maybe the main character from Killzone Mercenary as he could work as a fighter theoretically, also maybe a character from Soul Sacrifice and one from Oreshika:Tainted Bloodlines, there are many others but I'm not in the mood to go through them all.
Personally, I think splitting Kratos into two characters is, well, dumb as shit. There’s a reason Smash Bros never split Mario between his old and new versions, because that would leave both a half-baked fighter.
So, if you want 4 God of War characters, Kratos, Atreus can be his own character, Zeus, and either Thor or Baldur
I think for this franchise to come back (which I would like) with a satisfying roster it would be licensing hell. Since then Smash Bros. has simply become too big, snatching even more Playstation icons like Cloud, Joker, and now even freaking Sephiroth. I bet Crash is next. I believe once a character appears in these types of games there is probably some clause in the contract that prevents them to appear in other games that might appear as obvious competition. It's probably the reason why Smash still hasn't got a playable Heihachi which sounds like a no brainer even though the game is actually developed by Namco itself. Maybe in a couple of years.
That means that Cloud will never happen, he's too big of a character for Nintendo to share it with another game. Also, since Smash now has become really interesting to many developers to promote their games (look how easy was to get Terry for example, or even Steve from Minecraft which is honestly the biggest behemoth on the roster so far), they would vastly prefer to appear in Smash, a high-selling, long-lasting franchise, rather than gamble their way into the sequel of a game which didn't exactly explode 8 years ago.
Imagine Activision being approached by both Nintendo and Sony for having Crash in either Smash or Playstation All-Stars 2 (I assume both is simply impossible for legal reasons): who do you think would they prefer? The highest selling fighting game ever, or a bet on its direct competition?
Sony should really try their best and create a great, funny game first. Also, with character, since the first one was lifeless as fuck. Grow it, and maybe in two/three installments they can start actually rivalring Smash.
The third-party devs could always play both sides of the war ala Palpatine
There's literally no clause like that, Mega Man has appeared in both mvc and smash

Ty for finding something for resistance! It’s one of my favourite video game series of all time but I had no idea what sony could do for a character! Hale’s fine and Capelli is a compelling character but their move sets would be too generic. I always thought Daedalus would be TOO much of a freak character but I love the idea of him acting like the Pokemon trainer

Sakurai did said sometime after the Terry Smash showcase that he couldn’t put Mai in Smash in spite of him and SNK wanting her to be in the game due to needing to comply to the E10 rating (and similar ratings in other parts of world) of Ultimate.
I have another WTF request: Joe Mauer from MLB The Show.. Which was a PlayStation exclusive for years, and hey, Smash style fighters ALWAYS have a WTF fighter..

I was angry that you didnt include Lara Croft, deep down I knew she would be at the very end. Good list.
Edit: I have added Pepsiman and percentages for how likely they are to be included. (Also Doomguy is now a 0% as Microsoft have purchased Bethesda who own doom.
2nd Edit: I also added Alex Mercer from the Prototype series, as while his series is underrated, he did get a comic book series and is pitted against Cole MacGrath in the Death Battle community 90% of the time. I also added Rajang from Monster Hunter, since the series used to be a ps2 exclusive and has been featured in the recent Astrobot.
3rd Edit: Changed the percentages of some characters due to Microsoft not being as strict with the rights to sharing them.

I personally would have either keep both of them or removed both of them.

Personally speaking as a Nintendo fan, PlayStation All-stars is the game that made me interested in trying out more sony games, and even non-nintendo consoles as a whole
Even though I still haven't been able to play much Sony beyond Psasbr itself, Bioshock on Switch, and a small few actual classic Sony related games that happened to go multiplatform on switch too such as CTR and Katamari, mostly due to budget restraints and the difficulty of emulating Sony games, I am way more than excited for the concept of a sequel to PlayStation All-stars than almost any other game I can think of
I like the exhaustive list. I'd add Jehuty from Zone of the Enders, the Journeyer from Journey, Alucard from Symphony of the Night, the Demi-Fiend from Shin Megami Tensei 3, Jeanne D'arc and Ava from Kinetica. A Kinetica rep would be really interesting because the characters raced with their bodies.

I'm pretty sure that it's just cuz Spider-Man ps4 was such a big hit and one of the most populair ps4 games. It stands toe to toe with stuff like God of war ps4 and horizon zero dawn. When people think of this generation of PlayStation they're also gonna be thinking off Spider-Man.

I would love to see lenneth and a few others from Valkyrie Profile and Mint and Rue from Threads of Fate. Mint and Rue each have cool weapons. Mint casts spells and Rue transforms into different wild beasts that he kills.
I know it would be hard to make it work, but I do think having a Mech / AC from Armored Core would be a good addition to a future roster, as the series was mostly on the playstation for the longest time
Downsize the mech and make it like normal sized so it works as a fighter.

I think that a PlayStation All-Stars sequel can work in two ways: either make it an arena brawler akin to Capcom's Power Stone with traditional fighting game elements or make it a Marvel vs. Capcom style game.
As for the roster, I think your roster is what I'd like to see, but with a few more additions: Klonoa, Kain (to go alongside Raziel), Shadow the Hedgehog (since Sonic is in Smash), Megaman Volnutt and Tron Bonne from Megaman Legends, Zero from Megaman X, Maximo from Capcom's Maximo dualogy, Morrigan, Jon Talbain, Demitri Maximoff, and Felicia from Darkstalkers, Alundra from the original Alundra, War, Fury, Strife, and Death from the Darksiders series, and finally Toan from Dark Cloud
Former wise I'd want it to feel more like JJBA Eyes of Heaven where like tag teams battle one another in large arenas themed after various games rep wise with hazards in there representing the game.

Scorpion would definitely have his finishers as Supers, but it's not like anyone's asking for blood and gore in this game, there are plenty of Fatalities that can translate into Supers.
His Toasty fatality would make a good level 1, his level 2 can be the hand from hell pulling an opponent into the ground before they're spat back out and launched away or KO'd whatever this game decides to do for KO's, and his level 3 can be an original cinematic Super of some kind.

I certainly agree, not just for Persona 5 Joker but also for most of the roster with characters that are now in 2021 are in Smash Ultimate, like we already got Ryu and Cloud, same with Sephiroth and much more recent Kazuya into Smash, but I like the idea of instead of recycling characters that are already guests in games like smash; we use characters from the same franchise but not the same game (Or vice versa if you don't agree with me or my opinion.)

Honestly, I still think the game would be more well received if it was a 3-D platform fighter. It is too comparable to SSMB as a 2-D platform fighter and the Playstation has *way* more characters from 3-D games with platform challenges.
Spyro, Crash, Nathan Drake, Kratos, Ratchet&Clank, Jack&Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Kat if you stretch the definition a bit. And not to mention most of the other games mentioned are 3D. Nintendo cannot compare in this field.

You're not going to have a hundred character roster like smash, you'd need to narrow this down to like 30 max and then add a few extra for dlc
Sony has way more 1st party characters than Nintendo does though so they need a much bigger roster at least 50 and still in that many would still be left out

I have a few more 3rd party suggestions. You left out one of the biggest fighting series Soul Calibur. Nightmare would be amazing. I'd also like Amaterasu, Jack Cayman, and Travis Touchdown. A Borderlands vault hunter would also be super cool.

Cloud in smash bros and not in all stars shows that square’s allegiance was always to Nintendo. If Nintendo wasn’t so stubborn in the 90s with cartridges, ff7 would had been a Nintendo exclusive.

With the PS5 around the corner, I think a PSASBR sequel would be a great early title to celebrate how far PlayStation has come over years. But the gameplay needs polish and it desperately needs an improved roster over the first game. I propose that the new roster include every fighter from the first game plus the following:
- Crash Bandicoot
- Spyro
- Lara Croft
- Knack
- (Classic) Dante from Devil May Cry
- Dart from Legend of Dragoon
- a Final Fantasy rep besides Cloud (because he's already in Smash), like Sephiroth, Squall, or Tidus
- a Wild Arms rep
- a Resistance rep
- a Persona rep besides Joker (because he's already in Smash)
- a Resident Evil rep, like Chris Redfield or Leon Kennedy
- a RockStar rep, like John Marston or Niko Bellic
- Rayman
- New Kratos (in addition to old Kratos)
- Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn
- Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima

They wanted to but they weren’t able to. What you and other people don’t understand about licensed games is that it as easy as wanting to include characters there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get characters.
I really enjoyed this list and agree with most of the roster. However, I would also love to see some representation from the Monster Hunter series, since it got its start on the PlayStation consoles and even its portable systems. People have already been clamoring for a Monster Hunter in Smash, so why not put them here? In terms of their move set, they could employ the various weapons from the series like the Great Sword, Sword and Shield, and Hunting Horn for directional attacks and (for the Hunting Horn) buff themselves with extra attack or defense. On top of that, it could be possible to implement many of the monsters from the series given how popular they are. Maybe they could be similar to Rathalos in Smash and be tied to an assist that anyone could use? Or the Hunter’s ultimate attack could see them throwing a character into an arena and just watch them be torn apart by monsters such as Rathalos, Zinogre, or even Elder Dragons like Nergigante and Teostra? Just as a huge fan of the series, I would love to see this in a PSASBR 2.

We could have someone from the P4 cast, iota/atoi, the sorcerer from Soul Sacrifice, the guy from Silent Hill
For new maps and environments, you could have the black and white environment from Escape Plan and as the match progresses, the color comes in and transitions into the Tearaway world.
Also, the TV channel from P4 could be another map.

I think that, if Jetstream Sam from MGR Revengeance came to a sequel to All-Stars, he'd probably be a pretty good rival for Vergil
