    I was pulling some dead leaves off of my Dracula lotax and a good leaf came off with a little root on it so I put it in some sphagnum moss about a month ago and I have a new growth from it so I'm so excited to know that I'll be having 2 lotax orchids ;)

    These are so cool, I've always wanted to see what their roots looked like. I wish I could grow them but I don't think they would like the Texas heat.

    Thanks for all that . Have at last found a good place for my dracs , eventually . At the moment have a leaf coming out the base ?Vampira. I had hoped to be at WOC and get more info :-) And I got to see re-potting here . And I see others have 'root bound ' fun . Would also be nice to know about the age of your plants . the ones I bought are smaller than your divisions .May I ask your reason for splitting ? Not just cleaning and potting on ? I just have so many questions about orchids , and WOC could have let me see them in situ . One day . Thanks for the video .

    Hi Brad! Thanks for your helpful videos. I just bought my first dracula and it's potted in a regular plastic pot. I did find a small spike at the top of the pot, about two inches long. Should I wait or get it in to a net pot right away? Thanks!

    Hi Brad, thanks for this video...my Dracula orchid is still slightly wobbly in the pot, should I put in some more spagnum moss? I got mine from Marsh Hollow Orchids too at the Orchid Show in Sept. Its my first dracula, and I was awestruck by the flowers....What's the fertillizer you use for dracula's? Also, just wondering what are in those little pots with plastic bags(?) at the far end (2:27) Keep up your great work with these videos!

    • @BradsGreenhouse
      @BradsGreenhouse  10 лет назад

      Ahh yes Mario at Marsh hollow is where most of mine came from as well. If it is really wobbly, I would stake it, like I did at the end of the " how to remove and repot a Keiki " video I made last week. I fertilize with what ever is open, a 10-10-10 would be fine. I give them most than you would think, the water looks almost blueish. The plants in the bags are new Nenenthes, I'll probably show them in this weeks video.

    • @BradsGreenhouse

      I'm in Zone 8b, the extreme is about -6C, it is above freezing almost always, even in winter nights but I still have to heat the greenhouse

    Hello.. I have a question for you... I grow a lot of masdevallia and do well with them... I purchased a few Draculas and figured I would give it a go. Vampira, robledorum, carlueri and chestertonii. I grow under t5 lighting. Max temp 74 min temp 58. Humidity 85%. Very good air movement. Grow in net pots with sphagnum and perlite. I have lots of new growth and spikes starting but for some reason after the spikes get about 2in they die off. It is driving crazy lol. I don't know a lot of people who grow Draculas and though maybe you could help me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated =) thank you

      It could also be the light. Unless you are in a basement Dracula vampira likes very low light. And they like it quite cool. I think it’s to hot and bright for that type of Dracula. A better one for that temperature would be Lotax or ineaqualis.

  • @fificorina

    So many divisions, you don't usually do that with other orchids, if you have a spare one I would love to buy it, I am in Canada and i will pay in advance for the plant and shipping.

    where did you get your dracula orchid from? I brought the seeds but they were a flop...

    • @Scrunchy05
      @Scrunchy05 8 лет назад

      All orchid seeds from amazon and such are fake. Look up orchid flasking.

  • @zacharykenniston748
    @zacharykenniston748 6 лет назад

    Did they survive the division? It’s got to be EXTREMELY traumatic for them. I believe plants feel pain (there is a lot of new proof of this) so I personally would not divide them unless absolutely necessary.

    I took a chance and bought some Peruvian orchid seeds. I sawed the seeds and they are growing. But the leaves do not look like the Dracula orchids seeds. I am skeptical that they are orchids. Have you heard of this Monkey face type orchids. Do they grow from seeds.

    • @BradsGreenhouse
      @BradsGreenhouse  10 лет назад

      Lynette Goden I don't think they are orchid seeds, orchids can't just grow on soil or moss. Goggle "Orchid flasking" it will give you a better idea
