The camera work with the zoom in after they called Melissa tops it. Very beauty pageant ! Ahha

What is so wonderful about this is, everyone knows the usual routine is you stay in your seats & hide your disappointment with a grin. This way, they were all recognised & loved by their fellow actors, the crowd 'got it' and supported it whole heartedly, & when Melissa's name was called, the other ladies smiles were authentic, they were all in on it & no one was left in the audience, with a camera in their embarrassed face

I love this, I watched it when it originally aired and I keep coming back to it. All categories should be like this, without the crown and flowers...that can get awkward 😂.

Geez, can't believe this was more than ten years ago.. Melissa, surprised as she was, really deserved the award that year... 🥰

Honestly to be able to go onstage and support my fellow nominees would be such a win for me, whether the Emmy was mine or not! Such a great and powerful moment. :)

Great Awards Show moment. And - Not that it means anything in the long run... but I have to say: Martha Plimpton - who dresses way way down for just about every role she gets, including the one for which she was nominated - looks freekin amazing here! Props to her and her stylist. And to Laura Linney, for the lipstick take. Epic stuff.

Even the director and the camera crew got in on the gag; that crash zoom on Melissa McCarthy when her name was announced? Classic pageant camerawork.
