Shoulders

The words in this piece written by my brother @vincenterrelldurham are just pure truth! He stands on the shoulders of Ed Bullins, James Weldon Johnson, Paul Carter Harrison, Ted Shine and Ralph Ellison to name a few. The actors in this piece I admire and I respect. But we do. We stand on the shoulders on the giants mentioned and beyond. My fellow Black Theatre Sister and Brother, @margogot and @aldobillingslea are spearheading this very much needed #GoFundMe campaign: The GoFundMe Campaign, Fund Black Theater in the US, is an opportunity for all of us to dedicate a portion of our resources to Black theaters so they can survive COVID-19 and beyond. Our goal is to raise $1 million. Achieving this goal will prove that we can collectively assist in funding the cultural spaces and organizations that serve our communities, honor our stories, and know the importance of our voices and our dollars. If you believe Black Lives Matter, then you believe Black Theater Matters. It is time for all hands on deck. Take a moment and give what you can. Let’s own our present and our future.
