I recently placed one of these Takmork acrylic platter mats to my LP60X. I think the blue version of acrylic is really the only colour that best suits the all black version of the LP60X. Much better all round than the standard felt it comes with, performance wise also.
My (White) Rega RP1 with glass platter looks fantastic with the green! I also have a blue, but it's not quite as... colorful.
I always wondered about the acrylic platter mats, that if they would work on my turntable. I have an AT- LP120. (Post. 2017). I may have to try one of those mats out. Thanks for sharing this.
Definitely do it. The LP120 is a great turntable. I have the LP60X and recently replaced the felt mat with a blue acrylic from Takmork, same company we see here. It looks beautiful, plus I did also replace the conical stylus with an elliptical. So I've just about given the 60X all the modifications I can, and there is definitely an enhancement in performance. Absolutely no doubt the 120 will benefit also.
I don’t know anything about this brand, but definitely recommend inner/outer sleeves.
I have a solid black acrylic mat to match my RT80. Love it!
Oh, the RT80 from Fluance. Beautiful turntable.
I just purchased inserts for records & outside album covers too. The color albums look awesome to me, something I need to check out. I really like the concept of color albums.
Hope you have an Amazing remainder of your day.. I learn so much from you awesome friend.
You could put a picture or logo underneath the clear one.
Those platter mats are very cool 😎. I did like the white on white Pioneer turntable combo. Also, I’m one of those collectors who stores the vinyl with the inner sleeve inside the album cover and the outer sleeve.
Yep, definitely need to sleeve those records inside and out. I have a blue acrylic platter mat from a different company, but it just doesn't have that neat florescent glow.
You had a light on the turntable ( the pop up light for the needle placement) but didn't turn it on to show the platter glow under a record. Hudson hi-fi has these type of platters too. Good info on this video. 👍
Record ology your utube videos are awesome my friend
Today I got the green acrylic matte for my record player but I have to return it. I have one of those fuse vertical record players and after you put the record on you put a hub on there to make sure the record stays in place and sadly the acrylic matte is so thick that once I put the record on there is no more room left for the Hub to stay on and it falls off so unfortunately it will be going back to Amazon tomorrow
Those inner sleeves u bought are based on the mobile mobile, Fidelity master sleeves. Which have been around since the 80s . Put the record behind the jacket in an outer sleeve because it will prevent ring wear on the cover
I understand the ring wear thing, but you can also avoid that by not packing them too tight. I feel like that cardboard jacket's number one job is protecting that record and it does a much better job with the record inside the jacket.
I'm not sure about the "tighter bass response" for this snake oil acrylic slipmat xD but ok, they look pretty darn beautiful. Always loved the way colored Acrylic had such nice Neon effects. This orange one in particular is sweeeeet!
Blue acrylic is beautiful on a turntable. I have the LP60X and use a blue acrylic mat from the same company we see here. Yes, I think there is some truth to the claims that different mats produce different audio results. Acrylic is a higher end playing surface than the common felt a lot of turntables come with.
Record ology your Gleen miller Record is awesome my friend 🎶 👏 😀 😎 🙌
Longtime viewer, entertaining stuff, sir. I've been listening and collecting since the early-70's. On my vintage Denon DP-62L, I use a black acrylic mat from Hudson and I also currently use their Mo-Fi knock-offs for inner and outer sleeves. For good measure, I also have a handful of the fancy Vinyl Storage Solutions, bigger outers (i.e. triple/quadruple LPs) and gate-fold sleeves. Been using inners sleeves since an early-80's open window during a rain storm incident with my Jazz records in the lowest record crate, those were Radio Shack/Realistic inner sleeves, btw.
But I do have a serious collection maintenance question. I have purchased a few albums in the last few years that have card stock inners not paper inner sleeves. These are very hard to get the records out of safely. What with all of the shaking and squeezing of the hard sleeve, I worry about causing even more scuffs and scrapes. Is there a way of extracting the records, short of taking a X-Acto knife or razor blade to the hard sleeve? In all of my years of watching RUclips videos on record collecting and using sleeves, I have never seen or heard of a solution for this problem.
Thank you, sir and have a great day! 😎
I had a similar issue with a few Music On Vinyl box sets, and was noticing hairlines on a couple of records.
What I do now is use the inner sleeves like the one in this video, but keep them inside the original card inners, essentially creating a lined sleeve, and then put it back inside the outer jacket and then outer sleeve. So it goes Outer Sleeve>Jacket>Original Inner Sleeve>Lined Inner Sleeve>Record
Most inner sleeves I've used are designed to fit perfectly inside existing inners. The material makes it much easier to slide the record out, and if necessary to partially slide the lining out of the cardboard to extract the record. Means I still get to enjoy my nice printed inners, but with the additional protection and ease of access as a nicely lined sleeve 😊
If I had to choose one of the platter mats it would probably be the orange one. I don’t know that I would like seeing the cutouts on the platter.
Will it work on a old record player from the 70s
You should have demo'd these platters with a clear record instead of a black one.
That would have been a good idea!
I’ll be honest, I have that green platter mat, and it’s honestly a little too much, makes all my clear and translucent pressings look bad.
Fk yeah 🙌
in reality the paper sleeve is only scuffing the surface of record the music is not affected but the scuffs do look ugly plus they act as a antistactic protector also
Record ology I learn lot from you about bying quality turntables and Record players new and used Record players my friend
That’s pretty bad ring wear ! At first, I thought it was part of the album artwork design.
