I've never been to a meeting so I searched on here and found this one I can't believe how alike all addicts are! I can't say how many times I laughed n nodded my head me too omg!!! Lol this was amazing! I quit the hard drugs (1 year 9 months ago) but I realized when I wanted to quit drinking to lose weight that I can't even go one day without drinking and idk how I'll ever stop or cut down but for the first time I want to live my life not just exist anymore. Thank you for this!

Step work is the solution. It's the best guarantee against relapse. It says in the basic txt...we have NEVER seen an addict relapse who LIVES the na program. We live what we believe not what we know. The steps give us a new way to believe. I encourage you to give yourself a break and work the steps to get freedom from yourself. ☮️

I had gotten clean for a few years back and, I caught a few na meetings in the beginning of my recovery journey, but mostly I worked another program. Even though inside me on a cellular level, I knew I was an addict, I identified as an Alcoholic. Now several years on down the road, some behaviors that I knew were addictive behavior presented themselves in my life. I decided to go back to a NA meeting. I shit you not, one of the shares I heard was my current situation to the letter all except for the relapse. About how they had misidentified for several years, built a life clean, got a family, job, housing, and trust, but ultimately they weren't in the right program and they went back out. I haven't went back out but the story I heard was familiar enough that I decided to switch to the program I belong in, Narcotics Anonymous. I'm in the literature now, hoping to start the steps and find out who I really am. I have hope again. God bless this program and the addicts who still suffer.

One of the main reasons I got off of social media was because there was this religious group talking smack about 12 step recovery people. I personally have not been to the meeting in 13 years. Yeah. It was the greatest part of my life from 1986 until 13 years ago. I've been thinking about going back just for the camaraderie and to be somewhere where I actually fit in. But word to the wise never talk smack about 12 step recovery to me. Those people laid down their lives for me in a way the church will never do. it really breaks my heart when churches talked crap about recovery places because they have no idea the depths of the pain is those that finally show up in those rooms. All the things we had to endure from religious people. Turns Out I have the same God that drove me to using drugs. But just a different conception of who he is. But this recovery business it's not about salvation or eternity in heaven it's about saving your damn life and making it about face and beginning to live life to its fullest and no longer being scared of God and healing from all the wounds that religious people brought upon those that finally found recovery. I don't know any of y'all at this meeting or those that may be reading this comment. Yeah. I love you very much and I hope that you don't let the religious man keep you from recovery. And this own conception of God thing everybody has it even the religious people. So my prayer for all of you is that you find God now. those that maintain recovery and are happy joyous and free. It is because they turn their will and their life over to the care of God as they understood him. The smallest amount of faith it gets the ball rolling and then your conception of God will change as the days pass. God is not concerned about your interpretation of him he is only concerned about setting your feet on higher ground so that you can recover from a hopeless disease. Anyways I'm rambling at this point I just hope that if anybody is being affected by a religious person and some religious person is trying to make you feel bad for seeking recovery. Just tune them out because after all it's your ass you're trying to save.

Its VERY POSSIBLE that you get the same thing out of a meeting that you get from what it is you're doing now BUT the socialism and simply just sitting in that room with other addicts is a whole new level of help that YOU ALSO DESERVE!!!! TRY IT JUST OCE then let me know how much more positive and encouraged you feel from there on out ;) NOT every meeting is a homerun either.... some will be better than others but they're all meant to achieve the same goal and that is to STAY SOBER just for today!!!!! MUCH LOVE FOR YA!!!!

    • @jennifers4528
      @jennifers4528 3 года назад

      @@adamsmith9931 Hi. I'm an addict.
I'm not being critical but perhaps, Kimberly isn't comfortable at meetings.
First let me say that I'm 8 years clean. If it wasn't for my sister and my best friend, I couldn't of done this and have gotten this far.
I've went to many, many NA meetings and each time ive left there, I've found the whole experience a huge trigger for me. Although I completely understand the whole concept of those meetings, I've never pushed another person to attend them. Each individuals road to recovery is unique and just because an NA meeting worked for you, doesn't mean NA is the answer for the next person.
However, I do agree that having someone to be raw with is crucial in recovery. Everyone needs a trusted shoulder during "down" times.
I ask you to keep this in mind next time you hand out advice. I'd hate to think that someone relapsed because they took someone's advice about NA meetings. I know I'm not alone about them not being what's best.
God bless you and your recovery. 💜

Hi this is Kimberly Matthew a lot of people don't like that I say that I rather sit back and listen to y'all at least conventions talk to me so I can hear about your stories want me to keep going to meetings and all that but this is how I like to do it because I'm going through my own problems I'm trying to get back into reality I'm trying to get back to dealing with people and stuff like that let me do this at my Pace I love to hear about cha when y'all talk about your stories cuz it's helping me get through my and my stuff I'd like to listen to the conventions I like to hear everybody around the world come up my serenity prayer I do everyday God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change the courage to change the things I can and the will to do it all and I will one day at a time I'm having bad anxiety attacks and I'm just going to let God have it all so thank you so much for your response to my things that I say

dude i absolutely love the recovery community in southern utah :-) it’s absolutely amazing, but wtf where is this meeting at? lol , is it boston? i have never been to a meeting outside of southern utah :-) i would say we average like 25-45 people in our smaller meetings and in our bigger they’ll get as much as 120, but that’s the most :o but the crowd on this video and in a lot of videos on here, when they laugh it sounds like a george carlin show lol xD how many people are in those meetings? :o it must be amazing :-)

Eckhart Tolle helps me on youtube. All the loud addicts with their chatter are but little help. I agree with you that TRYING to enjoy life is a trap. The enjoyment bubbles up and bursts away. Apparently, God is nothing to do with whatever anyone has ever said. One day I realized that there were 2 things: 1. the pain in my back and 2. The talk in my mind condemning it. Only one was actually there.

Hi, Kimberly my name is Ivis & I'm an ADDICT
I'm about 2 turn 50 yrs old I'm excited & scared @ the same time bc my mom & grandmother passed @ 50. Anyway I hv 2 handsome adult sons & 2 Beautiful grandkids. I've been off of methadone for 9 yrs. I never thought it would ever be possible to do without illicit drugs & methadone. I'm living proof, "That no ADDICT seeking RECOVERY need ever die bc my GRATITUDE speaks when I care & when I share with others the NA way."
B4 getting a sponsor, b4 going 2 meetings, b4 getting a hm gr, b4 getting a network & b4 doing step work even b4 doing service. I prayed God don't let me die on the program. Well God answered my plea, God came to my rescue. My Higher Power sent ppl like me 2 me.
      I AM U & U ARE ME!
If u ever need 2 tlk let me kno
