- As a follow up to my video about the different Lucy Robinsons, this is about the character popular 1990s character Brad Willis - who was also played by three different actors - Benjamin G. Mitchell (1989), Scott Michaelson (1991-1993) and Kip Gamblin (2013-2017).

I remember having quite the crush on Scott Michaelson #BackInTheDay when I was a tad younger ! ;)
There was certainly a casting strategy back then! 🤣
Had no recollection of another actor portraying Brad Willis before Scott Michaelson, or that Benjamin Mitchell had played another character. I remember the latter as Cameron in the show.
Ben Mitchell was only really in one episode as Brad and in the background of another so it's not surprising.
I'd love to know why they re-used the character. Perhaps Ben was going to come back originally, before they decided to cast Scott Michaelson?
He also played Margot robbie’s dad on the show who was a policeman!!
@@CradlebyMedia I think in 1989 they were toying with the idea of a new family coming in the next year due to problems with Paul Keane (Des would be gone for weeks on end) and to cover a raft of rlexits. They sent in Cody in a semi-regular role after Brad's two guest bits as Sharon's date.l, then followed Doug, Pam and Adam.
@@Hulk2k6 Ah I see, that does explain the staggered entrance of the family! Watching and reading back the info while researching for the video, it did strike me as odd.
@@CradlebyMedia What's good is they were pretty much Erinsborough natives already (lived a bus ride across town when as shown Todd was lured into Cody's Hawaiian party where she tried to put the moves on him) and would be the first ENTIRELY new family not connected to anyone to descend on the street.
As you can probably tell, I've attempted to add a bit more story information to this video. However, in order to keep it focused on the Brad I've not mentioned some characters that played an important part. Most notably Cameron Hudson, the character played by Benjamin G. Mitchell!
Benjamin Mitchell also played Matt Freedman who was Donna Freedmans Dad aswell.
This was another edit to the video's script 😊 It might be a separate video one day.
Christ, I remember as a schoolboy having THE BIGGEST crush on Brad. He was so fucking HUNKY. And there was an equally good-looking couple (who actually looked just like Brad & Lucy) living up the road from me. I used to refer to them as Brad & Lucy.
Weird eh.
oh my , therese so slim lol
Ben Mitchell has had a good run. Never understood Brad's obsession with Lauren (either one). Interesting that the 2013 Willis and Turner incarnations didn't last. Not great characters except Terese, who is the last man standing...I guess Ned too.
The research for this one made me a bit mad at the way Beth was treated by Brad 😅
Brad #3, despite being the longest serving of the 3 incarnations, is also considered to be the most boring of the 3. I don't know that much about Brad #2 to decide whether he was really boring, but I also heard that Kip Gamblin's Brad (#3) was a stark contrast to Scott Michaelson's Brad (#2).
I despised Lauren Carpenter so much in the 90s...and now I feel so cheated to find out that he ultimately ended up with her. I'm so furious!
@@AlisonBryen Lauren and Brad deserved each other - Beth was much too good for Brad!
@@bevanborges4047 Brad grew up in his time away
Brad and Lauren get together, have a child neither knew about, change personalities (both of them) and faces then find each other, find they have a daughter and get married FINALLY. After his divorce of course.
Did I miss anything?
That about covered it I think! 🤣
Scott Michaelson played the role of Brad Willis for too long. He was involved in too many defining storylines. Scott's face became as linked to Brad Willis as Ian Smith's was to Harold Bishop. I always thought it was therefore a bad decision to recast him in 2013, especially as Kip Gamblin looked nothing like Scott Michaelson. I think long term viewers felt alienated by it.
There doesn't seem to be much reason for the re-cast of both characters either. I guess by that point they just assumed viewers were so used to re-casts it didn't really matter!
Gip Gamblin best looking Brad..
Why don't you like Melenie's return? She's been my favourite legacy character returnee..l have been thoroughly entertained by her for the whole time she's been back. I wish l could say the same about the others..Amy has been a big let down to me after involving her in the horrible threesome storyline.
I just feel like they reset the character for laughs and there wasn't a compelling reason to have her come back.
I agree about Amy and that ridiculous threesome story - I'm so glad that's over!
