I make some homemade fire starters
    using
    turps
    peanut oil
    citronella oil
    linseed oil
    Xanthorrhoea.. grass tree resin
And the winner is ...... Turps soaked pine and citronella a good multipurpose option ?
this is real easy and I guess cos it's the closest thing to real fatwood!
So in wet conditions where you cannot easily find dry tinder, these wax stix will work.
As I say, coating even a non-soaked stick with wax would keep it dry but having them soaked in a flammable compound makes them so much better!

What an underrated little gem of a video you have here m8. Very nice, thank you. I'm currently soaking birch and pine in turpentine.

I like to lightly coat cotton pads, balls, dental cotton plugs, etc. in paraffin lamp oil then dip them in paraffin wax to seal the oil in and extend the burn time.

Interesting experiment, thanks for sharing. By the way, I’m a Norton fan too!
