Lion Dance | House Blessing and Performance

After the horrendous two years of hard lockdowns and restrictions, I felt we really needed something to break us out of the doldrums.
During our annual family Chinese/Lunar New Year party, I organised a special and secret lion dance performance.
Hung Hing Lion Dance Association turned out all the stops! They brought two incredible lions and an entire troupe of drummers and percussionists.
They started off by blessing the house and my immediate family. You may have heard us all scream in shock when the lion threw me a mandarin only to drop it! In my defense, I was carrying a heavy camera and gimbal setup whilst trying to catch a fruit!
Then the two lions went into the backyard and blessed/entertained each and every guest. An energetic performance wowed my party guests. However, it wasn't until the lions and troupe walked to the front of the house did we realise that my ENTIRE street/neighbours all turned up for a little performance.
Hung Hing Lion Dance crew were all incredibly friendly, professional and generous. Every single one of my family and friends said that this was singularly the BEST lion dance performance they've experienced. This is a big call as we have seen and experienced MANY lion dances in our time.
