dead poets society but only the parts i quote daily

- Edit:
A previous version of this video featured Charlie's nickname Nuwanda as a quote. I have since edited that section out of the video as I became aware of the cultural appropriation behind the name. Yes, the film was made in and took place at a different time period. That does not negate the real harm perpetuating the appropriation can do. I take full accountability and sincerely apologize.
Remember, media can have outdated elements and still be enjoyed as a whole, while also pointing out the things that are wrong. Thank you to the people in the fandom who have pointed these elements out. Again, I apologize to anyone hurt or disappointed by the inclusion of the nickname.
I hope you enjoy the video. Have a lovely day :)
(original description is as follows:)
So basically DPS is my favorite movie. I'm probably a little too attached to these Poets but eh whatever lol. I quote these clips every day, so I decided to compile them together. Enjoy!
Also, I have a Spotify account now! I've made playlists for both Anderperry and Neil so far: open.spotify.c...
And yes, I am a Cameron apologist. I regret nothing.

i love the movie and i love charlie as well, but i feel like we definitely should not celebrate his cultural appropriation. like “nuwanda” is not a quirky alt name to go against your white parents, it’s appropriation of a culture you think is “untamed.” i love this video otherwise tho
YES absolutely! I had no idea of the cultural appropriation when I made the video, but I totally agree with you. :)
he's my favourite character and a gay hot mess but I was super uncomfortable watching those parts of the movie
You are all joking, right?
That isn't cultural apropriation
It's not cultural appropriation, it's a joke. And who the heck here is "celebrating" it? Like nobody's hosting a dinner party or anything because of it.
@@mraaronludwig chill
This movie is full of beautiful lines but despite that “who gave us half a roll” is my favourite 😭
iM eAtiNg ThE oThEr HaLf
Damn Knox
“It’s for you. It’s God. He says we should have girls at Welton.”
Lmao I love this movie.
Also, TO INDEED BE A GOD
This fandom will never die and I love that for us

The sheer impact Gale Hansen quotes have had on my life I swear-
I'm not a dub kinda person. For as long as I remember, I've wanted to watch movies in their original language. I always wanted to know what the original title was. I'm not a native speaker, I'm italian, but as soon as I knew english enough, no more dub in my life. This film though. The dub isn't better, but THE TITLE. Let me tell you. It's just so poetic and heartbreaking. It's called "L'attimo fuggente". Now, carpe diem means "size the moment" and in italian is "cogli l'attimo", with "attimo" meaning "moment";
"fuggente" means "that is running away, that is escaping". This movie is called "The escaping moment". What a sad beautiful joke. For their moment was just there, but they couldn't size it.
This is one of the coolest comments I've ever received!! Thank you for sharing this info with us! I think the title sounds so...bittersweet? Such a sad but wonderful phrase. :)
:((
Now I'm sobbing, I thank you, and I'm also mad at you T_T
Oh! Reminds me of the title in french, which is 'le cercle des poètes disparus' (the circle of the missing/vanished poets) ^-^ translations are pretty fun
also, dead poets society is translated in italian with la setta dei poeti estinti which isn't exactly the coolest title for a movie- but yeah FUCK I LOVE OUR VERSION OF THE TITLE SO MUCH. i swear, it's one of the most beautiful movie title translations i've ever came across.
i have like all the dialogue to this movie memorized 😩 whenever i watch it i say everything along w/ them
Same here :D
That’s cool I’m sure we all have a special movie we have memorized
“TO INDEED BE A GOD!” Is something I quote non stop now
"meeks. door closed."
"yes sir- 😏"
Ok but Charlie highkey serenaded Knox with their saxophone that one meeting and then the director went "oh no was that too gay? better have Charlie tousle Knox's hair like they're bros." I mean come on, it was so obvious
tbh never thought I'd be in tears over TWO gay ships from this movie
STOP IT THATS LITERALLY WHAT MUST HAVE HAPPENED
(also big mood)
like fellas is it gay to serenade a sad Knox Overstreet with a saxophone and ruffle his hair
@@Pineapple_Coffee sources say:
idk ask historians
Okay but can we also talk about Cameron being super jealous when Charlie was flirting with the girls
Robert Sean Leonard is a gift
Literally in love with him 😂
i hate cameron , but i love him.
but i hate him . but i love him .
same
gale hansen is literally charlie i love him so much
“you can’t tell a character is bi with one word”
“keen”
This movie made me smile in a sort of happy and nostalgic way. Besides the heartbreaking end I wanted to be a part of them and I was truly inspired. I wish I was one of the dead poets so bad
Same. It’s definitely one of my comfort movies now. Also I love your profile picture!
I quote "ill try anything once" "except sex" "ha ha " and "yes sir" constantly.
ILY. I fully believe Cam has a little thing for charlie but he hates it and he's in denial and I fully believe that he is overly hated. This is his first time being included the poor thing. Also Keating and McAllister had a thing I am 100% convinced
Cameron definitely doesn't deserve any of the hate that he gets. Totally agree about him and Charlie. Every day I'm sad there isn't a DPS prequel where we learn about Keating. :)
Keating and McAllister omg yes
THANK YOU
I just can't help but smile so big when he says "Mr Nolan! It's for you! It's god! He says we should have girls at Welton!
Cool video! Dead Poets Society is my favourite movie too! It’s literally a ✨masterpiece✨. I always quote “Carpe Diem”, and I kind of double-quote “But room, fairy, here comes Oberon!” because I’m quoting one of my favourite Shakespeare plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and quoting Neil 😂💛
Shakespeare and DPS fans unite! Midsummer Night’s Dream has been my favorite Shakespeare play long before I ever saw DPS, so I relate to quoting it twice as often now. Glad you enjoyed the video! :D
wait is there like a Robert Sean Leonard fandom are the kids out here in love with him?? Children?! DO YOU LOVE HIM?
Oh there is DEFINITELY a fandom for him. The love ranges from people who just admire his talent to people with celebrity crushes lol
@@Pineapple_Coffee lol that's awesome, I've adored him since I was a teen myself!:)
WE LOVE HIM
@@mollie-maiellmer6607 This gladdens my middle-aged heart!

2:47 I mean no you wanna hear it in spanish (insert spanish voice)no
something i feel everyone does and understand is shutting off the film after the curtain closes after the play. only seen past it twice i watch dps three times a week
Excellent quotes
(And I love Cameron too so it’s okay)
This was one of those movies they used to make us watch year after year at highschool, and I loved it and also had it at home, so I saw it A LOT of times. Never ever got any of the queer subtext back then, and now is so fucking obviously there that doesn't even feel like the same movie I used to watch
i need a friend group thatll understand my dead poets quotes ahhh
Why did this video have to end?
Why did the movie have to end? There should’ve been a sequel
Freakin love this movie and these boys... but I'm honestly tired of people making any close male friendship into a romantic one. I didn't see that at ALL when I watched this film. I saw a beautiful representation of something most modern people don't understand anymore: true intimacy in friendship. Most young people nowadays don't HAVE friends, by their own admission, let alone ones as close and intimate as this -- can't expect them to recognize it when they see it, I guess. I said what I said.
You don't have to read romantic subcontext into every instance of intimacy.
my family will still quote "how was your summer slick? --keen" to eachother 😂
Am I the only one, who is totally in love with our dear Nuwanda? 😭❤️
“We don’t read and write poetry because its cute…We read and write poetry because we’re members of the human race…And the Human Race is filled with passion…
Medicine, Law, Business, Engineering…These are noble pursuits, and necessary to sustain life…But Poetry, Beauty, Romance, Love…These are what we stay alive for…
That you are here…That life exists…The powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse…What will your verse be?…”
One of the greatest monologues of all time…
