    Thankyou! This video is really useful and practical.
    I have a follow up question. How much time do you usually allot for building rapport at the beginning of the interview? For example, if the total expected interview time is 50 min to 1 hr

      there is no such rule, as having a rule for this would arguably be counterproductive, possibly making the communication artificial, which is exactly the opposite of what you want :) depends on the speaker and how you're getting along. I would say on average there is around 1 or 2 minutes of small talk before I start the actual interview, but like I said, I would not treat this as a rule

    Please, Can one use a Text-based interview by putting the question on google docs and share it with participants?

      you can conduct your interviews this way, or even through messenger, but it is never gonna be the same as a traditional interview

    Thanks for your useful advice! There was a situation that I ended recording when a known interviewee started casuall talk with me, but he suddenly talked about the interview topic again, can I write down what I've missed and meanwhile sneakily start recording again?

    • @qualitativeresearcher
      @qualitativeresearcher  9 месяцев назад +1

      when you say "sneakily", I feel like saying "no, this is unethical" - but since you are not telling them officially "now I will not be recording anymore", and they agree to be recorded in the first place, yeah I think that is absolutely fine :)

      Thanks for your practical reply! I think generally we don't officially tell about ending recording. For the ethical thing, is the oral consent from interviewees before recording valid? Or should we make it proved by asking for consent again during the recording or by written forms? @@qualitativeresearcher

    Dear Dr,
    Can you please tell me if you have any videos or articles about how to discuss numerical data in qualitative research? I did the table of data and my supervisor asked me to write a conclusion under the table to describe it. Could you please tell me if you have a sample? If yes, where can I find it?
    Heartfelt thanks for your enormous help.

      @qualitativeresearcher  2 года назад +1

      I don't have a video on it, but if you mean numbers as the number of times certain codes or themes occurred, I just discuss themes and sometimes comment on how many times they occured. If you mean quantitative data, however, it is not my cup of tea at all :)

      @@qualitativeresearcher It is, in fact, qualitative data what I meant. Thank you for the clarification. That's so generous of you 💛
