I just wanted to thank you very much for posting this. I searched a lot and took me a while to find out how to install them on recessed doors. I appreciate it. Definitely subscribed
I just saw this as I am looking for something for my Dad who has progressive dementia. Thank you so much. This is very helpful. Stay safe you and your family and God Bless you.
If you use a flat self-stick magnet (like you would put onto the back of a business card to stick it on the fridge) you can make travel alarms with these as they will stick on metal hotel doors and frames.
Thanks for this super helpful video! I have epilepsy and have wandered out of the house during/after a seizure so we were thinking about getting these to put on the doors in case I try to walk away on my own at night. This video was awesome and detailed! Also, thank you for the neat tips! :)
Thanks for the video. I weren't too sure about buying this until I saw your video. I purchased 8 of these. Absaloutly happy with them. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT 👍💯
The main problem is the batteries. These LR types are expensive. The Doberman door alarm has AAA batteries and remote key also. After locking the door, one can activate the alarm with remote key from outside. But all these door alarms have one major disadvantage. Once an intrudes opens the door, his tendency will be to close the door immediately after entering and so the alarm will not be audible to the neighbours. The best security system is the one that has external siren devise.
Purchased many of these from Harbor Freight tools . I use on home windows that I might have a few inches open when home . Also good for children or women to cary in the store if approached or annoyed by someone . Simpli Safe has alert setting adjusted seperste from alarm system and I use on my car in driveway with door contact or motion sensor .
♥♥ Not quite sure what the problem is with the double-sided tape included with those GE alarms you bought. I purchased 4 of those same type of GE alarms 7 years ago (in 2013), and none of them have fallen off. Possibly your door(s) and the door jamb(s) are made from something that the double-sided stickers don't adhere to very well. If that's the case, I'd suggest that you could "paint" a small narrow strip of clear varnish where you're going to attach the 2 parts of the alarm. Just LAST WEEK, the 2 alarms that I placed on my front door just started making a "clicking" noise, rather than the "alarm" sound. Of course, that front door gets used a lot more than the other doors I attached alarms to. Hence, I bought a 20-pack of LR44 batteries from Amazon, and changed the batteries in those 2 alarms. They're up and working fine, now. I only needed to change 8 batteries (for those 2 alarms), so I have extras if\when the other 2 alarms need it. I was kinda impressed that the original batteries worked for 7 years.
Great video and I actually bought a set. It is SUPER loud however I’m unable to use them as my door frame sticks out farther that the door when the door is shut. Any solution for that? Is there a way to maybe built up the back of the alarm (larger piece) so that they can connect?
What do you think of TTFDs? Im taking some for intestinal neuropathy (after taking SNRIs for 4yrs), ulcerative colitis, coeliac disease & life long IBS. Im currently taking 100mg 2x a day. Im hoping it can assist with my degenerative spine too. Thanks for your video
I only use them while I'm in the home, so at night, I made it part of my nightly routine to turn them on. You could turn them on before leaving, you will just have to listen to the siren for however long your door is open--if someone opens your door when you are gone, the alarms will do a great job at scarring them, or letting the person think you have a full alarm system. I hope this helps!
The only downside is that if someone who is robbing your house is smart enough. They'll know to just shut the door very quickly so the alarm stops. Than it's as simple as them turning the thing off. That's if there smart though, but if they are someone who scares easily, they will bolt.
Great video! Wha about the GE door stopper? Can you please do a video about that one? I bought this product from Princess Auto. It came with a personal alarm and a door stopper alarm. Thanks again for a very informative video.
Thanks man! I have double sliding patio doors and this should work perfectly. I need something that has a high sound I can trust to wake me if I'm asleep.
DarkMetal Fabrication Dude, these alarms are awesome! Very easy to install. When I tested the sound, I didn't think they would be as loud as they are but they are extremely loud for 120dbs. I can definitely depend on them for waking me up during my sleep if needed. Thanks again for the review! 👍🏾
Do you know of anything like this - that will trigger a much more long-lasting alert? A two-tone beep is insufficient for my needs. I'm looking for something that will wake up a sleeping person (even if/after the door is closed again).
@Cameron Pitts That the alarm stops when the door is closed renders it mostly useless (at waking someone up). The door can be quickly opened and then closed before it wakes someone else. Luckily, I found another product that triggers a 3 minute alarm if/when the door is opened (regardless of whether it is closed thereafter). It costs a bit more, but it also works from a remote sensor that can monitor 4 sensors at once (all helpful for solving the problem of remotely monitoring access points while sleeping).
@Cameron Pitts Alas, the second device I bought had the same problem. I think I'm going to have to design one myself, since no one making/selling these products seems to understand their actual use in real life.
Question. I live in an apartment and I don't want to upset the neighbors with a loud noise. Is there any way to get into my apartment quietly with one of these devices on my door?
Sorry for the delay in the response. Unfortunately with the GE device, there isnt any type of volume control. I'm sure if you wanted to get creative with it, you could cover the speaker and limit the DB's (loudness). You might get the volume you are looking for, with something as simple as gorilla tape.
I put one on my medicine cabinet and was suprised how many people opened my cabinets .and a lot were my kids friends. lol. people are a trip. can we have one that sets other alerts off like something to scare the crap out of them? Id like a police siren.
I like it but, I would like the alarm to stay on no matter what for at least 30 seconds to a minute.. seeing as some one could open slide in and close the door in less than 5 seconds.. and you may not hear it..
A good video but a bad way to power the device. I bought one a returned it right away. Those batteries are expensive to replace and a bit clumsy to remove and install.
I sent my mom the link to this video , she said she wants to get some . I hope she does. My parents have a huge nice house in PA in middle of nowhere an its just them 2 an they do have guns but I want them to be able to hear if someone opens one of there doors or windows so my mom can call 911 while my dad grabs his gun
Not for a security alarm, if a thieft opened the door he can stop or break the decice in few seconds. I saw another much better invention where the alarm turns on your mobile and it can even send messages to specific people of friends for help.
But how much is it?? The min that sounds off 8 times out of 10 a burglar is going to run. These are very affordable. Not everyone has smart phones some no phones at all. This is great not only for someone breaking in but kids that try to go out the door, people with disabilities that wonder off and high locks don’t work, etc.
Ya but if I w as breaking in a house an open a window or door an a alarm starts going off I am leaving bc idk if it's real or not idk how many people heard it or if it's real were cops already alerted did the neighbors hear it did the people in the home hear it are they calling cops if they have a dog the dog will also start barking when it goes off an silence is a burgerlers best friend it's just not worth it they are looking for easy homes to break into ones wit no alarms or dogs
hi I would like to get something like a car alarm that says you are to close please step away or my neighbor when she is drunk and turns my door knob get the bleep away from my bleepin door before I smack my cast iron pan on the inside of my door 😑😏🙄🙃🤔 Thank you have a great day🌞 I know I will solve the problem the more I think about it 👹sorry yet I am fed up 👵🐟♎🕊🍒on top
My abusive parents put this on my bedroom door so I couldn't even go to the bathroom and watched me thru a security camera when I was younger they watched me change and everything

Perfect! Great video. You answered all my questions. Thank you.
Glad this helped, thanks for watching!
Hello. I see you have some door jammers. Do you have an installation video? Thanks
Is there any way to turn it on when you leave?
I'd like something to be on when I leave.
Had not seen this particular sensor/alarm before, but I like it!
Very helpful and detailed demo. Thank you!
Glad this was helpful, Thanks for watching!
If you lose one side of your alarm is there any replacement part you would suggest to use
You may be able to use a magnet but I'm not entirely sure it would work. I think your best bet would be to order a new set.
A standard magnet will work
Do you turn off the alarm when you leave the house? How do you keep the alarm on and keep it from going off when you open the door?
I only use them while I'm in the home, so at night, I made it part of my nightly routine to turn them on. You could turn them on before leaving, you will just have to listen to the siren for however long your door is open--if someone opens your door when you are gone, the alarms will do a great job at scarring them, or letting the person think you have a full alarm system. Thanks for the video. I'm buying these
Thanks for watching! I hope the sensors work out for you.

How should I enable it while going out without it making noise?
Question: so what if you’re not home do these connect to your phone so you get notifications?
No, unfortunately not.
Thank you sir for your informative and highly useful blog.
I notice you have 2 of these on your door? Do you suggest that or was this for just for the review...I'm heading to Walmart to pick on a few...Thanks
Great video! Wha about the GE door stopper? Can you please do a video about that one? I bought this product from Princess Auto. It came with a personal alarm and a door stopper alarm. Thanks again for a very informative video.
Going to pick up a couple of these. Thanks!
Glad this helped!
Thank you!
I have been looking for something like this, perfect thank you!
Glad this helped. Thanks for watching!
DarkMetal Fabrication I just bought some thanks!
Great tips!! Thanks for posting this!!!
Glad it was helpful to you, Thanks for watching!
Thanks man! I have double sliding patio doors and this should work perfectly. I need something that has a high sound I can trust to wake me if I'm asleep.
Glad this helped. And the DB's on these alarms are insanely strong, so hopefully its what you are looking for. Thanks for watching!
DarkMetal Fabrication found them on Amazon! 👍🏾
Awesome, let me know what you think where you hear how loud they are
DarkMetal Fabrication will do
DarkMetal Fabrication Dude, these alarms are awesome! Very easy to install. When I tested the sound, I didn't think they would be as loud as they are but they are extremely loud for 120dbs. I can definitely depend on them for waking me up during my sleep if needed. Thanks again for the review! 👍🏾
Can you show how to put on windows

I just got this bout to set it up...😆😆
Chicki Gurl, the tape it comes with is pretty terrible, go pick up a roll of 3m double sided tape. I havent had any issues with the 3m tape holding.
DarkMetal Fabrication thank you...

Ok but the moment you hear the alarm you know there's a burglar and can act immediately. That's the point. This device is affordable and does the job.
