He's right about the "Brrrr-ah" type sounds...and the short "Mah-mahr-mahr" sounds are very close to what their mama-cat uses when 'gathering' them for nursing/cleaning/naptime - it usually brings mine a'running. 😹
I swear, communicating almost exclusively by trill or sqeak is a Nebelung thing. very quiet/light speakers for the most part... except for when he yowls while bringing me his toy at 3am 😂
I just call their name or say treats, dinner, cheese or biscuits among many words or I use my clicker. I'd rather teach them human than learn cat. They have learnt what your sounds mean. I will try on a random cat tho and see what happens lol... To be continued

Maine Coons also trill instead of meowing. Our Maine Coon mix very rarely meows, but trills quite often.
