thank you so much for introducing me to Cedric Morris. There are many thoughts and impressions I could express about the art in your beautiful manor house, but I will just say thanks again for bringing us into your home.
Yes, the composition revolves around that delicate, orange-yellow tulip; once my eyes rested on it, they didn't really want to leave, but they did, to explore the form, shape and wildness of the other flowers. But then I had to go back to that lovely flower, which drew my eyes like that of a lighted candle. I can see what you mean about the painting have a 'centreing' effect on its surrounds; it is a microcosm garden in itself. Beautiful painting.
I love these episodes! Started with episode one, not sure what to expect. I was captured. I was a history major but felt I was close to being an art history major with the amount of courses I took in the genre. It was my intention to teach graduate studies in Art History but I had some life obstacles as many of us do. But I am an amateur abstract painter now and have exhibited in Russia and galleries in Europe. I’m 53 but I’m not finished yet! Thank you for your videos , insight and education!!
...it is said every cloud has a silver lining ...the cloud of isolation cracked open slightly to-day ...I found and enjoyed your video ...your beautiful painting ...the interesting informative narrative ... and a peek into your home ...thank you so much for sharing ...t.
Love it love it love it love it again thank you is much for your videos we appreciate all this you and your son are doing. It's so cool to be welcomed into your private world, that world we all hold dear and protect yet as you continue with this series all on your own....i truly appreciate it and you and all your sharing.
Everytime you discuss an artist and/or painting, you open my eyes and mind to the complexity and loveliness of artistic expression -- in whatever form it takes -- a painting (landscape or portrait or sculpture or still life or lettering) larger than life or smaller than life. Makes me cry a little -- the same way I cry at spectacular beauty in whatever form it takes. May the Lord bless you, your family, your country and your efforts in sharing your heart and mind with the world. Especially now when it is so easy to be overwhelmed by fear and darkness and dread. Keep leaning into the wind. Peace 🙏🐶
Fabulous Cedric Morris - viewed exhibition @ Phillip Mould Gallery. Sadly didn’t make it to the Garden Museum exhibition of Cedric Morris which ran concurrently with Philip Mould’s beautiful exhibition. Thank you!
Thank you for bringing Morris to my attention. I often find after one of your reviews I want to research the artist, and that leads me down a whole other trail of learning.
Your beautiful dog on the settee so much reminds me of "I was a wolf once; wild and wary. Then I discovered you had settees." Another really interesting video. Thanks!
I'm not David Gredley I'm Linda Gredley his wife and am sitting at his desktop whilst he's in his shed. I should be gardening, I could be doing lunch, I could be doing the housework, I could be tidying up my piles of papers but why would I want to when I have these marvellous videos to watch that a friend recommended and that I'm enjoying so much I'm addicted to them. Your house is beautiful, your paintings and other pieces exquisite and I could listen to you telling us about them for hours, brilliant you have cheered me up in isolation. A big thank you to you and of course Oliver.
I really enjoyed art isolation videos just found them on u tube. I think you are amazing I’ve always followed your art programs. I’m an enthusiastic oil painter for the last 20 years just love it and have always loved art and art history Brilliant certainly helped my isolation. Fantastic Phillip!!!!!!! More please 😂😊
Thank you so much for these films. I discovered Cedric Morris only last week, his flower paintings are fantastic. The fact that Lucien Freud accidentally burnt down Cedric's painting school almost as soon as he arrived there is one of the best bits of trivia I have heard in a long time.
This spectacular painting reminds me of one of our great English -Canadian painters, JEH MacDonald b 1873. His most famous work, The Tangled Garden has many similar wonderful qualities!
The yellow and red tulip is like the red buoy in that memorable scene in "Mr. Turner" when the artist spontaneously adds it to his 'finished' picture during the exhibition!
Oh brilliant! Philip, when you covered the orange tulip the balance of the picture was completely altered: it somehow folded on itself. I just love these short personal videos. I am learning so much, and travel by proxy. There is even a beloved hound to accompany me. ❤️🐕🦺❤️🐶❤️
I live in Australia and enjoy your Fake or Fortune series. I stumbled upon this series a couple of days ago and LOVE it! Thank you so much for doing the Isolation series. Xo
Viewing your films, i realize how i truly miss the landscape and light of my homes in New England. This barrier island is beautifull, with the turquoise waters, and underlying quartz crystal sands, but to me it is all about the light. Thank you. You are stunning!
Thank you so much for introducing me to Sir Cedric Lockwood Morris! I live in East Sussex near Charleston and Rodmell. I love the work of Henry Lamb, the Nicholsons, Ravilious, Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant. Cedric Morris is a sublime painter.
The painting is wonderful but oh my goodness your home is out of this world! So full of character and warmth. So glad I stumbled across this. Will be watching the series for sure.
From your friends in the US, thanks so much for the 'Isolation' videos. As an artist and art major, every one is a welcome learning experience in every way. Fun to see your personal collection after watching many episodes of Fake or Fortune, and what they mean to you aside from being an art dealer. It has always been important to me to see how a work strikes me also from a distance, this was a perfect example of the impact of that.
So glad to find your isolation series even now! Your comments really help me see in a different way with my own paintings. I also analyze the masters at Canada's National Art Gallery! Thank you so much, keep up the great work! P.S. love your beautiful ancient home, so much character!
Oh I absolutely loved this because I’m a passionate plantswoman and painter and I love Cedric Morris. I also loved your home, if it is your home and the dog on the settee. Can’t wait to hear your next video. Thank you so much for posting.
The weekend rather dragged without your next episode. Because of time difference it is Tuesday morning before I get to see it. Love all of these. I am torn between loving your home and environment and the art work . Greetings from Melbourne Australia
OH! Thank you for sharring this, i will watch all the episodes and research Cedric Morris, warm and inviting. Just what we all need in this time. Again, thank you for sharring. Looking forward to more.
Thank you Philip and Oliver. These are great. We are a little behind as we only just discovered the series but we will catch up fast! Just wanted to say how hilarious your opening is, with it’s nod to Downton, complete with large golden coloured dog! So clever. And the art. Did I mention the art? Really enjoying your stories and learning about a few new artists. Loved the paintings in the previous episode with the Didcot towers. I was always ambivalent about them. Not keen on the pollution but at the same time I loved the shapes and the monumentality of them. Fantastic work thank you!!! Stay safe, as we are trying to do in Canberra, Australia.
Glad I found your channel too. Taken some art history, but Cedric unknown to me. I'm from Chicago area and I've always loved your Fake or Fortune series! Your house looks beautiful.
I'm going to say Teneriffe, after some research! I've really enjoyed all the episodes so far. I only know Cedric Morris as an artist name I've come across in the past so it's lovely to be able to learn more about him. And finding out about Roger Wagner's work is *lovely*, now I have a new artist to do even more research about!
@@philipmouldco4360 Thank you! I actually searched for his landscapes, and then...looked at the building roofs in one of his Tenerife paintings and noticed it looked rather like one of the buildings next to that lovely pink church so I took a bit of a leap of a guess there (not very scientific or scholarly but it turned out to be correct this time!)
Loved your video. Can't wait to see more. I too love art. Your collection looks amazing. That painting is so beautiful. I just adore the iris, especially the purple one. My Mom had flower beds full of them.
I really enjoyed this . I was sorting through u-tube to find clips to inspire my U3A Art Appreciation via Zoom group. We have had two meetings on gardens as inspiration and your wonderful insight sharing this obviously treasured painting will add so much. I now can't wait to explore the rest of your series. Thank you so much.
I understand why you love Cedric Morris, the flowers. I love that you love wildflowers. It’s so easy to love the haughty roses but it takes a special person to favor the humble wildflower.
Great inspiration for all gardeners - when you know your extended plant family out there ...then it is so much fun to express your self with plants and gardens . feel free in love to Gaia.
thank you so much for introducing me to Cedric Morris. There are many thoughts and impressions I could express about the art in your beautiful manor house, but I will just say thanks again for bringing us into your home.
You are so great for doing this. I am deeply inspired by this production and thank you to Oliver for all the work he's done on this!

Even better 2nd time round. !!! Your programmes did so much good. Thanks. Warren
Thrilled to have discovered your in isolation series. I love Cedric Morris’ painting too, thankyou for sharing your love of his work
Completely loved the editing in this one, especially the dash up the stairs and the sound that went with it. Big smile. Thank you!

Such an informative and delightful “series”, thank-you! Enjoying from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
I’ll consider the apprehension in the plants I meet on my next aimless walk, what a delightful approach.
Absolutely brilliant. Thanks, Philip
Thank you Phillip for this series - so uplifting - thanks for sharing your deep insight, charm and passion for beauty.

What a wonderful discovery; Cedric Morris was an important modernist and avid nature enthusiast! ES
This spectacular painting reminds me of one of our great English -Canadian painters, JEH MacDonald b 1873. His most famous work, The Tangled Garden has many similar wonderful qualities!
Thank you so much . It is so nice to have this beautiful bit of comfort during these difficult times.
Somehow each flower is lit perfectly and singly and the painting glows. Thank you!
Thank you, what at a wonderful little gem this is!
The yellow and red tulip is like the red buoy in that memorable scene in "Mr. Turner" when the artist spontaneously adds it to his 'finished' picture during the exhibition!
Lucky Day!! I found this somehow. Now I get to go find the other episodes! Thanks much, luv these.
Thank you SO much. I learn so much from you. This series should become a classic! Anna

Beautiful! He used color as composition. Magnificent how he made the dark background work with so many other dark colors in the flowers.
An immensely skilled artist!
That was wonderful. Thank you so much!
