Well done ! I love how your talk your way around the 1 cup of flour...lol...I agree, it is a great tradeoff. I think your meals represent how many people eat. Never feel you need to apologize for it. It seems your stockpile is slowly dwindling, which is to be expected...but I am very excited to see how long it can go at $23 a week.
Terrific week! I admire your creative use of leftovers - the Philly cheesesteak pizza looked so delicious. You use up every last bit of food and end up with no waste. Awesome job!
I saw on Facebook the article The Chronicle Herald did on your channel. However, I was so disappointed in the comments people made without watching your channel. I hope you don’t absorb any of their negativity. People aren’t realizing that some people only have a small budget. Maybe they do some suggestions or not, the channel is about budget meals and how to live minimally. Anyway, I think you’re doing a great job sharing ideas. ❤
Thank you, Kathleen. It's very unfortunate that the picture reflected the minimal amount of processed food I purchase. I should have had the foresight that without watching the series, that might give a different impression than what is actually happened. I learned from that. I'm sad that so many people have jumped to the wrong conclusion. The opposite of what I am trying to show. Thanks for watching and checking in on me. ❤
Wait, I didn’t know about this article, how can I find it? So proud of you, Melanie, and you should be proud of yourself too. As TS would say, “The haters gonna hate”, let them bc they aren’t worthy of you!
@frugallifehappywife3993 It was published in the Saltwire network. Try searching The Chronicle Herald and Adventures in Groceryland. For some reason, I can't figure out how to share it. There are some restrictions regarding sharing news in Canada on social media. I didn't try to share it to RUclips. I'll try that.
Hi Melanie 🤗 Anything goes on pizza!LOL Spillover is a given with scalloped potatoes. That meal looked so good! Make that Handsome One Pay!!!! LOL payment in flour - I love it🥰 You are doing a fantastic job with this challenge.
Your meals have been fantastic for the entire challenge, start to now. Even on a tight budget you’ve worked lots of healthy and homemade items into the menu. Well done! Let’s be honest, we all enjoy treat meals and convenience items from time to time.
Another great week of meals. The 2.5 kg flour is on sale this week at superstore I’m sure you know. I read the article on the newspaper page and was very annoyed at comments. Can’t imagine how it made you feel. It’s an example of how people don’t read let alone go watch one of your videos. Just quick to jump to conclusions all wrong ones. Sorry you had to endure that.
I'll admit, I debated the sale of 2.99 or the raincheck for 1.44. I love hoarding the rainchecks but I think I'm going to need that extra bit in the budget this week. Decisions, decisions!
We love taco pizza with leftover ground beef and I use salsa or enchilada sauce instead of pizza sauce. We also do a chicken garlic pizza with butter and garlic instead of sauce or buffalo chicken. There are so many options to use up leftovers in a new meal.
You cook up a lot of healthy food right from scratch and on a budget too. Thank you for all your hard work. I really appreciate it and am watching your older videos too. 😊
"If something randomly comes in the flyer"... and BOOM $2.99 for 2.5 kg of flour this week (if that is better than your raincheck). :) (Hello from here in the area!) :)
My husband has an extremely physical job so this amount of food would not be enough for him. He's a UPS driver and eats once a day. So he comes home starving every night. But I've had a budget of $80 a week this entire year (we live in Ohio) and I've been doing really well sticking to it. He eats a lot of protein and iron rich foods because he requires them. He's 6'2 and jacked lol. I could probably reduce the budget to $60 a week and still be ok though.
This is a challenge for me. My regular budget for myself and spouse is approximately $60/weekly. Sometimes, we're a bit over and sometimes a bit under. It balances out. How do our grocery sale prices compare to Ohio sale prices?
@uresingrocerylandWell it's rough because Canadian money isn't the same value as USD and it fluctuates a lot. Currently your dollar is $1.35 USD. a 5lb bag of flour at walmart is 2.49 so that's 3.37CAD. I've got a coupon for 12 kroger eggs for 1.49 so that's 2.02CAD. There aren't really any bulk grocery stores around here. Fresh Thyme used to be great for that but the closest one now is in Kentucky and it's just a pain to go over the bridge unless i time it right lol. traffic. Are there any specific foods you want me to look up? Asparagus is on sale at kroger this week for 1.49 a pound so im definitely buying some of that tomorrow! :) a pound of peanut butter is on sale as well for 1.49. So everything you buy seems overpriced to me but i have to remember that canadian stuff is always more expensive. I remember buying books as a kid with both prices listed inside and being appalled that you had to pay more lol.
@Charley7771 Thanks for watching! Mostly correct. If I use an actual recipe, I share the recipe. Most meals I don't use recipes. If there is ever something you see, I could probably throw together a loose guideline for you.
I mean you say a bunch of processed foods but the pizza was completely homemade, basically the only processed meal you ate was hot dogs and the Mac and cheese. That's less than most families.
It's just a lot more than my normal. I don't want people to think you must eat unhealthy to eat on a budget. The pizza was so good. Some people just have issues with pizza in general.
Flour and yeast are definite needs...you can do so much with these. Great meals.😊

I did talk all around that. I felt guilty but not that guilty. I mean he ate on the $23 all week!!
Terrific week! I admire your creative use of leftovers - the Philly cheesesteak pizza looked so delicious. You use up every last bit of food and end up with no waste. Awesome job!
Thanks so much. The philly cheese steak pizza was really good. Yum yummy..

Great job as usual! So much food left over - unbelievable!
I know. Even with him eating, there is still a lot of food.
Another great week of meals. Loved the idea of leftover pizza...... Enjoy the weekend. Catherine
Thanks, Catherine. You too!

I love your channel. I wait for your videos to come out. Great job!
Aww. Thanks, Darlene. That is really kind.

Yes, we do. Thanks for watching, Larissa.
The amount of proteins you have is impressive, they're so pricey!
Thank you Robin. I appreciate that feedback!
You are doing so well on these challenges.
Thanks Stephanie.
Yum!! Good job, as always! Good for you on working on sprouting again! 💖
They are coming along OK. I'm not the most experienced sprouter.
Love your video. I live in Ontario so it is nice to see your prices and products are the same as what I deal with.
Thanks, Heather. I'm glad you liked it. I've made a Playlist for the $23 challenge. That will be helpful if you want to watch the series!
Those poor split peas...they are still hanging around. Lol😅
Ha ha ha. They need to get in a soup!
Your sausage and scalloped potato dinner looks delicious Melanie. ❤
Thank you 😋
Cool that you are germinating sprouts❤🎉🎉🎉😊

All of these meals look fantastic! I have PB protein balls on my meal prep list now. :)
They are really filling. For me, they make a perfect little breakfast. Thanks for watching.

Yes. Agreed. Time to get creative. ❤️
The #peanutbutter #proteinballs look good and #healthy ❤😊
Thanks, Sandie. They are very filling.

I grabbed a few Kraft dinners at .55 too for my pantry!!! 🎉
I don't eat Kraft Dinner daily, or even weekly. At 0.55, how could I not throw some into the pantry. 😊
I don’t eat it very much either but I’m stocking my pantry so I pick up a bunch at .55 it’s a great deal.
They are comfort food but I only eat it with LOTS of 🥦🥦🥦 lol. And because the cheese sauce is so plentiful, I add another 1/2 cup of pasta. 😮
"If something randomly comes in the flyer"... and BOOM $2.99 for 2.5 kg of flour this week (if that is better than your raincheck). :) (Hello from here in the area!) :)
Ha Ha Ha! I know, right! I had a decision to make. The raincheck was for $2.44 the flyer $2.99. Decisions, decisions.
I have seen people sprout lentils also
I think there are lentils in the bean medley!

oh and 8oz blocks of cheese are on sale for 1.79 with a digital coupon at kroger! You can use it up to 5 times so that's fun too.
@@DeterminedDIYer Wow. The flour and eggs are phenomenal for you! ❤️
I might get stuff for #pizza today as we are expecting rain or some kind of #activeweather here in #Halifax and I can eat it through the #storm 😊
#nsstorm
Our weather has been crummy lately. Geez.
Today at no frills I saw the pc smoked Black Forest ham on sale for $1.50 for a 175 g pkg. I grabbed 3 because they are usually so much more. 🎉
I think that there are 9-10 slices per pkg. 😊
Maybe the handsome one should donate all of the household flour to your pantry since he's enjoying meals from the budget?
Ha Ha Ha.
Simple food simple life recommended you. I see why.
Aww, thanks. That was kind of them to recommend me. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I just jumped into your channel after a recommendation, so there is no recipes for the meals? Am I correct?
