If the Total War Series is on the next Xbox and all the games are available with the Steam app on the next Xbox playing beautifully, I'm definitely going to buy it day one. It would be cool to play my total war games on the next Xbox from the comfort of my couch.😊
Brilliant move by Xbox!! By having other PC companies make their own version of Xbox consoles it allows them to purchase other gaming studios without the major push back it received with the ABK deal. Because Xbox is sharing their games with other companies unlike PlayStation timed exclusives 😅
If no one buys an Xbox now because their sales are very bad, why would a company say hey, let's make something that already doesn't sell. That doesn't make sense
MS is not porting all their games over. They never said thag. They said games will go on a case by case basis. Jez is engagement farming like all other insiders.
You’re going to be surprised when everything does indeed get ported over. Idk how you can believe otherwise at this point. I’m all for Xbox still having core exclusives but I don’t think that’s going to be the case anymore.
@Arthur0ne YOUR OPINION. Has MS ever came out and said everything is going over? If you look at the games they ported why should those games stay exclusive besides maybe hifi and rush and grounded?
@ I’m not trying to argue what should and shouldn’t be exclusive, my whole point is that there is zero reason to believe anything will still exclusive. I really hope you’re right and we continue to have Xbox only console exclusives. I’ll be the first the one to admit I was wrong.
@Arthur0ne Its NOT console exclusives you mean ecosystem exclusives yes. This is what satya was saying when changing the way how ppl see xbox is what he was talking about.
The Xbox series x|s could be the base models or minimum specs then the oems could make an equivalent or high end model using different chips like intel nvidia etc. Then on the pc side you’ll have a bootable Xbox os strictly for gaming with all your launchers then windows 11 for productivity or traditional pc gaming.
Pc/console hybrid, the next evolution in consoles. Sony WILL follow, will HAVE too follow. I'm looking forward to it if I'm honest. Hopefully no more mid gens just constant next gens
The whole idea of playing steam games and sony games as part of it on an xbox is very cool. However there are so many caveats to make it work: 1. They cant optimize to just 2 xboxes…what happens with countless xbox-pc hybrids? Some games are very unoprimized on PC - like jedi survivor. 2. Price point. Samsung and Asus have to charge mark-up as they wont subsidize the consoles like MS. Average pre-built PC is at least 1K USD. I think the cheapest base xbox/pc hybrid will be around that. 3. How it differs from booting any PC and luanching xbox OS/overlay when its ready? It will be part of windows. 4. Without console market = no control. PS and big N can charge you more for putting games on their platforms. MS wont have a leverage of console share at all. 5. The paid online situation? Steam is free for example. Sounds like GP cores subs are zeroed out and GP revenues goes down as people downgrade from GPU to PC game pass. Prob more changes to GP model that we wont like as consumers. Overall GP number will drop while still not offset by cloud or PC. People still use steam and avoid GP on PC more often. Dont want to be doom+gloom guy but sounds like a way to lose platform and identy at all. Your business will just go to steam.
With tariffs a real possibility, the lead up to console distribution and manufacturing allowing 3rd party to manufacture different console configurations has the strongest model to alleviate this. Companies on a lead up of something like a console will have to buy the parts ahead of launch to prepare, it has been stipulated that Nintendo delayed Switch 2 because of this. MS and Sony do not want a situation similar to what has happened during the draught of availability.
Trumps tariff talk is no different than his border wall talk before his first inauguration. Once he steps into the Whitehouse all that tariff talk will go away. It's 2025, not 1955, so tariffs are a net zero gain strategy in this economic globalized world.

What I see is a lot of speculation and fear mongering from those who play the podcast game on both sides. Some are quelling those fears w/ some good logic using hints from previous statements from Xbox leadership. But that said, I have no fear of what xbox is doing and where they are going in the near future. Xbox is playing a long game to keep their brand around for another decade or 3. The next xbox will still be dedicated hardware w/ options to use other dedicated or cloud platforms. Tflops only matter for the amount of calculations that can happen at any given time. So in theory it means more actions can happen in front and behind the scenes. But, it's still up to the sdk and devs proficiency. I'm hoping the next xbox from Xbox is a flagship like the surface line w/ near top tier hardware and premium quality/design. I'd pay $700-800 for something that matches an rtx 5080 and a 14th/15th gen cpu. I'd pay for real hardware performance, not some p'ssr shit.
Im not sure that if they let other manufacturers build them that they will have the freedom to change components and power. They will license out a design to builders and for console games to continue compatibility on these machines they may be stuck with AMD designed GPUs at minimum. You cant write a console SDK that supports multiple manufacturers and architectures of GPU.
Oh so Valve is releasing a console, but with Microsoft as a partner ? I didn't know that. I thought it was just Valve, by themselves, releasing their own console with Steam Os. So this is all happening really soon then ? I'm ok with that.
I think you might be leaving out a very big and potential con. Having many sku's for the Xbox greatly limits developer's ability to optimize there games. You really can't skip over this. Gaming on a medium built PC is a very sub par experience than an optimized console imo. You can't really sell this Utopia of 10 different manufacturers of Xbox without considering game development, tuning, and optimization.
Which is EXACTLY the issue with PC. It’s like having all the cons of PC gaming with a fraction of the pros. If they make the machine upgradable, you may as well skip it and get a PC.
It sounds good on paper!!!! But how does Microsoft make sure each OEM device gets fully supported by devs if they are allowed to choose their own spec sheet. As id guess they would be allowed to create their own app store. Which if exclusive to each OEM device creates a headache for Microsoft. Look at Android as an example. How easy is it to port & optimize to this new eco system. As devs seem to have forgotten how to make games. They moaned at the Series S & on PC moan that large amount of users use older tech. But my main concern is can Microsoft pull it off. They have great visions but never seem to make it past the finish line. Plus they will need tp market it & support its OEMs. Which again they don't have a great track record for on other consumer products in the past.
Xbox is going multiplat as well as playstation. All of their game is on pc anyway. I am playing all. But if future Xbox put steam on xbox than I going to buy that.
