I grew up listening to their music. Their music was a blessing and still blesses my soul today in 2024. RIP to the Gospel Greats Edwin and Walter Hawkins.
I wish there were full concert video recording of all the Love Alive Albums. Their music got me through rough times during my mom's transition. Thank you, Walter, Edwin, and all the Hawkins. Thank you, Mommy, for a lifetime of love and guidance. Gone but never, ever forgotten. R.I.P 4/9/2022 💔 ... And thank you, Lord, for all you've done for me 🙏🏾
I remember watching this when it first aired and still to this day I'm shocked that record labels refused to give him, a world renowned gospel artist and pioneer, a deal. He deserved so much more.
I'm watching in June 2024. Had a video about James Cleveland in my feed. And came across this video. I had a powerfully moving Holy Spirit encounter while listening to Walter Hawkins and the family. It was in the early eighties but I had been listening since the seventies. It was on the night I got baptized in the Holy Spirit. Don't recall how much time went by. I was home alone seeking God and complaining that I didn't have the baptism. I ended up moaning in the Spirit and then spoke in tongues. I put on my cassette of Walter Hawkins and completely lost track of time. The word were " Ive been praying all night long". I certainly had a break through.
The richness of this content about not only Walter, but brother Edwin and his awesome family is priceless! Their influence has touched the world with some of the greatest Music that lives on. Thank you for sharing these behind the scenes interviews of a Family I will love forever! 🍃♥️🍃
I beleive their should be a full length play or movie about their lives that the church community should flock to as much as a Tyler perry play or movie.
Thank you for this history. My late sister had all of the Hawkins family's albums. Something to keep us going, to stop and listen to this. --- BUT, it ended sorta rough...
@Trevondawson thank you for blessing us with this documentary, hope there will be more in the future. I grew up near Chicago attended every Thompson Community concert in the 70’s when the Hawkins singers were on program with the gospel greats, Albertina Walker, the Caravans, Jesse Dixon, the Thompson Community Singers aka the Tommies. The Hawkins singers stood out for me, the harmony was unmatched, the clothes, and hair were beautiful. Their messages in their songs were TRULY anointed by God! I was about eight & would fall asleep but I still heard the music. Over the years our church sang most of their songs but in 2007 I bought the double CD the greatest hits. I recall driving listening to Change I felt the Holy Spirit come over me and I remember crying tears of joy! God used Walter & his family to minister to the world through song and I am truly grateful! I am thankful that through videos we can still hear his melodious voice! Continue resting Bishop Hawkins & Edwin what a happy day you two must be having! #GOSPELLEGENDS❤️
I love the Hawkins family singers starting with The Edwin Hawkin Singers to Walter Hawkins. I remember when I was in my church choir in the 70's, we sung every song on The Love Alive first album.
The Greatest Inspiration and Influence in Gospel Music…from my early childhood (O Happy Day) to my teenage years (Love Alive 1 & 2) and well into my adult life (to this day) the Music of Walter & Edwin Hawkins flows through my heart. Thank you Trevon for sharing this awesome documentary! Blessings & Love ♥️🎶🎵🎼🎹🎶♥️
I HAD THE GREAT PRIVILEGE TO WORK WITH EDWIN AND WALTER PRODUCING MULTIPLE ALBUMS. THEY WERE HUMBLE...GIFTED...PATIENT AND INVESTED IN THE DREAMS OF MANY OTHERS. I MISS THEM SO MUCH....
Hi Mr. Tyson do you happen to have the video footage of the last Hawkins Family recording that was recorded on Bellmark records “New Dawning”? No one in the family has a copy Bishop once had a copy but no one knows where it is now?

I love the Hawkins family, Love Center Choir Love Alive Album Series, Edwin Hawkins Singers and The Edwin's Music and Art's Seminar Mass Choir. Such a rich musical heritage.
I love that this uploaded 2 days ago. Stumbled on Walter months ago and been loving his music. Been curious about his life story. All praise to God 🙏💪❤️✝️
I love Tramaine and when I think of Hawkins Family I think most people always include Tramaine. On U Tube Walter did a tribute to Tramaine. The emotions and his heart in the tribute.
Walter still wrote songs for Tremaine after the divorce. Maybe since he covered over forty years in such a short documentary there wasn’t time. You must remember he passed away in 2011 at 61 years old. He accomplished so much in such a short period of time and touched so many souls globally. Hopefully the person who blessed us with this video will continue and will mention Tremaine, his other brother, Daniel, his other two sisters. Thank you for sharing this documentary we miss Bishop and Edwin. Gospel music legends!
Love this! Still a favorite gospel artist to this day! Thank you! #2024

Truly a blessing, you are so missed ❤
I was raised in church off of their music. I listen to his greatest hits CD to get in the mood for church on Sunday mornings.
Love alive is the greatest gospel album of all time. That’s just my opinion.
I wish that they were honored more. There were so many greats in the faith have contributed so much that were never honored properly.
I beleive their should be a full length play or movie about their lives that the church community should flock to as much as a Tyler perry play or movie.
Hawkins Family one of greatest, not just Gospel but any musical Families of our time.
What a beautiful voice !! It sounds like built in pipes! He don’t need music!!! Love his music!!

Wow. I can empathize. My Mom wouldn't let us listen to rap music. All music but rap was acceptable.
Thanks for always sharing great content Trevon 💜🖤

They were married to each other from 1971 to 1994 and had two children. I thought I saw her singing in Oh Happy Day on video. Perhaps not.
