Thanks for your review. With a few mods mine is OK for longer rides inc 1500 miles over a week in France last year. The mods are:- 1. Raise the gearing by 1 tooth extra on gearbox, 2 less on rear sprocket. - Amazingly the little 400 pulls this gearing with no problem for me at 65kg 2. A comfort seat from Ali Express. - purpose made for the Z400/Ninja 400 ( the original is very thin..... 3. Raise the bars 70mm and pull them back 35mm. - The throttle cables need rerouting to reach. 4. Fit a taller screen. A Versys 300 oversize screen can be made to fit Ali Express. - A hand made adapter bracket and 4 cotton reel mounts. 5. Handguards again from Ali Express. - Made for Honda NC750 but will fit Enjoy your rides
I have had my z400 for three years, I still love it and have no reason to replace it. I have had my license for over 25 years, so not a new rider. The best thing about the bike is its engine, it is very smooth and easy to control at slower speeds.
I have owned my z400 for about 3 years. I use it for daily commuting . Its a great real world bike which you can ride at normal traffic speeds unlike superbikes, of which, i have owned many. Cheap to run, and suprisingly it has power all the way through the rev range, so you dont need to thrash it. A great bike
Great review, as a user myself, I agree that this bike is made mainly for countryside roads and for cities. I definitely don't enjoy riding it on highway. Other than that, it is perfect for the money.
Nice review and ride. You were nonplussed by the many cows on the road. I laughed when you talked about the seat. I own a Z500 and obviously your experience applies to the newer model with some notable changes being the TFT / LCD display and the slightly higher displacement. Look forward to seeing more.
@@motography9737 nice review sir. here’s what I did to help fix the seat. If you take the seat off, you’ll notice that there is a bracket bolted in with two bolts towards the gas tank that holds the seat up. I went to a dollar store and surprisingly they had longer bolts that fit in perfect. What it is that you want to do is stick a couple washers maybe an inch or so and put in those longer bolts with the washers underneath the bracket.this will help lift the seat up. I also bought an Amazon seat and seat cover. After I put the seat cover on, I stuck a sponge between the seat and the seat cover right up front where your.” taint.” is. It works perfect. I am 63 years old and have been riding since the mid 70s. One thing that you did not mention that should be mentioned is the gas mileage on this little guy. I no longer have range anxiety. It took me 3 gallons to ride to Yosemite from Concord California. I was amazed. It’s the perfect bike if you’re not in a hurry.
@@karlfonner7589 Many thanks for stopping by, and that sounds like a great fix to the seat issue :) No issues with water getting under the seat or anything right? Also I'm glad you're enjoying the bike, ride safe!
Haha, I experience the same problems with my 2023 Z400... The footpegs are just way too centered on the bike, stabbing into your calves when you have your feet down. Another experience is the exhaust boot placement! I melted the bottom of my shoe and it left a permanent layer of melted rubber to my exhaust - how sporty!
I have the same year and color. Added some of the same stuff plus auxiliary lights and heated grips. Had a slip on that sounded good but robbed me of power. So off it went . Maybe I’ll give Kawasaki the money for their slip on
Show a full 28mm throttle twist and let people see how it rips like an R6, and the reality is that the bike is a 4 speed, 5th and 6th are like a double overdrive made for downhill riding, false neutrals and gears popping out come from not using the bike as a 4 speed, 4th gear 92mph is more then enough at half throttle.😃
yoooo nice video! Quick question, regarding the top box holder, how is it? I heard those types that bolt to the footpeg are dangerous because they bend and sometimes crack while on the highway. How is it? How heavy are the weights that it can handle?
Thanks brother! And the top box is pretty good, i don't think you'll have issues with it if you don't overload it. The manual mentions 4kg / 9lbs for Max weight. And also they say you should stick to 120km/h or 75Mph as top speed while having it installed, but so far so good for me. I have a video on the top case and side bags actually if you're interested.
z400 is such a great bike..way to under the radar for most of the people looking for a bike
I am glad you agree!
Thanks for your review.

Thanks a lot! And yes, it's great for certain things, definitely not for everything.

really nice and chill video man keep it up!
Thanks man!
Nice bike 👍
Great video keep up the good work and ride safe.
Many thanks! 🙏
Your video quality has gone up exponentially, I think I purchased my Z400 at the same time as you however mine now has 14,000km ;)
Sweet! Nice to hear you're really putting those kilometers in :)

It does look pretty cool, the Akra :)

Great video. What luggage rack and case is fitted? Looks good
Thanks! It's the Shad SH39 top case, with the bike specific mounting brackets from Shad as well.
How did you add padding to the seats? Did you do it yourself or buy them somewhere?
I went to a place that generally does car seats
Dude I could only find frame sliders where in the hell did you get those crash bars at? Nice video BTW mine is the Z500 tho
Really nice movie
Thank you and good luck...
We have the same bike! :)
I placed a higher windshield on mine though.. :)
Awesome! That's probably a good call because I can still feel lots of wind haha
