    Once I saw even worse than this, both shaft and bearing was ate up each other and drum was not turning at all, but luckily that was a metal tub washer so it was very easy to have a look at it

      @@bootsowen yes but it has stağnless steel tub and the bearşng housing was a different part that is attached to the drum, bearinga were not in the drum, so it was a kot easier. After putting new bearings machine kerp making a little bit noise. I may uplod the before and after videos. You can also check out my channel.

    We have one like this, failed after 5 years.
    I think the problem starts when the drum is filled above the bearing, the detergent washes the grease out and that leads to corrosion and a degeneration of the bearing.

    The worn ball bearing you showed, would perhaps indicate the machine was used for a long period of time after the failure began as the ball looked ground rather than fractured ? Hard to see as the parts are rusted. Maybe soak them in vinegar then we can study the failure.

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  3 года назад +3

      Hadn’t thought of the vinegar. The machine is already gone. I tend to smash and scrap the next day. Or in this case film and scrap! I suspect that this machine was in a rental house and just used to death!

      @@bootsowen we rightly complain about waste due to bad design & materials, & its ecological impact. Perhaps it should be studied & shown publicly to promote change by manufacturers & legislators ? A year's worth of effort by those who try, is negated by how many washing machines ?

    I've got the same machine with the same problem which is the same age. Makes a racket when it's spinning but still manages it. You can tell its on the way to copping out though. This along with the sealed drum suggests to me that the bearings are not built to last but they are built to break after a certain amount of time. They call it intrinsic obsolescence. If things didn't break then you wouldn't get the chance to sell more...
    As usual it's all about the money honey.
    As for your question it got louder and louder and louder and then bang...
    I'm about half way through the getting louder bit!!!
    ;)

    Indesit used to be good even in the late 90s, what happened? My paternal gran had an Indesit
    washing machine that only lasted 7 years then it was replaced with a Hotpoint Ultima which
    is basically an Indesit as Hotpoint are owned by Indesit. The Ultima is just over 7 years old
    and as far as I know it's still working surprisingly but I don't go there very often. Maybe I shouldn't
    speak too soon!
