The sun and the moon exist simultaneously and depend on each other as these two friends depended on each other. These two actors had great chemistry and were completely believable as two characters that grew up together, went their separate ways for their beliefs as to what their country should look like, but came back together in a common goal.

Imagine if he had married Yeon that’s the only plot this drama is missing if she didn’t die 😤😤 there’s no way he was that devoted to her after her death as a sister 😭 even if he was around other women or got everything he wanted would Yeon still be his soulmate or not?
I think they did that for the sake of the actress age gap between the actor. I think they didn't want to receive backlash if they were to do that. But I think the same as you, maybe he was just waiting for the right time but she got killed, cause the way he grieved her was too intense to be just "sisterly". He did say "I lost the only girl that truly liked me" so who knows 😊
