- Holy mother of onion god! This character have so much more and mechanic that it's twice as long as the others. But seriously, he look like a fun character to play. Eventhough he is Jack of all, Master of none type .

I remember Onion Knight being godly in Dissidia, he was my main. Too bad they nerfed him.
same man he was my main back in the day but i'm still gonna main him any way. xD

I didn't understand Onion's uniqueness at first, but now I know.
Onion is like a hybrid of Bartz and Cecil.
He needs to keep using one type of attack before he can promote to a better job (like Bartz),
and he can switch between a speed type and a shoot type to change roles in battle (like Cecil).
Full Burst can de-clutter ALL enemies close by. A freakin' omni-directional, mid-range HP attack!!! (One of my favorite looking attacks now)
Do not say he is short, or he will make you shorter.

If you say he is short, he will make sure you will be six feet under him.
What strikes me as interesting is that the Sage's special damage attribute actually encourages players to stay as far away from opponents as possible, and play the role of a mage who doesn't do well up close. If even one other spellcaster is on your team, I'm not sure why anyone would have any reason (whether it is a strategy or an enjoyable preference) to pick Sage over Ninja. Ninja just seems generally better than Sage, actually.
Depend on your play style, your teammate, and your opponent. If your team only have only have heavy or shoot type characters. Ninja is an obvious choice. Vice versa with Sage. But there are a lot more to that.
In my theory of weapons triangle. Speed beats Shoot, Shoot beats Heavy ,and Heavy beats Speed. As for Unique character like Onion. Who can change his job mid battle can be adapt to any type of match. While both of his job aren't as good as other character. He can still serve Speed and Shoot roles perfectly. Ninja while not as mobile as zidane or combo as good as Squall. His attack are still very fast with some combo potentcial. Sage's magic attacks are not as big as shantotto or have any special effect like Y'shota. The damage that change depend on range is perfect for snipe the opponent from afar(also meteor range in sage is ridicuious.)
So play him whatever you like. He's simple but effective. Or just go with Full brust and blow em up.
+Trueblade Seeker Now, I might be completely wrong about all this (so please take what I say with a grain of salt), but I think that the problem with your theory is that there is an attack priority system in the game. Heavy characters are generally at the top, while Shoot characters are generally at the bottom. Unless Shantotto is going super nuts, Shoot characters just don't have the moxy to stop any other character that manages to get in close. Firion is a baked in good match-up, but a WoL with level 3 Radiant Swords can effectively counter a lot of minor magic attacks, and force the Shoot character to waste time dodging or blocking. Cloud and Cecil will have some problems getting in too, but Cecil is part Speed and part Shoot as well, so he'll have an easier time.
The Sage may have a leg up on the other Shoot characters in this respect due to all of his attacks apparently possessing a high enough priority to cause flinching, and being able to move during all of his attacks. I suppose I shall rescind my complaints about the Sage for now, but I believe that there are still serious balance issues with the Shoot archetype as a whole right now.
Kindna forgot about Wol block move for minute ago. Onion knight is a part speed character to with short dash move.
I like your arguement that some heavy character have a couple attacks to deal with shoot character. But this is what I think (don't take it seriously).
Heavy character generally have attack set that cover range. But the majority of them are mid range gap closer ,and almost all of it have a pretty long start animation. Which for shoot character who mostly will keep their distance, can easily outrange and shot them. Sure heavy character have some block move. But only radiant sword really work.(firion's revenge of arms need to be counter and can also easily dodge anyway.) Not to mention, heavy character have a bad mobility. Sure shoot character aren't as fast as speed. But they can easily dash away from slow moving dude. And if they want to magic duel? Shoot character attacks are faster and some time they can move while casting. So they can easily win (except for radiant sword again)
Wol and Cecil in my opinion are probably the heavy character that can counter shoot type. Wol because well... Radiant sword. Cecil in paladin beacause he's part speed

so they removed all those annoying chain attacks from onion knight did they remove them all entirely?(i forgot the names but it's the ones that if you hit a bravery attack then changes to an HP attack
they removed all bravery to hp attack combos from this game. from playing the beta it would be really annoying to deal with.
You replaced the stats for Ultra Turbo Hit (Ninja neutral aerial) with the description for one of the magic attacks.
So if I understand correctly, you have to commit to 1 job before you are being allowed to switch it. Or are there commands that allow you to change job instantly?
Beside ''Job change''. Doesn't a HP attack reset the job to onion knight?
If he use Job Change Ex skill when he's onion knight. he will randomly become either Ninja or Sage.
Only Full Burst/ Spirit Surge reset his job to onion knight. (Also Death)
To me, whoever master Onion Knight, he is the most annoying opponent
Hey, I'm wondering why in the beta I couldn't cast the second consecutive spell shot, I mean, two blizzagas, two firas... did the beta remove the second cast?
They nerf that in the arcade a long time ago.
Ehh~ he becomes permanent ninja or sage but the range moveset becomes limited...
I kinda like using OK combing pa and ma most of the time too~ he got kinda harder to use lol~

ah damn...they make onion knight considerably weaker in this dissidia. what he lacks in range and damage when it comes to melee is supplemented with a barrage of combos and chain to hp attack...attack. And his class change is also strong. Can easily beat every ff char in past dissidia games be it AI at any difficulty or player controlled...INCLUDING SEPHI. THIS onion knight however's going to have a hard time to get used too...
not to mention if you die , you need to restart from OK again. Full Burst also has same effect , although you could be either ninja and sage more faster.

Onion Knight won't fire off his neutrals twice like in the video, only fire once then stop no matter how many times I press the button in Sage. What's with that?
They remove second firaga and blizzaga about year ago in arcade.
