Hello Susie, Our beautiful fairy Hungarian. Paganda ka ng paganda suerte namin nagustuhan mo rito magaling din mag alaga ang future husband mo. God bless you both may live happily ever after. 😍❤️❤️😍❤️👍👍👍🤩. I love you both of dudes. Ingat kayo palagi.
The way i understand it is that best man is for the groom, while maid of honor is for the bride. Secondary sponsors are those tasks with veil, candle and cord. All others are bridesmaids and groomsmen. Of course, there are also the ringbearer and flowergirls.
Susie/Jonathan, I’ve been watching and enjoying your videos but not a subscriber until I found out that Jonathan was from Cabanatuan City (a fellow Nuevo Ecijano), I’m from Cabiao. I enjoyed watching not just your tour around NE since I’ve been away since 1975 but almost every videos you guys posted…Good Luck & God Bless to you both!!!
I'm glad you experienced a wedding event for the first time in the Philippines. It's a bit different than how Americans celebrate it here. Everyone looks great. Pixar is the star.
Nice event Mam! That place is really a refreshing beautiful nature. Seems its a farm and the one caught my eyes is the fresh windy air!!!!! Blue color made your beauty stand more!!!!!😂😂😂😂
Not done watching, but…I KNOW I KNOW lol lol. I’m only a few minutes in, but in USA & I thought also in Phil weddings. But maid or matron (if the lady is married), of honor is the term for the bridal attendant in a higher rank so to speak. She traditionally has more responsibilities for preparation & wedding day, too. Though seems like those etiquettes aren’t as followed anymore necessarily.
P.s. Mabuhay! Congrats to the family & groom, & best wishes to the bride! Beautiful wedding, the groom looked SO happy, always sweet to see a groom like that. The bride looked gorgeous in her dress as did her mom & all the fam. Jonathan’s Lola brought a tear to my eye. You are really blessed, Susie, with so much love. You reap what you sow, becoz you are such a lovely person, we all think so here in your vlogosphere. But no matter how good & loving any1 tries to be, to be loved is always such a somehow surprising & incredible gift, isn’t it? I am impressed becoz imo Philippine grandparents don’t throw around “fave” label easily! 😯🤩You did great as a bridesmaid, Maid of honor?, & also a candle sponsor. That’s a lotta positions for your first wedding participation & attendance! Jumped in the deep end. You did great which is good coz all those kids you mentioned who are grown now will start getting wed….so save your gowns & heels & for future wedding photos remember hair up or bun hairstyles or lotsa hairspray…or both.
& yet more wedding musings, all my personal experience, I’m not a professional sociologist, lol! it was interesting to hear that Hungarians also have the “money dance” tradition. That is not a typical American wedding tradition. To me, the USA & Phil both utilize bridesmaids & groomsmen, Maid/Matron of Honor, Bestman, and other attendants such as ushers/greeters, lectors (for Scripture or secular readings ie poetry), ring bearer, flower girl & some but not all ALSO have a “miniature bride & groom” for childrens’ roles. In my experience, usually all these folks are similar age to the couple, except for the kid roles of course. The lighting of candle ceremony isn’t in all USA weddings, though many church ones seem to have it in recent decades. The Philippine wedding to me ALWAYS traditionally had the “extra” (compared to USA) ceremonies of candle, cord, veil & arrhae. The Godparents (Ninong/Ninang) or Sponsors of these 4 ceremonies were usually a man & woman, perhaps a couple in life but not always, & they were often older than the wedding couple ie friends of parents or uncle/aunt types. These 4 “extra” ceremonies are found in other countries, not all catholic though many ie Spain. Greece has similar “extra” (compared to USA -my baseline) ceremonies that remind me of Philippine cord & veil, the Greek crown placement with links or cords between the couple, @ their weddings….Most Americans love to watch the Phil weddings with all the ceremonies, there are beautiful scripture & verses associated with each ceremony, too. But the drawback if one is in a hurry, us that all this with probably a Mass too, makes for a long wedding. But not as long as Indian weddings! Lol
& how could I forget singers! Cantors & musicians. Maybe not formal wedding party members exactly, but with Filipinos, probably related (at least here in USA).
OG there are supposed to be 4 For the bride Maid of honor And 3 bride' s maids who will bring: Candle, cord and veil for the bride. For the groom Best man 3 grooms men Candle, cord and veil for the groom. These bride's maids and grooms men are usually the people closest to the bride and groom, however to acoomodate other important friend and relatives, they add.
The tradition in the Philippines for the "Money Dance" is that, anybody who dances with the bride or groom will pin an x amount of money on their gown or suit. I read in one culture in Europe, I'm not sure where, any gentleman can kiss the bride on the cheek for a small amount, and on the lips for a bigger amount. I would be interested to know how is it done in your culture? Please share.
The bridegroom has one best man, but it's up to the groom of how many he wants and the bride has one Maid of honour and the rest are bridesmaid. Then the little girls are the Flower girls and the boys, one carry the bible, the other carry the wedding rings.
Philippine weddings are influenced by US wedding customs. Which is why there's a "Maid of Honor" among other bridesmaids, the direct female equivalent of the "Bestman" among the groomsmen. Both groomsmen and bridesmads are collectively called "Abay" (which literally means "they who stand/sit/lie/walk close to one another", in the sense of "guide", "escort", or "companion"). I think the direct English translation would be "entourage". In the UK and Europe, normally there is no maid of honor, all bridesmaids are the same rank. But yeah, other than that and some unique traditions (like the pinning of money on the married couple), the weddings here are basically identical to western countries. Mostly American-influenced, given that we're a former American colony.
Yes that's how I knew it! That all bridesmades are the same. I also don't think in Europe they have specific "jobs" like here with the candle and veil etc. Thank you for explaining ☺️
Others expressed their opinion about an entire country & culture, & as I have maternal links to the culture though not born there, I decided, to express too! Though this has NOTHING really to do with Susie’s lovely vlog, so sorry for that Susie. It wasn’t too long ago at all, I’m talking our grandparents & even current generations in certain communities, that in rural areas esp farming communities of much of USA, families were consistently OVER 6 children. Yet they were not even close to be considered poor. Certainly some large families cannot support themselves, & in Phil & other cultures sometimes children would be informally adopted by aunts/uncles or other relatives to lighten the financial load on parents. Or in more tragic & dire situations, people would abandon or even sell children. That still happens worldwide. But many large families actually benefitted each other financially, yes it is true! & not even rare. Poverty is a multi factorial systemic issue, the least of which involves the size of a family unit.
Its nice to see Susie adapt to our Filipino culture, when she reached her hand out and made "mano" to Jonathan's relatives.
🇭🇺❤️🇵🇭

That's really cool! I lived in Nueva Ecija for many years so many beautiful places in the area!!
The partner of the best man is called Maid of Honor. The other girls are called bridesmaids. ✅
So American to have maid of honour. Western countries they just have brides maids that's all
ABAY in general are members of the wedding entourage
In your case you are abay na babae ( bridesmaid)
Groomsmen are abay na lalake
Pretty wedding! Glad you experienced it 1st here in the Philippines. 😍❤️😍❤️
I'm glad also it was the best experience 🥰
Money dance when guests pins money to the dancing couple a tradition that s always been one of the highlights to a wedding

I'm glad you experienced a wedding event for the first time in the Philippines. It's a bit different than how Americans celebrate it here. Everyone looks great. Pixar is the star.

Oh I see! I guess it was like that too she had her lady of honor that we called the "main bridesmaid". ☺️
P.s. Mabuhay! Congrats to the family & groom, & best wishes to the bride! Beautiful wedding, the groom looked SO happy, always sweet to see a groom like that. P.s. #2. I forgot the gown is rented, good planning. But if shoes are yours you can dye them if you’re a bridesmaid in future.

Hi Susie, the two puppies very happy with you, it looks they know you from before!!😀
They always hang out in our place 😊❤️
Gratulalok!
You can still have a big church wedding if you want. hehehe.
All are called Wedding entourage, in Filipino called Abay.
If you're an abay that means you are one of the secondary sponsors coz the primary sponsors are the ninong and ninangs
"Abay" is the equivalent of the Maid-of-Honor in the West.
I enjoyed this vlog 💙 it was a beautiful wedding and super interesting to watch. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience with us 🥰
Thank you so much for watching ☺️
You'll be very very pretty in a wedding dress.

That's why there are many poor people in the Philippines. Family's of 6, 7 or 8 are unsustainable
Poor but happy
