I’ve actually recently played and beaten the Mafia remake once more. And I can definitely see as for why that Tommy is quite the character in the Mafia series. Especially since he had once heck of a career with the Salieri Crime Family from beating up hoodlums, to racing cars, to assassinating politicians and rival gang leaders. Now yes his death at the end was a little somber, but it was also a reminder that sometimes we have to deal with the consequences of our actions… especially in the mafia life. Original mafia was amazing when it came out. The story and the game play are still one of the best it was just like a movie. What year did this come out early 2000s?
So many grown-ups have been affected by these types of stories and experiences and living in the fantasy of what a true man is just to satisfy their sad and painful past.
I literally just finished this game, and I loved it! My only real criticism is that I wish we saw more of the relationship between Tommy, Sarah, and their daughter.
The original Mafia was one of my first videos games ever. I was maybe 3 or 4 and played it on my dad's computer and I've gone back to replay it almost every year for nostalgia. I know this games story so well so as soon as the cut scene in the kitchen began and Tommy was saying he was gonna go over to Paulies I had a chill in my spine and a tear in my eye and was like oh god I know where this is going...
Tommy's morality is pretty straightforward imo. If you're an associate of a family, you've chosen the life and you're fair game. If you're a criminal, you're fair game. I think the reason he struggled with the guy in the car was specifically because the dude was making eye contact and pleading for his life. I don't think Tommy hated the guy enough to kill him so coldly.
Tommy isnt a bad man, He’s not a ruthless killer hes a man forced into a life, but his mistake was deciding to stay involved in this life. This remake made me dislike Vito. I already knew we killed Tommy but they made Tommy well written you forget hed rat.
Having never played the original game as I was like 8 when it came out. And playing the series backwards. Tommy's story closely mirrors vito to a degree. But hits so much harder. Just man who wanted something better. And in the end accepted his fate.
Come to think of it, Tommy is the least tragic of the 3 Protagonists. The only tragedy he had was the death of his best friends Paulie and Sam. Meanwhile Vito has horrors from wars, his sister abandoning him, his best friend leaving him, his house burnt up. And he most likely died alone. Clay also had war horrors, along with his family being killed. The leave ending is most likely canon, so he didn't even get a spot in the world.
I love Mafia games. All 3 games have something. The 3rd one was a bad optimized game but i love the story. I just hope Mafia 4 that its been rumored to be in the works keep the good job.
I only wish that they didn't change Tommy's monologue at the end. The original was so much more profoun and had something to think about philosophically where as the remake just has some cliche "family is everything" crap.
I like how the Story for Thomas "Tommy" de Angelo is, but I do think it would be Cool to see Tommy become Capo or Under boss & who knows Boss of his own Family in spin off what if Story, I also think Tommy & sarah s family also would grow & its not impossible for him to Succed Saliari as a boss, as Frank even says neither Paulie or Sam was grasp for higher pose in the Salieri Crime family. But it would have meant either killing Frank or Saving him before being made a kill target, killing the Prostitute..to make up for these things.
@jeangentry6656 Well said, no Tommy isn't a hero, he's an antihero, and yes, a sympathetic protagonist. I never thought he was one, but I did believe he had a conscience and his own moral code inside the outfit. @@MrPurple656 there were no cut missions but they removed a lot of things from missions to make it more fast paced. Like in the mission you lucky bastard. @@MrPurple656 There were multiple things that can go wrong depending on your doing in the assassinations of those politicans, here they are more linear. Morello had different deaths but they kept only one in the remake, and you try to kill his brother multiple times. Frank's escape was different and way better in the original. Also Frank was killed because that chick was dumb enough to return to the city, not the other way around (no idea why they changed that). Extreme ride - an entire gamemode was removed. You actually had to prepare the bank heist. And the mission with cigars was different and there were no drugs involved. Lucas also had several side missons for you that would unlock special cars, which were replaced by some sort of scavenger hunt with pictures of cars. Pretty much only cut missions are those from Lucas, the rest are just barebones versions of the original. Original is like a real event, remake is like when Hollywood makes a movie about it.

that last part about the politician helping to get women vote is so dumb when majority of women didnt want to be able to vote back then and repeatedly voted against such changes.
I didn’t know why they added that to the plot even original had that mission , I get they want to show how the world was in the 30s? But what has that do to with Tommy story and salieri family realistically, the game is a masterpiece regardless but that is the only mission that felt pointless it was like running out of ideas after morello died, they could have that as a side mission or have that early in the game would fit more, I don’t remember much but the politician was working with Morello somehow that’s why.
@@messii648 In the original that politician intended to go after the family. He was a threat to their business which is why they had him killed. The first politician that you kill on the ship was working with Morello, because Tom and Paulie killed his son. That part about voting was added in the remake, they rewrote quite a few things and pretty much destroyed their meanings, like Sam's death for instance. In remake he was a coward serving his own needs till the end, he even tried to bargain for his life. In the original he was a loyal soldier who died with his convictions intact.
because i was in first place happy about the fact I was going to win and then BAM I hit a corner and everyone passed me while i was getting my shitty car back on the road 😔 I raged and then deleted it because why would you put a random fucking racing mission in the game that has absolutely nothing to do with racing
Unfortunately if they made a movie or TV show (Yes I know a lot of Mafia theme shit exists) these days it would be sprinkled with the woke liberal bullshit that would just spoil it
Mafia Definitive Edition is the worst remake ever. Top three worst stuff about it: 3: script was changed, that means cutscenes and all... Including 1 2: Even though the original voice actors were almost every single one of them alive and still sound the same, (only one of them died of old age) they just forgot about them and hired some guys that you hear in every movie dabing ever. They sound *absolutely* different. By the way I'm talking about the Czech. 1: lines. Just... Lines. How the fuck do you even fuck up that bad and do these three unforgivable mistakes. The gameplay being way worse because of newer generations is a big thumbs down but at least forgivable but how do you fuck up *THAT* bad and completely fuck up what the players expected, wanted and needed from you?! It was literally right there! I would leave Rockstar to remake it at this point. Fuck these 🤬🤬🤬🖕.
When Sam said Paulie’s name and Tommy took his shots into him. I immediately thought “don’t you talk about my brother you rat.” Man, Paulie was my boi who had my back. It was sad how he went out, didn’t even have a chance and got betrayed by his own brother.
Would be interesting to play a new Mafia game as one of Tommy’s sons or grandsons seeking vengeance. The player would be going after Don Salieri and whoever else was involved by infiltrating their organization in order to eliminate them and clean house. On the way up to become a Made Man, Joe Barbaro would become one of your mentors showing you the ropes. Joe might have suspicions but would have no idea who you actually were and what you were really up to. At then some point motivations might change and revelations would be made. You’d take out Don Salieri and maybe Leo Galante but your life would be changed forever and your character might even find that he likes being in that life.
Unlikely. 1. Tommy most likely taught his son to not go down that path. 2. Salieri and Vinci were good friends and Joe by the end of Mafia 3 was working for Vinci.

Max Payne 3
Mafia
IN ORDER ! 🤣
that last part about the politician helping to get women vote is so dumb when majority of women didnt want to be able to vote back then and repeatedly voted against such changes.
11:55 its the wrong cutscene
quick tip consigliere is pronounced with a more softer G
The voices were much better in the original
3:07 what?
I tried to play mafia one, but of course, they needed to add a racing mission into the game that isn't about racing. i couldn't pass it
It took me 3 days to get past that level if it wasnt for that mission I would replay the game
why couldn’t you pass it?
because i was in first place happy about the fact I was going to win and then BAM I hit a corner and everyone passed me while i was getting my shitty car back on the road 😔 I raged and then deleted it because why would you put a random fucking racing mission in the game that has absolutely nothing to do with racing
I’ve not watched video but by snitching is how he took them out bye.
Team Vito!
I love Vito but Tommy is a better protagonist
- To RAT
Terrible gameplay but the story is gorgeous
Yea, about sums up all the games really
I agree but honestly I enjoy some it the missions so much I got over it. Crème de le creme, the boat mission, and the barn shootout where Great imo
Unfortunately if they made a movie or TV show (Yes I know a lot of Mafia theme shit exists) these days it would be sprinkled with the woke liberal bullshit that would just spoil it
Mafia Definitive Edition is the worst remake ever.
Top three worst stuff about it:
3: script was changed, that means cutscenes and all... Including 1
2: Even though the original voice actors were almost every single one of them alive and still sound the same, (only one of them died of old age) they just forgot about them and hired some guys that you hear in every movie dabing ever.
Glad you didn't have any say in the remake.
Please do more Mafia videos this one was great
But you Vito Karen this town someday
Why this best main character dies?
Don Salary is quite something
When Sam said Paulie’s name and Tommy took his shots into him. I immediately thought “don’t you talk about my brother you rat.”
Man, Paulie was my boi who had my back.
Tommy reminds me of myself great story
