For the safety reason, I totally agree with you, but the everyday lives of Japanese people is immensely stressful. Cruelly high expectations which may be a cause of the need to escape like this.

Try living on super basic for one month..eat very little..unplug majority off you appliances.. spend some time hungry without eating and sit in the garden an night or anywhere quiet as often as you can..delete all social media and learn too do new things just small things even new recipes..grow some plants anything you fancy..n remember the people around you are not gonna be there forever and one day they won't have you...if any off that is possible try it..cheers
