Hey Will, (I think that's your name mate) =D ! Is it possible to have the full version of this song? So I can listen to it in my music library from time to time. That would extremely appreciated, I've listened to this tutorial video so many times just in order to have a re-listen of "the complete parts of the whole song, but it's only like a sample of the entire song". cheers mate
Sometimes, it's really helpful to see a great example of someone's process even to imitate another artist because it really helps you fix/fill in many of your own tendencies. I appreciate this video. 100% Subscribing right now.
the chords are written in A minor and they are VI-i-VII. but your approach to tweak a random chord progression in order to sound better is more efficient for a beginner who doesn't know any music theory. good job!
I think I learned more useful music theory from a couple of your videos than I did in years of playing/learning before this. Most other vids I come across are just basic scales or intervals, but not how to apply them in a musical way. Thank you!!
Will your lessons are amazing simple and clear, I used to spend thousand of euros buying courses and never been satisfied, Thank you very much for your help appreciated that.
Hey will, it would be cool for you to break down the synth set up a bit more. I paused the video and set up everything like I saw it but had no luck in reproducing the sound.
thank you so much for this!! is there a full version of this song?! its a banger! you captured that nostalgic feeling I get with deadmou5's music, great work!
@@EDMTips I just put this out. I am working on different styles, I hope you like. Thanks for your help. I will continue to work on music. Awesome thanks again...ruclips.net/video/VCBe95R7QAw/видео.html
Is it a bad thing if I want to start making music similar to deadmau5? I absolutely love his EDM style. I like all sorts of EDM artists, but imo deadmau5 has that more real edm vibe. I dont want to mock him, or steal his work. If I were to create my own melodys, and progressions that sound like his style...is that ok?
Great question. The best way to start out (in my opinion,) is trying to achieve a sound you like of an existing artist. You'll naturally add your own twist, and after a time, develop your own style. So....copy away, my friend!
@@EDMTips thank you for answering!! Deadmau5 is the reason I got into edm music and why I wanted to create music. I just got a keyboard a few days ago, and finally watched along with your video last night. I've been able to put something neat together. I loved that video and will sub!
I downloaded his Midi pack off Splice and didn't notice that but did notice that when each chord is played it'll start in odd places. I know he uses them but you should get his midi pack and see because it definitely sounds like it's polymeter.
I see that you love what you are doing, you are always very excited explaining the videos ... do you have your own tracks? sorry for the english i'm brazilian
I do, but I don't produce that much of my own stuff at the moment as I focus on EDM Tips! I do have a track coming out on Applique Records very soon, though
AGAIN amazing. I am curious could you explain the macro know: Assigning a macro knob to the filter frequency cutoff, and the amp sustain and release PLEASE :-) #thanks
I like the style, I have a question. How u copyright this "idea". I mean any can come, copy this melody, sounds etc. and try to sell etc. ? best regards! Iam new in Ableton, i try follow all steps u show, in 2 days my first thing is done ^
Really awesome tutorial dude, channel is full of awesome resources! Dude btw i have a question if you dont mind please? When you were writing the chords you said you were going write in F major scale, But when you were correcting the "funny" chords you moved the 3rd an semitone up the note went from A# to A. Since A is not in the notes you wrote under the F major scale, is it considered as out of key? It obviously sounds really nice but I have that little doubt lingering in my head!
It's fine to use chords from outside their key. The simplest way is to experiment with changing the third of a chord from major to minor (or vice versa)
Hey brotha I’m new to the game and wanted to know : is there specific gear like a mixing board/turn table set up or keyboard setup I need? Or any specific software? Thanks in advance!
Hey mate what instrument did you choose for the chords right off the bat when you started this? I know it’s F but what area in Live did you go to get the piano and that sound?Maybe I missed it! I”m new lol. Cheers
Okay, but this sounds like something he would make nowadays. What about the majority of oldschool electro house stuff he used to make 10 to 15 years ago? I wanna know how that's made, like A City In Florida, Maths, The Reward is Cheese, etc.
Super stupid question, but I've downloaded the Cymatics samples but they're all in Audio format. Any way to get them into a MIDI channel format, like in your first two channels in the vid?
Cool! Around 2.50 you made a triad within the correct key, yet still it sounds funny. Then you switched the middle note of the triad up to make it major... I've come across similar things myself, every now and then and thought I did something completely wrong... So this does seem to occur every now and then?
Very nice one. And I am wondering how much time it would be needed for someone without any knowledge of music production to be able to make similar sounds, like this "basic"s Deadmau5 or Dinka for example. I always wanted to try to make one, since I'm 20. I'm now 35.
Try a chord building program like Odesi or Captin Chords I use both and know music theory, it's just a tool. They have chord progression presets of common progressions and it'll teach you functional harmony in the process. I've at it for years and still suck at sound design so I buy presets for serum.
So the actual overall sound of the video as a whole, sounds processed, almost like everything is wrapped in this mastered type element. That's the part I can never get right. My music sounds great, but it doesn't have this "mastered encapsulation sound" when I'm done. Not sure if anyone knows what I'm talking about, but I would love to know how to get it right.
Definitely appreciate this, but your other vids were more comprehensive and because of that more unique in this space (and better). This just felt rushed and I came away feeling like I was missing critical pieces. (I figure you also got that given this is a year old and I’m comparing it to your newer vids, but just wanted to leave some feedback... basically take this as positive feedback on your newer stuff! 😄)
I can't say that those chord tips are that good to make more complex chords... to really be able to do go good chord structure that continues to be interesting and not just major and minor chords with 7ths slapped at the end of them, you need to learn about how they work, and what works well.
