The red threads are threads of Fate which are keeping them apart, the Fate decreed by the curse. They beat the curse and Fate so are united again. Yoohyeon is whole again and not split into her good and bad halves. The shot of her split images coming together indicates that. The final scene always reminds me of the old American hymn, 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken', which refers to loved ones being reunited in Heaven. The girls are not alive so their best outcome is to ascend to Heaven where they can wait to be born into their next life according to Korean tradition. The ghost hunter wanted to catch the girls and keep them captive for his own amusement. The Intro to the album containing Good Night is called My Toys. He was a bad man.
Every one of the title tracks came from albums full of great songs and a lot of them have music videos they call special clips. Those MV's will show you the many sides of Dreamcatcher. The first two albums only had one song each besides the title track. These are those MV's ruclips.net/video/5ST_EJBhwO4/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/rSq1URfEEC8/видео.html

According to interviews with the members (was SuA the first to mention it?), "Breaking Out" IS the "official" end to the Nightmare Series, not an "alternate ending" as so many people seem to believe. However, although the Japanese ceased their occupation of Korea back in 1945, broadcasting Japanese media was, if not completely banned, highly discouraged by the "powers that be" at that time. This led to Dreamcatcher not getting much traction with this song at home. It was pretty popular overseas and in the "underground", though.

yeah for their japanese releases, they signed with a japanese label. there's only a few japanese songs and they didn't really put too much effort in that market as you can tell from the budget of this mv lol. from about after this time in their discography, they really picked it up in video production. they are from a small company and you have to remember dreamcatcher is their 2nd chance from failure so they didn't really have that much to work with. rumor has it the ceo basically leveraged everything for the dystopia trilogy so you can really tell the difference in mv budget.
the red string of fate is in many asian cultures a symbol of destiny between two people, usually used in marriage. like I mentioned previous, the last 3 including breaking out don't really add that much to the main plot other than they are trying to get out of the nightmare universe. I guess you can say here that they are separated by fate but fate is what you make lol so you have to find your own way in life, a recurring theme in many of their songs. some of the themes and imagery in the nightmare series is really abstract so you can interpret it a number of ways. I think they got the message how many fans were confused so started from the dystopia trilogy(jan 2020+) most of their songs have straightforward lyrics.
if you are going in release order, deja vu would be next and is a stand alone song you might want to do before the apocalypse trilogy. it's also a good song to do a double feature reaction if you want to add the acoustic live version - ruclips.net/video/AGFDNVfM0C4/видео.html.

Breaking out is considered to be an alternative ending to the Nightmare arc, because the girls are not only together, but Yoohyeon is complete again (there is a scene where two Yoohyeons turn into one). Of their Japanese releases, this is the least heavy in my book (which is not a bad thing). Also, JiU really lets her hair down here. 😉

People only say alternate because they can't abide the series ending in Japanese.
