i cannot tell you how helpful this was to me today, been scoring in logic for so long but made a switch to cubase because i'm using a pc. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I gotta say, it was a fantastic idea starting a youtube channel. You got everything you need to be successful with your channel. It's just a matter of time and those subscriber numbers will shoot up. And this is coming from someone who's watching your channel for the first time. You can instantly acknowlede the amazing content! Stay safe.
Thank you for this very good explanation. Simple to understand and comprehensible, even for non Englishman like me. One of the best tutorials I´ve found.
This tutorial helped me a lot! Thanks Alvin! I am planning to score a timelapse vid of my daughter from birth up to her 5th birthday. I’m using Cubase Pro 10.5 and planning to use some Spitfire Originals Felt Piano and the new Cinematic Pads.
it probably starts at four seconds because it’s expecting a two pop. often film editors will deliver the file with a countdown from 4 with an audible pop on the two second mark at the beginning and end of the film to ensure easy sync between various departments of post production. so usually the clip will start at 00:56:00:00 with the first frame of action on 01:00:00:00
thanks for sharing that introduction! i'm about to sync my first video, perfect video not to spend hours desperately looking for hot to do it. thanks! btw: cubase elements 12 has an "add marker" hotkey for 9 markers - if you're in the marker track, click CMD+1-9 and you're set. that at least works for my short clip that i'm syncing.
Alvin have you noticed that if a video comes in at 23.98fps, and you trim it to first frame than move your first frame to your bar 5 set at 01:00:00:00 - go one frame earlier than bar 5 and then back up to bar 5 it doesn't actually go back to 5 but rather back to 5.1.1.7? Not sure why that is, but the problem is that if you trim the video to first frame and then move what you think is first frame to bar 5 you will see black not the first frame even though the TC reads 01:00:00:00 there... so weird its like setting 1 hour in TC to bar 5 isn't really doing that - its really 7 ticks off. The only way I've noticed that everything stays right is if the video is at 24 fps.
Since you use Showtime code, you have the option to have it started by one. If the time code is burnt in I’m assuming you’re locked into where it starts. Or could you also said that bar one?
@@AlvinSWongMusic you're welcome Alvin. If you can and if you have time, make a video about how to make the template in cubase in the most correct way. I used to be from logic but I went to cubase a long time ago and I notice a big difference in everythin galthough logic is after cubase I think the best Daw. A pleasure and don't forget to do that only if you have time.
I have just downloaded Cubase LE yesterday. There is no 23.976fps option and clicking "Get frame rate from video" doesn't help. Also in 'Devices' there is no option to tick for timecode. Dunno if they're just not available in the 'LE' version but they're not there anymore. Also something missed here that took me all day to work out because no one seems to think it's important. Your video will not play smoothly if you go over 9OO pixels wide. It will also not play DNxHD footage without a paid plug in that costs £25. I used a MP4 9OOx374 aspect ratio because thats a 2.4O:1 ratio scaled down from my 1O8OX8OO final output. It also requires LLC audio. 'At least thats what worked for me'. It seems to have a problem as soon as you go over the 1OOO pixels threshold. Dunno why. Now everything works as it should. I just set it up as a preset in my video editing software so I don't have to deal with this issue anymore. And after spending all day trying to get the audio in cubase to just work, I saved that as a template as well. Happy Days!!
Ladislav, I would suggest checking the video format specifications against your Cubase version. The Cubase support site should have a page describing what will work. e.g. helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/115000808250-Video-support-in-Nuendo-Cubase-WaveLab-and-Dorico#video_formats Unfortunately not every video type will load. You might need to convert first with another tool like Davinci Resolve for example which is free or I've heard others use handbrake.
For the 4 second thing, is it possible that 2 bars at whatever tempo you have set equals 4 seconds and the order that you do things makes it show that way? I can't do the math because I can't see your tempo, but that might be it. If you are at the default tempo of 120 then two bars = 4 seconds. I dunno, maybe?
I guess a lot of these features aren't available in Cubase Elements. That's a shame because I won't be able to upgrade for awhile. Great video nonetheless, and I'll definitely keep this video on hand to go back to!
Could it be an unsupported video format you’re trying? This thread looks like it might have some hints for you? forums.steinberg.net/t/unable-to-import-video-cubase-10-5/145968

@@AlvinSWongMusic Thanks for the reply. You are right. Although the file was mp4/h.264 there was something else that was causing issues that was beyond my understanding. It was codec related. I ended up downloaded Avid Media Composer (free edition) as suggested by the Steinberg Manual, as it's preset file converter was what I needed, and once I converted it and uploaded it back into Cubase it was fine.
Hi, Thanks for sharing it. However in my Cubase Artist 11 the 4k video that plays even in my Windows media player will freeze on the video player screen in Cubase (F8 key shortcut) . That makes Cubase completely useless for the purpose of editing videos. I have a powerful PC, 2 xeon 6-cores (12 logical cores) 32 GB RAM and NVIDIA 510 video card. As a musician, I can record audio alright, but as a trucker trying to upload his work Cubase is not the right tool, as it seems. I will not buy Nuendo just to upload day-job videos. Shame!
Best Introduction video for scoring with Cubase I've found yet!
Thank you so much!
I agree with you!!!

Thank you very much, I use Nuendo 12 and when I export the video loss quality, I do the same with Studio one 5 and the video export perfect?
I feel like this is an eBay review, but it was just what I needed, thank you 😀
Hehe thanks Phillip! I’ll take it. Cheers.
it is so helpful, LOVE U!
Amazing tutorial. I wish you could explain a bit more how the video would follow time warp changes ( especially tempo ramps) on the tempo track.
Maybe this one by the great Dom Sigalas: ruclips.net/video/qzPMZyWib94/видео.html. You welcome 😉
do i understand right? in cubase 12 pro i can put my own audio and video and sync ?

How do I keep the video from moving when changing tempo changes

can i add fonts on videos?
also can i contrast, sharpness ectvto videos
No, you would need to use another specific video editing software for that like DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere. DaVinci is free btw 😉.
My Marker is not Showing in Full Screen, its like you, mine is only in Marker track, how can i setup my marker from track to bottom 🙄
thx

I am exporting the video in cubase 10.5 but each time I export the entire video, the contrast of the vid turns blue. How do I fix it?
Whoa haven’t heard of that before. Sorry, I don’t know how to resolve that.
Hi, I got Cubase Pro 10.5, when I try to import a video it do not import anything . Any suggestions?

Check the frame height and width of the video the one that plays in your system should be the one you request from the editor
