I have watched this movie maybe 20 times now-never get tired of it. Brilliant. But I didn't realise just how important Roy Budd;s score was...until now. This guy was a genius. His music captures the menace of the movie....the feel of the late 60s/early 70s...the grittiness of Newcastle Upon Tyne in those days. What a shame he died so young.
A great classic tune from this cult british polar, a great musical and cinematographic period from the 70's with Don Ellis, Lalo Schifrin, Quincy Jones, David Shire, etc. I really love it !
I usually hate these remixes because you can hear the disparity between the original and what has been added. This works really well, nice syncopation a bit like Joe Morello. Nice!
This just got better, thank you for posting it! I would just like to add that the film is a masterpiece, of British Cinema, but the book is better. I am biased!
Oh, I like this; fine drumming! Perhaps, though, for another part of the fil-um (as Glenda would say). I like the original better where it is, in the opening credits.

Drum and bass, like it was meant to be. Gotta love this.
PROPER!
Oh man, the drumming on this is superb. Such funky precision with those snare rolls
My word, this is SUPERB. A great piece given a brilliant interpretation. The drummer is amazing.
Can't help picturing John Thompson's 'Jazz Club' presenter looking into the camera and giving a slow nod of approval.
"Nice".
Martin Brody lol
'Next up, the Bracknell Archery Club.'
“Hmmmm.....cool”
John Thompson’s ‘Jazz Club’ character was called Louis Balfour. I never absorbed that, so had to look it up.
Greeeaaaaatttt! 😉

......Roy Budd meets Lalo Schrifin!!
2 of the best in business. Hands down
I have Lalo's autograph
One of my favourite films, never get sick of the sound track and your version is great!
Need me some Roy Budd - Get Carter right now! 😎
Excellent Bad Ass. Chris Karan on Drums!
Got a real B-boy feel to it with the drum breaks - fantastic alternative to the amazing original!
Pint of bitter please, in a thin glass....
I think this is the one Craig Charles played on his 6 Music show on Jan 30th 2010. Tis fantastic.
this is my uncle
Awsome Chris, he did loads of good stuff. Did you get to know Keith Mansfield or Alan Hawkshaw - two other legends?
Christopher Budd Hi Chris. Roy was my cousin, so where are you in the tree?
Your uncle was a musical genius.
An honor
Hope your super proud..!! He was excellent and meticulous, real shame he passed so young.!
This is exciting. Great drumming (not to mention the wonderful Roy).
Classic tune , classic film
man sounds like a good soild 70,s drum groove damm good drumming man,
of course its awesome, my cousin Roy wrote it! :)
Without doubt one of the best themes to a movie. I prefer the original but a very Nice version with the added drums.
you cannot forget its great to the ear
Chris Karan certainly knew how to hit those skins. :)
70's Britain
Britain died soon after.
Amazing drumming
Love the drum mix.

One of my favourite theme tunes ever. but this is easily as good as the original ! The drummer, Chris is it ? awesome!!
Chris Karan, who also played with the Dudley Moore trio.
God this couldn't possibly be any better

What a tune!!!!
Try the theme of The Long Good Friday as Harold Shand enters Heathrow...
Tried to find this on spotify to add to a playlist but couldn't find this version..bummer. I guess that's why it says unreleased.
God I love This.
Simply brilliant!
it's beautiful, mate!

Badass bassline
This is AWESOME...
@johnafirth did you see Craid Charles play a set at the Bloomsbury Bowling Alley per cance, sorry I missed that...
Thats nasty. Great job
sickkk tune, sickk mix.
Muscians having fun .. BLOODY BRILLIANT
Nice version!
A true British classic, I’ve watched Get Carter so many times, the Yank version is a joke.
That movie was proof that Michael Caine could play a badass convincingly.
There’s a blaxploitation version called Hitman with Bernie Casey in the Michael Caine role, the whole movie is here on RUclips.
FANTASTIC . . .
Awesome!
Sooooo gooooood!!
Drummed up...
he's come for albert
CRAZY, MON. FAB, YEAH.
Genius
The business 😎
Who's MB?
Give the drummer some!!
jazzier and more listenable than the used version . Think would be at home played in a club .
I've come for you margaret......
not bad, not bad at all.
Fantastisch
WOW!!!!
Before modern drum 'n bass was even a thing...
this is the era when the breakbeats were actually _recorded_ 🙂
Uber cool. Is there a better theme tune?
Oh, I like this; fine drumming! Perhaps, though, for another part of the fil-um (as Glenda would say).
I like the original better where it is, in the opening credits.
i'd like five pounds on lucky leap
Chris Karen on drums
Peanut Vendor It sounds to me like someone has overdubbed a drum track, simply by playing live along to the original recording through headphones.
I think it was a recent overdub, Miles also did a similar drum mix for Serge Gainsbourg - Psychastenie (Miles' Drum Edit) which is just a great
Good work, but I think the drums make it too busy. The original is a little sparse and desperate which sets up the film perfectly.
nice
I was a little worried but this works
Reminiscent of Clyde Stubblefield's style of drumming
一倂殊
MUCH better than the original! Nice work. When was it recorded?
So Roy Budd invented Drum & Bass...hmmmm
well fuck me...awesome
If you like this listen to SLOW MOTION LOVE AFFAIR by LOLA LAMOUR
Non c'entra un cazzo, sparisci fallito
I guess some like it hot. I personally prefer classical music.
Can you dance to it?
I hear Beethoven was a badass.
Good but better without the drums.
Nice Try! But fake!
