No matter what angle I look at the Cyber Truck, I just can't seem to understand its reason for being. If it was Elon's vanity project, why make it a production vehicle? Why not just make one for himself and kit it out with all the bell's and whistles he wants? If it was an earnest attempt at making a luxury car, why skimp so much on build quality? Wealthy people tend to buy durable goods of the highest quality because money is no object for them. He already had an uphill battle to fight being a fairly new brand on the market, so it seems incredibly short sighted to screw over those wealthy people who decided to take a risk trying out his vehicle. If it was supposed to be a consumer car with lots of compromises and cut backs, why market it as a luxury vehicle? I don't think people would be nearly as annoyed with the Cybertruck if it only cost as much as a Corolla. If it was some sort of financial scam designed to lure in investors and make money through speculation and Tesla stock shorting, why even release it at all? Why go to the expense of actually making these pieces of crap instead of jerking people around with it "coming soon"? I mean, it can't be fear of lawsuits or legal repercussions. Billionaires own DC and I doubt Elon would see justice even if the truck had an AI that routinely went rogue and started running people down GTA-style. I just don't get it.
Not really, you have to pay for installation and as someone mentioned they don't give it unless you pay the installation. So it's absolutely not pro bono.

Too bad it doesn't come with common sense, a realistic view of musk or any real truck capabilities.
You need to pay extra to have it installed. They refuse to give you the wall connector unless you pay them to install it for you.
