Jacques knows showbusiness - he made sure to keep the pace up and not drag it out. The kind of segments have time limits, and Jacques was controlling the time better than Jimmy lol. Bravo
you're absolutely correct Jacques is a legend and has been in showbiz way before Jimmy was born...unfortunately Jimmy was also too loud and overly excited.

They should have let Quest run this interview. Fallon didn't even know what was in the book. Thank goodness Chef Pépin is such a kind and gracious man, and Quest is a gentleman to make up for Fallon's faux pas.

Chef Pépin is a national treasure for both the US and France, and in fact the world. Sad to see him be overshadowed by such a buffoon as Fallon, who isn’t fit to peel a potato in the presence of such humble greatness.
Buffoon he may be but he's clearly in awe of JP and he's supporting the book and the foundation. What more do you want out of a late night TV host?

I laughed so hard at this! My omelettes look somewhere between Jimmy's and Quest's, but maybe not that good. Jacques is a national treasure!
The key to a successful omelet is a small non stick pan. Just follow his instructions 🙂
One trick I found useful is that the COPPERware ( the one on informacial) actually requires very little oil, I use olive oil instead of butter. Always comes out perfect . I got mine from bed Bath BEYOND

Very nice how Jimmy cracked the eggs! I still haven't managed to do it one handed. But he failed on the omelette. He basically made scrambled eggs. 😂
I never tire of watching Chef Jacques Pépin make a classic French omelette. And now I learn he is an artist, not only in the kitchen but on canvas. He is a treasure!
I love Jacques and have to agree with Julia on him being the best chef in America, but he was absolutely wasted on the Fallon show with that. I'm glad he was able to get his message out though.
He is the single nicest chef I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He is rainbow or sunshine and unicorns riding on silver clouds. He used to sneak up behind me and grab a bite of whatever I was making and then I would stand there about to merde my pantaloons until I got a 'mmmhmmmmm' and a nod of approval. Yoda is the Pépin of jedi-ing.
Amazing how active Pepin is, his facebook videos on cooking are great. I really like the ones when he cooks with grand kids.

Worth learning how to do this just so you can try it at least once. Much fluffier and creamier than traditional American style scrambled eggs. Don't skimp on the butter.
How do you host a legend like Jacques Pepin and then shout over him for 5 minutes? Loved seeing Jacques, but Jimmy was so obnoxious it was hard to watch the whole segment.

I have seen him drag metal through pans for years. Jarrring. But Pepin is Pepin.

I like Jimmy… always have. HOWEVER, in often-typical “late night show host” fashion, I felt that he forgot that he was the HOST and that the TALENT was the guest. Jimmy couldn’t resist the urge to steal a scene. Cudos to Mr. Pepin… calm and classy throughout the segment. Indeed a legend.
